MoP release= Blizzard diverting some resources here and there to help out with release. I wouldn't be surprised if these past few weeks of (mostly) silence from the blues are because they're helping out with preparations for MoP.
Tank wizards have deceptively high dps due to the constant fluctuation of arcane power. Don't sell a tank build short, its expensive sure but with constant chain reactions of explosive blast echoing through mobs and amplified by frost nova + cold blooded is nothing short of impressive. Just my two cents but i think its a far superior build and beats kiting any day of the week. Though it is fun to see those huge numbers its almost as fun to see lots of mediocre numbers popping up
I have 46k DPS and 120k EHP with force armor and glass cannon and I cleared act 3 and act 4 without any problem
I switched to tank build where I was not able to kite though, due to the small space of the tower of the damned
The entry level gear for that build is about 2mln worthy
I appreciate the advice, but I'm not a fan of melee wizard builds since they have to spam a lot of skills relatively quickly and require more money than I have time to farm out. Trying to boost my DPS by getting my crit% from 20% to 30-35% is going to be tough for me though, since rings and bracers with high int, crit%, and RA/vit costs stupidly large sums of gold (no way am I touching the RMAH).
I just got to act 3 with 22k unbuffed DPS on my arcane glass cannon (I know, it's really low). Act 3's very beginning is obviously a brick wall to me so I was wondering, just how high should my DPS be by the end of A3?
Stutter stepping is, in my opinion, the result of poor planning of class skills on Blizzard's part. If wizards had a reliable kiting skill that didn't have to take more than 8 seconds to cool down, then most likely, there wouldn't be the need to stutter step almost all the time (I have very early carpal tunnel so stutter stepping a decent amount aggravates it).
I farm gold with 200+ (base) GF on heart of sin NM with my DH. Having a 1k DPS xbow helps out a lot to shorten the runs to about 15-17 min. On average, I make about 80k.
Thanks for the offer, but I think I can handle it with some slight adjustments to my build. For the most part, it's the elites that gives me the problems.
Normal/trash mobs are nothing, but since the enemy HP jumps up into the millions against elites, they tend to kill me real fast.
I would have tried to go for + crit damage gear, but at the current moment, items are way too expensive for me to consider it.
I think I'll max out my DH and start gold farming with her instead. After that, I'll get the gear I need for my build.
For me, a wand with 800 DPS and +5 (or more) AP on critical hit helps out a lot (if your crit chance is above 25%). I also find that you definitely need to have a pair of boots with +12% movement speed since it helps with kiting A LOT. That being said, try and aim for 1k+ intelligence and 25k HP (minimum). It may sound difficult, but with time and practice, you'll get the hang of it.
I've been there myself for a week now, and tbh, looking at your stats (which are pretty much the same I had), here is what I did to make my way into Act 2, and I tell you you are gonna need to spend some money unless you're a real pro (which I wasn't =P).
First thing, and I know is not cheap, get a 2h 1k dps weapon, try to get at least a standard one, but you gonna need the dps.
Second, increase your resists and life regen, I'm now at 300+ and 900hp/sec, you won't die so fast, and you get good hp while kiting.
Third, you gonna need boots with 12% speed run.
Fourth, about the build, I've barely tried arcane orb + temporal flux, and I think for it to be really effective you need a 1h weapon to fire them faster. I use blizz+venom hydra and kite a lot, I know is the usual spec, but anyway I really like using it. My build also has seeker missile, fracture and force armor/weapon, and the passives are glass cannon, illusionist and galvanizing ward.
So in the end, fully buffed I'm at 22k dps, 35k hp, 5k armor, 300+ resists and 900hp/sec, and I'm doing just fine in act 2 atm.
Hope it helps.
Always nice to hear from someone that is in a similar situation. Also, you run a blizz+venom hydra build with Magic missle? I thought shock pulse orb helped with proccing CM? How do you survive without Diamond skin?

I nearly shed a tear just thinking about what this weapon could have been with 500-600 more DPS...
While they are very effective, I thought molten/plagued/AE affixes were a nightmare for this build?

Buffed or unbuffed? How far are you in A3?
