in reality the passive is more allowing the Crusader to use a SHIELD with a 2her than a 2her with a shield, if that makes sense.
Without really looking at numbers, I feel that this is really what it's all about. It makes using a 2H as a Crusader viable even without the 30% DR of other melee classes, because a shield provides similar benefits.
As for the movement speed penalty.. I'm a bit torn about it. At first thought it seems logical that there should be some kind of penalty for being able to use a 2H and a shield at the same time. But when looking at the movement speed... I don't really feel like it's a penalty in terms of game stats - like sheet DPS or toughness - but more a lack of convenience on the player's part. Basically saying "Hey, it's now super annoying to play your class, but you do get to use 2H's" The reason? Movement speed doesn't feel like a competitive stat. What I mean by that is, we tend to measure our toon's progression by the DPS, toughness, height of Difficulty that we can survive in, and so on. But movement speed is not a factor in that. It doesn't make you better or worse than others in a certain department. Of course, you could argue that more movement speed makes you kill things faster as you reach them sooner, but with picking up items in between, maybe standing still for a chat or porting back to town, this seems very nitpicky unless you're focussed on speedruns, which I dare say is a minority anyway. The movement speed penalty doesn't rebalance the class compared to other classes. Instead, it's mostly a huge PITA for the player individually because everything feels very slow.
This became noticable to me today - at first I didn't really mind the 10% cap on Movement speed. It didn't feel that slow to me, to be honest. Until I swapped to another character that did have the MS increase all the way up to 25%. It just felt so much nicer playing that specific character, even if they had way lower stats than my Crusader (currently my 2nd best character in terms of DPS/Toughness).
I guess what I'm trying to say is I understand the urge to want to penalize a toon for being able to use a 2H and a shield. I'm just not sure movement speed is the way to go, because it's not a competitive but a convenience stat.
I was thinking about this as well. I'm not saying we should be able to just buy whatever we want whenever we want it, but I haven't been able to earn much gold at all since RoS went live. I have about 13m from selling stuff pre RoS (gems and all that) and I haven't really grown much. I've mostly spent gold on repairs, the odd transmog and upgrading the Crafters. And I've played mostly on Master/T1. If I spend my current gold f.ex. on upgrading a gem to max level, I doubt I'll ever be able to get it anywhere over 1m again without a very long farm. With gold costs as they are, I reckon they'll have to lower them at some point, or it's simply not manageable for anyone who doesn't spend at least a good couple hours a day farming.
The only logical explanation I, too, could come up with was that Blizzard wants to drain the bloated AH economy somewhat. I'm fairly confident they'll have a look at it in the future, as this isn't the first time I've heard people wonder. I just hope they don't wait too long with a revision.
FIre up Steam if I need it, else just dive straight into the game, pretty much. In case of Diablo I run the game full screen windowed which leaves me room to browse the web on my 2nd monitor. I tend to do that during loading screens or cinematics or stuff like that (which in D3 are fairly fast so I usually don't have time). But I know myself well enough to not check beforehand: I'd end up browsing for a long time (30+ mins) and not play the game I intended to after all.

Ok, so I stopped playing D3 pretty soon after release, and now I'm playing again. I see a lot has changed - most for the good too, so I'm really enjoying playing again. I leveled my monk to 60 now, but I'm really confused as to what to do first.
I've watched some video's like this one:
just to get tips on gear, but as I've not played that much yet I'm only at ~650k gold. In general, I know my general way around the class, running the CC build and so far plowing my way through Inferno pretty steadily. I'm about half way through Act 2 and not had any trouble yet. But I'm sure I'll hit a wall somewhere towards / in Act 3 and I'm not really sure how I should work from here.
- There's crafting, should I invest in that as a fresh 60?
- Or should I be focussing on Paragon lvling first? And should I level that to 100 before anything else or should I stop at some point...?
- Should I get some of the (less perfect) recommended gear using my measly 650k or grow it to a larger sum first?
- What can I do to make some more gold? Just plow along with Nephalem or is there a sure way to earn some easy cash?

This, pretty much. Although I share some concerns with regards to the game, if this rant is based on the one anime short which is clearly a one off venture into another style and back... I don't think you'll have to worry about D3 being an anime styled game ;-)
Well if she likes you well enough by now then she shouldn't care what belief you are. If she does take offense then where's the point in carrying on. Unless your sole goal is to 'tap that', in which case I wish you luck with the whole 'no sex before marriage' part.
As for advice, have fun. If you haven't eaten after work and there's a lot of people, hold off the eating, get acquainted with those close to you in line and have them hold your spot for you while you quickly dash of for a snack.
Just make some friends and then proceed to order some pizza's together and have them delivered to your spot in line. It's what I did while waiting for an Alter Bridge concert haha! Great fun and jealous faces of the other people in line ^^
funny... I just ordered a new graphics card because I wasn't satisfied with how the game played on my decent computer. I was thinking the exact opposite of you... the game doesn't run very well on decent computers.
I have a Core2Duo 3ghz (overclocked to 3.6), GeForce GTS 250, 4 gigs ram. It can't handle multiplayer. Hopefully the GTX 480 I ordered will be enough!
It played the game flawlessly if I played single player but playing multiplayer was way too laggy for my tastes. Even if I decrease the options or res it still stutters a lot.
If you get pretty bad slowdown on the pillar event, I'd upgrade. It's going to get much worse than that during the later acts.

Blizzard have already stated that you can experience some performance loss (not latency lag, but FPS lag) on the beta which arrises when events (skill usage, monsters etc) first occur in your gaming session. The loading process isn't optimized or something. This will be gone in the live version, so I hope you didn't base your purchase decision on that ;-)
Question: I've seen a legendary bow for lvl 8. That means it's obtainable around the cathedral / SK?
Ayup. Not in the beta obviously as legendaries aren't in the beta yet, but yes, legendary items of that level are available at the appropriate part of the game :-)
I don't see why new items have to automatically mean higher character level. Again, referring to D2 here. Most LoD items were definetly better than most vanilla D2 ones, but not by such a margin as to make the vanilla ones useless, and all within the confounds of the level cap.
It's anyone's guess how they'll handle level caps in subsequent expansions, they probably don't even have a solid idea of what it is exactly that they want to do. I really don't think you can even compare reaching level cap in Diablo III to Diablo II, as the systems surrounding the level cap are completely different. They really couldn't be more different.
Fair point, they are indeed two different types. But I'm not really fussed about the level cap in itself, I just hope it doesn't make the endgame items from vanilla D3 obsolete compared to endgame items in an expansion.
You can still get new skills. But regarding items imagine situation that you are grinding around and after a year you have found your lvl 60 ubber item and you are so happy when 1 day later they release an expansion and your ubber items is not ubber anymore and you have only two options now of either grinding for another year just to meet another expansion or to buy new ubbers on RAHM if you want them to stay ubber. I think it would suck, don't you ?
You're right I'd rather get a new expansion with no new items at all...
What a ridiculous hypothetical situation, are you actually saying you don't want to see newer and better items in the expansion, because you don't want to have to try to earn them.
Can you even read what I wrote! Do you want to get an item which is useless as soon as you find it as it was replaced by a new $%^£& difficult to find another item from the expansion? Do you?
Personally, yes I would. I would not want a stagnant item pool across expansions.
I'll propose a hypothetical situation to you too. Would you like to find your "uber" item the first day you hit inferno. Then you have to wait an entire year to ever get new gear again. But lets say they do what you want, and introduce no new items with each expansion. Well, stinks for you. You now have nothing to do in the game after you see the new content once because you've had all the best items since day one. Do you want that?
Did you ever experience D2? (that's not a troll question, honest curiosity) They added a ton of new items in that with the expansion, yet kept level cap and difficulty the same :-) And because you didn't reach 99 by a long shot after just one playthrough of Hell it all worked out with the extra act. Personally I'm hoping for the same. Don't really see the need to go higher than 60 really.
Hmm never thought of this... hope they keep it at 60, or at least make it so items from the vanilla version will still be viable in expansion, like with D2.
The Blizzard novels in general are all pretty superficial. I've read all of them apart from a few more recent ones. Don't expect deep characters and well written plotlines. It's more like background info for the games, poured into a chronologically correct story.
That doesn't necessarily make them bad, they're nice and easy novels if you want catch up on the game's lore. But again, don't expect deep engagement.
