I usually just smash primary stat (Str/Dex/Int) and +exp while leveling softcore chars and roll through content by practically one-shotting all the mobs. When you're in the mid 40s you can start getting really good level requirement reduced items, at least a weapon, to make it even more laughable. Most of these characters die occasionally because I completely neglect Vit and survival stats, but it's usually pretty easy to roll through content fast enough that it doesn't matter. You can also pick your skills wisely according to how you built your gear. As an example, I always use Ground Stomp + Wrenching Smash rune as a barb while leveling because I can stun everything I'm fighting for long enough to kill it without it doing any damage to me, whereas if I stood there and took 4 seconds worth of hits from 10 mobs I would probably die with my 0 vitality. Additionally, sockets and decent quality gems are huge at lower levels wherever you can get them, and if you want to take your time and be more secure then I'd recommend looking into Vit. For instance, my hardcore characters always prioritize Vit first until Inferno and it's pretty easy to stay alive while leveling.
I've spent nowhere near billions of gold, let alone hundreds of millions, and can easily do a full A3 clear in roughly an hour with very few deaths, killing all bosses and elite packs. This is from a WW barb that got in early on the spec before it became so popular, so my items have probably only gained value, but I doubt they're worth even 200-300 million now (and I paid much less awhile back), let alone 2 or 3 billion.
For what it's worth, I think you're interpreting the monster HP buff in co-op change incorrectly. You have "Monster health will now be a flat increase of 75% health, regardless of how many players are in the game," however, I believe the blog states that it will still be 75% per player, as it currently is in Normal difficulty, but will not scale to higher amounts in NM/Hell/Inferno. Currently, it's 110% per player in Inferno, but it will be 75% per player in Inferno post-1.04. I think only 75% extra for 4 players would be ridiculously low, so it sounds like it will still scale with every additional player, just to a lesser extent in higher difficulties.

That said, however, I still think something like this looks like fun when watching it in a video -- but it's just not for me.

This is absolutely ridiculous. It almost makes me wish I exploited, because it looks like a lot of fun, but I'm pretty serious about abiding by the EULA/ToS and not engaging in any sort of cheating, botting, or exploiting in any game I play.
Oh well, hope it's fixed soon if it isn't already. Enjoy it while it lasts for those who choose to do it.

I was considering buying the Emerald design at the 14m price yesterday, but since it went back up a little bit, I would still buy it direct for 14m if anyone is willing to sell it soon. This would still yield you more gold than selling it at the current price after the 15% AH cut. Similarly, I'd probably like to buy the Topaz design for around 4m.
Not sure what to add to this. I definitely prefer that this worked differently, but I've somehow managed to enjoy the game (on both SC and HC), while playing an immense amount of hours over the past two months.
I'm hoping that they get to fixing downright bugs and issues like rubberbanding, and hopefully something will be done (although I doubt it) to alter the game system in such a fashion that being hit from across the screen isn't nearly as common as it is, or was.
Looking to buy these two designs for less than AH prices. I've been monitoring them pretty close the past week or two and have seen them as low as 14m/5m respectively, ideally I'd still be looking to pay less than that as you wouldn't be suffering the 15% AH cut from your sale. I'm willing to buy both together or separately.

Nuvian when I do Act 3, wearing only 380% MF, I have to TP back to town 4-5 times per run, just to ID and vend/DE, due to lack of room, it gets.... tedious, maybe I should ignore blues.

I'd definitely suggest ignoring blues unless they have affixes that could make them potentially worthwhile (i.e. Seeking for max MF pieces) or weapons with high prefix/suffix damage combos like Grim Arch Axe from Beyond, etc. I just look for affixes that aren't terrible on blues, and mouseover with CTRL to check their tooltip if need be. I almost never pick them up. I still have to empty my bags 2 or 3 times per run from the rares, but that's a full A3 clear of 30-50 elite packs.
Also: I found goblin farming a lot more boring than actually farming an entire act (or area) worth of elite packs, but this is also growing tedious quickly. I'm probably unusual, but currently I have the most fun leveling characters (reduced level requirement items can be really fun imo). The grind for worthwhile items in Inferno is really a needle in a haystack situation, even with great MF gear, and it just grows boring after doing it so many times within a small time frame.
There is no point to farming without MF. That's like exercising while filling your fat face with twinkies and milkshakes.
It really is not hard to put together a set of MF gear that's capable of farming all of act 1.
Except for, you know, efficiently farming A3 as a melee class. In A1, yes, it's very easy to do it with a MF set, but if you're soloing as a melee in A3 or A4, it's not very viable to get a set with very high MF that also will provide efficient farming.
When I used to farm A1, I would use almost full MF gear and be up over 300% with NV and didn't have to swap any gear, just full cleared the act in this gear. Now that I'm farming A3 as a solo melee class, however, I chose to ignore MF other than what is on my follower and what shows up on my gear naturally (still 100%+ with NV) in order to farm as fast and efficiently as possible. I currently clear full A3 runs in just over an hour, averaging an elite pack every 2 minutes or less over the entire duration of the run which provides 30+ elite packs. Doing it like this with few or no deaths is much more efficient and enjoyable to me, rather than dealing with the hassle of trying to swap gear as a solo melee, or looking for gear with all the perfect damage/survival stats that also happens to have MF.
For a longer term solution, I would recommend gradually replacing gear one by one once your gear is comfortable enough to farm A3 normally. At that point, you could maybe drop a few stats on a piece or two in favor of some more MF, but that's just my suggestion. Given that MF will be changed soon in some fashion or another, I personally am choosing not to bother investing in really expensive MF gear that may lose all its value.
Hesp, your explanation is pretty much spot on, as I understand it. The devs even confirmed MF still works exactly the same way in D3 as it did in D2, also reaffirming the statement that it takes a predetermined loot table and increases the chance of rolling a higher quality (magic+) version of any or all of those items.
Thanks for the post Daboudibou. I did something similar on one of my characters with different quests that I'd repeat at various level ranges, but I did not have any outside assistance so once I was high enough I would smash through the rest of that act/difficulty while receiving very little exp. It made it doable entirely solo, and it was pretty safe (yet very boring), but probably took closer to 30 or so hours. I may consider your strat if I feel like trading risk for boredom again on a future character, provided I find someone willing to help with Diablo etc. Either way, thanks for the post.
PS : I was wondering if you guys consider 16h of play (divided on 3 days) to level 1 to 60 to be fast because I was thinking about writing a post where you'd only make runs like the Fallen star one to get to 60 in a safe way for the Hardcore players.
If you arent being helped or power leveled by anyone else, then yes, I think 16 hours played is pretty quick for a HC character. I very much took my time with my first one and it took quite a bit longer than that so far, especially 51+. I'd be interested in reading your strat and seeing how it differs from mine, as I try to play it very safe as well.
not dying once all the way to and through inferno -- same as softcore?

I assume this was sarcasm, but I will comment on it just in general to say that, yeah, the HC AH is way different. I'm only level 50 on my HC character and the things on there that are useful to me cost wayyyyyyyyyy more than the SC counterparts that people would just vendor without a thought.
