I was set to read this thing as I'm desperately trying to distract myself from the election, but your assumption that Necro is the end doesn't sit well with me.
I'm done speculating. Let's just wait until the moment they stand before us with a tangible announcement, whatever that may be.
Right now, just look forward to what they announced, or don't, whichever. But anything else, just let it slip from your thoughts.
At best, we know they are working on things, because of hires. That's it. But we always knew they were working on things. That's what people do at work. lol If that were not the case, Wyatt, Travis, Kevin Martens would have moved on long ago.
Don't waste your energy reading tea leaves (or stool samples, lol).
I'm the biggest raging fanboy and even I'm feeling let down. What the hell?
That dungeon thing is totally boring to me. I don't care about some anniversary event. I want to know about the main game I spend most of my time on! There's a serious disconnect here.
Necro is cool, of course, sure. Who isn't down with that? Even at a cost. But damn...
Tyranny out in a few days. Better not be a similar letdown.
They hired a new art director 11 months ago. He's on the 45 minute panel to help discuss new content for Diablo 3.
Why? Art director's do the heavy lifting, like world design, telling the artists how everything should feel and look, the colors, the mood, high level shit. So he'll probably be up there to say, "Look at this cathedral! Or this entirely new area! This is the feel we went after when creating Skovos."
So D3 is getting something, and it may be as huge as an expansion. Because you don't put your art director on stage to talk about transmogs and season resets, which I keep hearing is the expectation and is getting ridiculous.
Necro is pointless. We already have Witch Doctor and it's basically the same.

An old interview with Jay Wilson back before Diablo 3 was released.
"We are trying to design the Witch Doctor class so that if we did bring back the Necromancer, there's room for him. We're looking out ahead of time at what our expansions are going to be, so we've got to keep room open for some of those other classes down the road."
Shit. Had totally forgotten about that. Pretty clearly leaving a huge opening for some sort of continuation. Maybe a corruption mechanic in expansion? Who knows, but worth pointing out. They obviously had something in mind when they wrote up this hackneyed ending. lol
This is a very well done poll, I must say. Would be nice to have a larger sample size.
One thing not on the list: pushing GRs. I like the rush of that, the focus it requires. But maybe to some that's just grind, hah
But I dunno, man. Pushing GRs gets me excited in ways no other ARPG can, where most just devolve into drooling while you collect loot, at least D3 offers those rare moments of a genuine rush.
As for my vote, I favored loot and build diversity, which probably contradicts my preference for pushing GRs. I don't mind the pigeon hole, but I would like them to work on making more of the sets fun to play. A lot are quite mundane.
I hope not. Waste of resources. Massive. Give me new shit I've not seen before.
I've already played 10k hours of D2, and it doesn't need to be remastered anyway. If you're not playing it now, a fresh coat of paint won't make you play it either.
And the art panel could just as easily to cover new art for an expansion.
It's not only the 45 minute block, it's the main one hour long event with the devs on the main panel stage that's the big deal. The one where the text states that they'll reveal new content and features, which is pretty explicit.
I'm a big confused. Are people upset because there's no chance of a D4 reveal or something? No matter how you slice it, it's pretty clear we're getting new shit, even if it's not an expansion. One hour is a long time to talk about a lot of things. The RoS/2.4 panel was an hour.
Would a simple Yes or No kill them regarding whether they're going to be adding anything more? It's not like letting us know they're cooking something up would kill the hype.
I guess that "Blizzcon will be cool!" tweet is a sort of answer, but... ugh.
They just dumped a huge amount of effort into revitalizing WoW, not to mention cancelling a huge MMO project (and turning it into Overwatch), so outside of WoW, I doubt they're doing anything in the realm of MMOs, even ARPG wise.

Best news I've heard so far.
"Ten other things to go over," he says. Hmm, we'll see I guess.

Hard to say there will be nothing when the Blizzcon preview blog mentions in several instances discussion of new content.
All in on DH, Shadow Set going for GR rank. Shouldn't be hard in this diminished field.
