That was also made by Blizzard North exes and is proof that even the vaunted minds that brought us D2 can make a flop of a game. This stigma that the Blizzard North team can only crank out the most amazing games ever made is a damned myth. Bill Roper looked like a horse's ass over Hellgate: London. That game had amazing potential and because of repeated blunders (both business and technological) it ended up crashing and burning pretty quickly.
I've played that, and liked it also. Thanks for reminding me about it.
D3 is boring if you are unlucky thats the point. In two weeks of power helping a friend at act 1 farming he did more gold than me since 15 May. Luck/Gamble = Diablo 3, you are not rewarded for your perseverance.
You do realize that a big chunk of people responsible for Diablo 2, are working on Path of Exile, right?
it's annoying and the mods should really close a lot of these.
Some of the threads are complaining yes but constructive discussion can also come from them. We try not to close any thread that is just simply someone complaining and focus more on the ridiculous complaint threads that offer no room for discussion or debate.
I don't want to limit peoples opinions or feelings unless it's necessary. That sort of thing easily gets out of hand and then you have threads closed left right and center and a lot of people who make good points on both sides just wasting their time with the long posts they just made.
That being said, if anyone has concerns about moderation or the forum in general feel free to PM me, I'm always willing to listen.
I was mainly talking about threads that have "!!!!!!!!!" in the titles, or things like "OMG WTF QQ" haha.
I'd rather spend $40 instead of playing 200 hours in like 3 or 4 hour increments trying to find something good, trying is the keyword in that sentence.
So lame. How about if they just have a button that says "YOU WIN"? Push it and you win........
The "buy now" or something similar button is basically the "you win" button you're talking about. The option for real money should be completely removed. This way people will be forced to either find a lot of gold, or good items.
With POE, you aren't endlessly searching for currency, that's only to buy items. You can actually FIND good items while playing that game, unheard of, I know.
Why do people keep saying this? What has always made Diablo fun, and what makes D3 fun, is that when you find high-end epic gear, it is very rare....thus it is more rewarding.
That being said, I've made millions and geared my char very well from what I've found.
I'm sorry, but if I could spend $40 and get the top tier weapon/armor/whatever for my character, that kind of defeats the whole purpose of spending hours and hours of looking for loot that you probably won't even find.
I think most people will agree that MOST people have bought their top tier items on the RMAH rather than finding them.
There's a difference between " top-tier" and "good". I find good items all the time, I have only found one top-tier item and it was a DH weapon that I didn't want to use.
Everybody is different. Myself....I enjoy the hunt.
Top tier meaning very high end item for the specific class which found it.
Sometimes it's hard to move on from someone something you love people complain hoping that others will agree with them and together they might be able to do something. Even though sometimes the complaints are really dumb
I frequent the forums because I'm interested on patch related threads, which some are still present. But when things get flooded with the same complaints, it's annoying and the mods should really close a lot of these.
We tend to let people vent off as long as the forums are kept clean from flaming/trolling and the topic doesn't have 10 duplicates on the first page, instead of going all nazi on them you guys are free to discuss whatever you're interested in discussing.
PoE has potential, but I'll wait for a release version of it, it sure felt a lot buggy and with clunky animations when I played the alpha/beta (can't recall). Fluidness is one of the most important things in a hack'n'slash for me nowadays (and D3 spoiled me in that aspect :))
Well yea I mean being an original Diablo fan as it was released, of course I'll have interest in D3, but for me, I was let down at Blizzard's version of a "finished product". Their beta should have went on for a lot longer, and for a larger portion of the game.
PoE has the visuals I was looking for, nice shadows and not so many glowing/glimmering/sparkling weapons/items. I dig the spells also. I realize it isn't finished, but it offers a vast array of customization that tops every other hack & slash game out there, past of present.
Sure, the mechanics and physics could be a little more polished, but this isn't an FPS, I don't look for top notch graphics or fluidity in this type of a game.
Well that's the main argument, people aren't able to actually FIND anything worthy of long term use, or something that they're fairly certain is top notch.
If no one is able to FIND anything worthy, where are the top tier items on the auction houses coming from?
Haha I'm kind of wondering that myself! I know only a small percentage of players post on this forum, a larger percentage would post on the Blizzard forum. I hardly ever read about people finding all this crazy crap, with the game only being out for like 2 months roughly, there are a ton of items already found. kind of makes you wonder why the average player cant find anything.
Heh... you complain that "you can just buy the best stuff on RMAH and be top geared".....then dont buy it...
I really wonder what mental issues some people have that they cannot formulate this simple logic in their head... if you do not want to buy the gear and want to earn it, then go farm and earn it...
I have a Monk i leveled up just the other day and am currently in Act 3 inferno...not bought a single thing for him from GAH or RMAH... just got some big loving from the RNG goddess (i did some things i am not proud of and i need bandages on my rectum but by god i got my gear from her)...
So yeah...just play the game you enjoy, stop this whole "oh this game is better cause i like it"...seriously you sound like a small 3 yr old child whining cause you are not getting your way.
If you do not like diablo 3 then do not play it.. if you like it then play it...Personally i find it a blast, a game that i paid 60 bucks for, already made all that money and more back on (free game) and i get to do it while goofing off with friends smashing in the face of hordes of demons...works for me
Course i dont like FPS games, any of them...find them drool and repetitive...but oh wait...i am not going to their forum boards or what ever and trashing on the game saying how much it sucks and then playing it and complaining more...that damn common sense is just so rare i guess...

I haven't played D3 in about a week. I was playing it nightly ever since May 16th.

I sure would not.
Heck, the GAH has FAAAAAAAAAAAR better gear then the RMAH side of things. (takes 5 seconds to see what im talking about)
Also, for gear to even be ON either of the AH's, they have to be FOUND first.
Yea I know they're found initially, then get recycled through the community.
Never understood why people feel the need to make up absurd statements like this. PoE has nothing to do with "grinding currency". What are you even talking about? Do you even know?
Um, of course it does. It trades one form of grinding for another. You collect blues/yellows and salvage them for mats; you combine those mats into bigger mats. Those mats can be traded in for scrolls or items at the vendors. Since (at least when I was playing) identify scrolls were absurdly hard to find, most your currency was spent getting those. You have room for like 5-6 items at a time; so you collect items are a stupid slow pace with combat that is unresponsive and boring.
With a skill tree that takes a masters degree in calculus to figure out; where if you make any mistake you are screwed. Unless you know exactly how you want your character to turn out at the end, you'll inevitably have to start over and do it all again. Fun!
There are cool things about this game; but the bad far outweigh anything bad in Diablo.
Scroll of Wisdom is what they're called. and even if those are hard to find, the two other pieces of currency needed to purchase Wisom scrolls can be collected by selling a hand full of white items you find from any monster. So that isn't even an issue.
As for the skill tree. Each class starts out at a different position on the tree, its not like all classes start out in the middle and all surrounding skills are the same. Besides that, all you have to do is look down one of the paths, read descriptions, which are only like 10 words long max, then go from there. most of the skills are just +10 to "attribute" or adding percentages towards certain damages or evasive type stuff.
Most of the actual skills are found as gems that you socket into a weapon. which you can un-socket whenever you feel like it. then each of those gems is leveled up at probably 1/4 the time it takes to get a character level up.
With POE, you aren't endlessly searching for currency, that's only to buy items. You can actually FIND good items while playing that game, unheard of, I know.

I hate grinding for loot in D3, so I'll play another game, where I grind for "currency" instead and has an absurdly small inventory, so I'm forced to do at an exceedingly slow pace. - Original poster.
Never understood why people feel the need to make up absurd statements like this. PoE has nothing to do with "grinding currency". What are you even talking about? Do you even know?
Like I said a couple posts back, you actually FIND good things in PoE, INCLUDING a shit load of orbs (currency) that can be used to either buy items, or "change" current items you already have.
I frequent the forums because I'm interested on patch related threads, which some are still present. But when things get flooded with the same complaints, it's annoying and the mods should really close a lot of these.

I have a level 22 Shadow and I think i've only actually bought 2 or 3 things. Everything i've found, and modified with orbs to turn into rares and adjust magic values.
Endless threads about the same crap, complaints (with no constructive points for the most part). Personally, I gave up on the game, went over to Path of Exile, which I feel better suits what I look for in a "hack and slash" type of game, complete lack of story, sure, but I don't care about that in this type of game.
It's pretty safe to say that most of the people talking about how they're so mad and screw this and screw that, are probably still playing on a daily basis.
If you're going to give up on it, then just do it, it isn't that hard!
