Honestly many people here find the later acts of Normal very challenging (like they can't beat the last boss for weeks on end challenging)
I am so tired of their contradicting statements. Stop giving every group of gamers a separate PR line. You can't say players will breeze through normal and then throw out this statement in your very next reply.
Oh, but he can say those things. There will be some players that don't breeze through. There will be some that do breeze through. Maybe you are too quick to jump to the conclusion that everyone is always trying to deceive you.
Sorry to change the subject here but..... I thought the Monk short story was the most enjoyable so far :Thumbs Up: ! Of course I may be biased because I love the monk so very much!
You can kind of see that they are very nervous. I am also curious as to how the realization that things were not working came about. Who noticed it? It seems like they have some idea that something was fundamentally not working in the last video. They look like they are all eating a shit sandwich.
I have been following the monk ever since it's announcement. It is true (as I am sure all classes) that it makes all the difference who plays it. Watching Force play the Monk makes me not want to play one. His heavy handed play style does not showcase how well a monk can to. There are some other guys to seem to do magical things are able to move fluidly through generators and spenders.
It's like watching Bruce Lee vs. Hulk. I am very excited to play one, and I will be working hard to obtain the fluidity and gracefulness that is a Monk to me.
Bob says to Jay "And what exactly do you say you do around here." Jay replies emphatically, "I take take the friggen specs and bring them to the customer! I AM A FRAKKIN PEOPLE PERSON WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THAT!" Jay then scratches his nuts and shows off his pit stains for the camera.
I can't imagine what it will be like if you get more than one rare with four affixes in a monster pack while adventuring in inferno. I will be one dead monkie!
Blizzard wants to do a few things that I did not see happening:
They want to somehow encourage grouping while not taking away the ability to solo.
They do not want people to do strait up boss runs.
They want inferno to be hard.
Let us say Blizzard makes it so the more rares/champions you kill the higher level loot that will drop off the main bosses. We know rares/champions have 4 random affixes each. This would mean that there are going to be some monster packs that solo will be near impossible. Example you have a stunning, AoE, healing, teleporting Champion, who is guarded by some mortaring extra health, extra armor, super fast, rares. Solo the mechanics are just going to be very difficult to break this pack down. Keeping healer stun locked and still dodging the rares who are in your face constantly…. You get the picture. In a group it is more feasible to burn the healer down and keep the others distracted.
So you have some… but not all rares/champs that are difficult to take out solo, and you have end act bosses who has a chance to drop higher tiered loot stuff the more you clear. This would end up being a mechanic that encourages you to group so you have a chance of higher tiered loot. It encourages you to find all the rares and champs, and gives the player a sense of progression in the late game.
I have been very less than impressed with some of Bashiok's responses to questions about the rune changes of recent, and that one just exemplifies my reasoning. The guy raises a great point, and one I share sentiment with. His response just side steps the problem raised, and doesn't really have enough weight to stand on it's own. There are not billions of possible combinations. Not all of the runes modify the skills that much or to a point varying gameplay enough to consider it completely different. Some builds will also just not seem viable to do. Most people that are concerned with these changes are hardcore and avid players, and therefore the blue responses to questions being raised are aimed at those players. A well informed player won't disrupt synergies and pair things together putting them at an obvious disadvantage for the sake of "diversity" and a "new gameplay experience." It will effectively do the same thing as WoW and make people feel trapped to play a specific build, even if it has looser restrictions. Although Blizz may not be enamored with the responsibilities for choices route, there aren't much alternative options for longevity other than replaying the game, different builds and skills. That's how D2 has stayed around so long (neglecting all aspects of D2 that were great that also happen to be in D3; ex item hunt). The unlocks follow the same path so there is no incentive for replay-ability. And even at level 60 if you decide to change things up a bit and switch your build what will you be doing? Just hunting for gear, doing the same exact thing, differently. The argument could be made that forcing to re-level a character is the same thing but at least there is a sense of progression while doing that.
1. a sense of progression from forcing to re-lvl? you mean a sense of redundancy?
2. you obviously have not spent much time on the skill calc. i have spent hundreds of hours with it and i can say without a doubt there are at least hundreds of possible builds that are a lot different for each class. 100x more then D2 had. considering how much fun and time ive spent just on the skill calc alone, actually using these builds will make it last infinitely longer.
3. his response doesnt side step anything. he gives the exact response he should because its the truth.
4. gear has always been the main point of longevity in diablo, and then ppl complain when its the same thing in the sequal? lol?
5. there is absolutely nothing stopping you from replaying or recreating a character. D2 FORCED you to do this which was bogus and they finally added respecs a little bit ago which made it way better. people are brain washed into thinking the permanancy of D2 was a good thing when it added nothing but an inconvenience. why? because it took a whole 3 hours to get a new char from 1-80 to test out your new build n equip all the gear you farmed from your other guy. so again i say, it added nothing. all thats changed is now people have a choice to re-level a new char to test new builds or use the same one.
people complain hard about how D3 took away choices, took away the choice of skill points and the choice of attributes. then they rage hardcore about given a choice to re-lvl or not? lol....
Have fast run speed, and demobilize mobs to further exploit the speed difference.
I have high spirit regen so I can do damage and HoT to replenish my health.
The idea is so keep mob packs split up... divide and conquer if you will. pull the fast mobs forward demobilize them then use tempest rush or seven sided strike to take out casters and then kill melee as they catch up to me.

Funny that is my exact order too! Get out of my brain!!
Paranoia!

Is Jay a bum they picked up off Sunset Blvd?
