also FS have weaker defense than FA. they are paper tigers. it's easy to notice if you can see them both get hit by an aoe like maiden, skeleton king, etc...
blizzard may buff pets toughness, but until then they will be somewhat fragile. this goes especially for sycophants since they are more fragile than fetish army, dogs, and garg anyways. but they aren't suppose to be tanks. they are just temporary pets meant to do damage.
there's two things i've done that help a lot. i've focused more on armor and resists than vitality. even if the toughness number goes down. the second thing is to have more cc. i switched to enchantress using her cc abilities instead of dps ones. i use addling toads with rheno and i have cc secondaries on some of my gear.
i don't have everything i want yet so there's still room for improvement. even though, some of these deadly mobs are being handled. some times they don't even get in one single attack. sometimes pets still die, but not nearly as much.
It's a bit convoluted. Also, there will never be and should never be a way to engage someone in any pvp activity without their prior consent. This means they should knowingly open themselves to pvp before joining or creating a game.
It should never be possible to kill someone in pvp that wants to avoid pvp. It should never be possible to grief someone by forcing them to leave a game with threat of pvp.
Any pvp fight should consist of two or more people who are willing and ready to engage in pvp.
the only real mistake with d3 was not having regular content updates and pvp ready at release. the game is good and certainly worth the money. most people buy a game and play it for 20-50 hours at most. i'm betting every single person in this thread broke 100 hours on d3. i'm sure some went past 200 or even 300.
people wanted a game they would play as much and for as long as WoW while not paying a subscription. they may not admit it, but that's the cause behind a lot of the whine/complaint posts.
i've really loved the hp scaling of monster levels because it lets some skills and item stats shine a bit more. dots and bleeds are fun if you gear for them correctly and use the proper skills with better proccing.

i have over 12 mil toughness with 40% dmg going to dogs from mojo and rune

If you agree that trading is okay (like in d2) then all you need is to replicate that volume with an AH.

if i was starting over fresh i would just wear the best gear i could afford with or without MF
level fast and comfortably for more bonus MF
spike trap ends it fast even at high MP
6100 armor, 700 resists, 1k regen

if you have the appropriate gear then yes, you should be able to do it
sounds like some people want a difficulty that they can never beat no matter what
blaming everything on the mythical casual isn't gonna make your problems go away
for patch day it's good to assume it will be a few hours late so plan something else
they'll allow mp in public games at some point. like was stated above, they'll probably start out allowing a certain range of mp, maybe just lvl 1.
