I really wanted to play a thorns crusader when I saw all the new legendaries coming that had the possibility of making it a viable main damage source, on top of allowing it to scale with main stat. It seems though that the legendary effect I've managed to test so far, Sanguinary Vambraces, applies the effect from base thorns damage only. I can't speak for the thorns set as I've not managed to test it myself or seen anyone test it out.
I don't believe that the PTR server is even up right now, but you need to run the PTR launcher if you're still using the old launcher, or swap the D3 client to PTR using the drop down menu if you're using the new Beta Bnet launcher.
I think the big problem is that people look at the way loot drops are in the console version, and imagine that's what it's going to be like in Loot 2.0. It's a console game, it's meant to give quick gratification, because it's doubtful that in 2 years the same people will still be playing it. They've got to get you your quick fix. I highly doubt the PC version is going to be even remotely close, but right now the drop rates in D3 are horrendous. I've still got all but like 6 of the fiery brimstone I've ever DE'd, some of which came from rares early on in the game, and I think I'm sitting on 24 in my stash. That's roughly 600 hours of farming with nearly nothing to show for it. For me, it's impossible for Loot 2.0 to break the game, because in my opinion it can only go up from where it is right now.
Just look at it like this. If you play self-found D3 right now, it's generally pretty agonizing. It's not just hard to find good items for your favorite character, it's hard to find good items, period. I typically play this game with 3 friends, and after reaching Inferno, I think we've found a total of 10 items to swap between each other. We aren't hardcore farmers, we aren't ridiculously efficient, but I mean, that's 4 sets of loot, and we're finding nothing. 400-600 hours of playtime on our mains each, and only one of us has ever found something truly amazing. Maybe our lucks just been awful, and you've had a different experience, but I'd personally rather see loot raining from the sky than never finding it at all.
I don't see the point on saving items to reroll once the mystic hits. They haven't said anything about the mystic coming with loot 2.0 nor do I believe it will.
Just wondering what everyone thought about this build. I'm using it for sure, but I figured I'd get some opinions. The skill choices are pretty obvious but I'll explain my reasoning anyway. Obviously as a summoner build I took the only 2 permanent summons available to me. I really have no interest in temporary pets, so I'll be sticking with the Gargantuan and Zombie Dogs. I took Soul Harvest because I intend to try a build based around the +regen/thorns granted by Fierce Loyalty, so my personal damage may be lacking a bit. Big Bad Voodoo for utility and ally support, and my 2 main damage spells are Haunt and Locust Swarm. The idea is simple, let my pets and tankier allies hang on the front lines while I fire DoT's on the enemy from a safe distance, only moving in near enough to refresh Soul Harvest and Big Bad Voodoo as necessary. The passives are obvious, everything I can get to buff my pets in terms of surviving the onslaught they're sure to endure. Overall I think the build will be pretty effective, although lacking in CC and personal damage. Of course, if thorns turns out to be a fairly useless modifier the build will almost be immediately rendered useless and require a few changes, so I'm hoping for the best here. Let me know what you guys think, and thanks for your input.
My witch doctor summoner/DoT build. Just like I played a necromancer in Diablo 2 and a warlock in WoW, I based my build around maximizing my pets efficiency while still allowing myself some room for group utility and some damage output through Haunt/Locust Swarm.

They actually have said something about it. http://www.diablofans.com/blizz-tracker/topic/267968-the-new-expansion/ and what they say there is that they plan to hold the mystic back until the expansion, so you're right about it not coming with Loot 2.0.
Where are you seeing this? I read it as whenever a monster dies and drops an item normally, not when a normal monster dies and drops an item.
