At first I thought it might be a bit overpowered since the 6pc bonus makes it unlimited damage, but as I read through, the op makes some good points about how it actually wouldn't be as over powered as it sounds.
For those that don't want to click the link here's the bonus idea:
2pc bonus: Increases Arcane Power Regeneration by 4.00 per Second
4pc bonus: Your channeling damage increase remains for 2 seconds after you move
6pc bonus: The maximum damage cap of your channeling skills is now unlimited
As he says, it could bring Aether Walker into the mix as a very solid weapon choice even though it has been regarded as a bounty/speed rift only weapon...
Well, I think that's why a lot of players I know are waiting on the Delsere set. Firebird is the cookie cutter spec now, but there are other options for T6, they're just not nearly as fast. I still try to put random sets together (like the last iteration of my Ninja Wizard) for fun.
Devs already confirmed that the goal is to improve on the underused sets (like adding 6-piece bonuses). For wizards those would be Tal's and Vyr's, so we'll see how those get adjusted in the future.
Vyr's needs to buff the crap out of Archon in terms of damage and cool down reduction. imo, Archon's on kill damage bonus hurts it a LOT. Against higher grift monsters and especially guardians it's useless. I don't know why they went the on kill path with Wizards, they did it with Archon and originally firebirds as well, such a stupid mechanic for the tougher enemies, we don't need things that help us against trash mobs so why add such a mechanic on both the wizard's 'supposedly' most powerful skill and 6 piece set bonus?
Something creative (as a set bonus) could be, when you turn into Archon form, your mirror images also turn into Archon and do the same amount of damage you do. As for the damage bonus, it needs to be able to dynamically get stronger so maybe instead of on kill, make it on crit but change it from 6% to 1% (or whatever) for each crit.
Tal Rasha's I've always thought it should embrace the multi element build, so they need to add a bonus where your highest elemental damage % is applied to all elements. I recall reading somewhere that they won't drop the 8 second meteor cooldown because of server lag and screen clutter so they either apply a massive buff to meteor, or completely re design that unique bonus. Otherwise, can't see either being remotely competitive with Firebird.
I've tried it with the grand vizier. Still nowhere near firebirds but it is a fun, different way to play.
I use the lightning meteor as main attack, arcanot familiar, frozen solid and ignite which accounts for all damage types and mostly have + lightning damage gear.
I can basically spam lightning meteors non stop while using frozen solid to trigger bane of the trapped and because my AP is almost always full, star pact hits quite hard.
The meteors do about 30mill crit each time and star pact gets up to around 70mill when I have full AP.
Still rather puny compared to the firebird DoT I can get, but as i said, it's something different that I can use for T6 rifts and bounties it's more than sufficient for that.
Something like each enemy you freeze takes X amount of DoT.
I'm finding it really hard to think of a more efficient way than firebirds. Seriously, you just cast (apocalypse doesn't require precise accuracy and neither does mammoth hydra) and run forward and they die.
Channeling forces you to stand still, how that can ever compete is beyond me unless they up the damage to crazy levels.
So yeah, freeze might need it own DoT effect from a leg item. That way you can cast frozen solid and run (but then it's the same/similar playstyle to FB anyway)
Or maybe something like this: "Immediately gain maximum power on your channeled spells" that could be interesting...
I found one just like it, threw it on my alt Wizard and tried a cold build. At the moment cold isn't going to be as strong as FB. However, it's pretty safe to say that it won't remain that way forever.
They will eventually make cold builds close to FB one day and that's probably when that ring will come in handy.
For my ring, I rolled the vit off it for a socket. I just don't see how you will make it work for a FB build anyway. Without a socket you can't put leg gems in it, so that means to have the socket, you'll need to keep that cold damage bonus.
Unless they make Rama's Gift work with rings and amulets in a future patch, that ring will not be very useful for a FB build anyway.
You can do up to GR 32 with almost any spec...firebirds is optimal for ladder only....i for once use many builds throughout my gaming hours....firebirds is for when im pushing ladder...
Could you please tell me what cold spec you use to get to GR 32? What items? Thanks.
I tried a cold spec because I also found a Rimeheart.
Was using frozen solid with RoF + LoG with the cold blood rune and decent resource reduction. I can basically keep casting frozen solid (I also use mirror images to help cast it as well when I run out of AP).
It wasn't too bad to be honest. I completed a T6 rift in about 15 minutes and that's with sub par gear, the only really good items I have are the cold SoJ which I socketed and threw a bane of the trapped gem in there and the rimeheart.
IMO, what they need to do is fix the proc rates. It's something they've neglected to do despite removing CM. Also wouldn't mind a new cold set that gives us all RoF runes. Good synergy with LoG (so please if they do, don't create a source as part of the set) plus fix that stupid auto targeting and then I think we could have a decent cold spec...
We have a few interesting cold skills, however, none of them are going to take us deep into grifts.
I recently found a SoJ with 19% cold dmg. It doesn't have a socket so I need to enchant that, but then the cold skill buff isn't going to help me if there aren't any decent cold builds to work on because the skills are too weak.
Even if they buff, I'm not sure how it'll compete with firebird's but it doesn't really have to, as long as I can get into decent grift levels I'll be content with that.
Starfire: Your meteor gains the effect of the molten impact rune.
Say what? Add a 15 sec CD to all other meteors?
The ones I like are:
- Meteor falls instantly
- Blizzard stacks
- Energy Twisters pull enemies toward them
- Mirror Images have 100% of your life and last until they die
I also wouldn't mind finding a cold themed set that allows RoF to gain the effect of all runes
meteor shower+molten impacts?
Ahh I see where you were going with it.
Maybe would be better to have meteor shower effect apply to all runes then. That way the cold + lightning meteors could be a bit more relevant as well.
Couple of things I would look to improve on your gear:
Shoulders - at the moment you have rcr which is completely useless so to me that's a wasted stat. I would spend time farming for the mats to keep making shoulders until they have int, vit/amr, all res and cdr
Thunderfury - unfortunately not a great set of stat rolls. This is where a big improvement could be made. I see you rolled int was that to increase it (initially was it around 650?) or was is a different one like strength or something? If it was initially int and you re rolled to boost it, then you made a mistake imo because again, resource reduction is pointless for this build.
Boots - the problem I see is you kept the movement speed and re rolled something else. imo, move speed should be gained from your paragon points and on boots re roll it to all resist. Problem is you'll have to find another pair of Vyr's boots now to fix that.
Your cool down reduction doesn't seem anywhere near high enough, you should try taking evocation as a passive and pump your paragon points into it as well. That's potentially 30% increase on what you currently have. (unless of course, you've already placed your paragon into cdr)
So yeah, to me it just looks like you've made a few mistakes with re rolling stats, but you should still be about T4 viable.

Here are the stats:
+702 Dexterity
+637 Vitallity
+5% Increased Attack Speed
+8.5% Critical Hit Chance
Should I re roll the dexterity to intelligence or chd?
OR should I keep them for a Demon Hunter even though it looks like the new M6 set doesn't need them anymore?
Thanks for advice.
Tal Rasha's set is still in the game, no need to create another thread for it.
