I got the game a few days ago and hit level 60 paragon 3 with the help of my friend i fell in love with the game but cant really find any good items cause i'm only able to play on inferno lvl 2.
i need help making a build for around 1000$ i have no idea how the item system works and i have yet to find a legendary. only rare items.
My friend was telling me about end game items and i would be interested i'm buying some if i had a complete set.
Any ways i hope this site and its users can help with my problem.

Zealot ok look bro i have some money saved up and i really enjoy the game... just because i want to put real money into it does not mean i need a psychologist
@CrazyEgoist thanks for the tip on that
I do like working for my stuff but the people i play with have way better gear with the same class as me and i can't keep up with them on the lvl they farm on.
Just as a heads up, in a game entirely focused on getting new loot, buying that quality of gear will not only trivialize the game to the point of boredom, it will make playing the game pointless as you'll literally never find anything better than it.
If you really do actually love this game like you claim then you should play it, not pay it.

But you see what i enjoy about it is running through the strongest enemy's and trying to find legendary items to see how much they can bring in on the auction house.

You can farm in an efficent way (which is mp0-3) by spending 0$ on your gear, just play a few days, get a few drops, sell them and buy mediocre items and you're good to go.
High end items bring NOTHING to the table at the moment, besides growing your epeen, the difference in loot aquired between average and high end characters is trivial, it's all about how much you farm and or rather how easily you get bored.
Thank you man :). like i said i'm new i have a bit of cash and i like to try and kill the best. but i will most likely just be farming and if you say i don't need top gear i trust your word. i am currently running mp2 and dying alot this is why i wanted to upgrade. would say 250$ be good enough to run through without the risk of dying 20+ times?
I'd say run mp0 act3 for now. It's basically a matter of days (hours if you're lucky) until you get a few drops and upgrade your gear to be mp2 efficent.
Dont waste your cash all it will do is drain you of any goals in this game and cause you to get bored in no time.
I feel that if you pay RM for the BIS gear you may miss the opportunity to experience the special feeling and longevity. But if your set on it you might might want to look to diablo progress for a double check.. http://www.diabloprogress.com/

Tell me what you think ill need to upgrade. that would help out allot. i think i have about 18 hours played so far :/
Don't know much about monks per se, but from what I see in your profile, you lack crit damage and main stats the most.
You need to balance crit and crit damage on your gear, getting a lot of one and almost none of the other is pointless.
Note that all your items dont need to be legendary or set for your character to be able to be efficent, well rolled legendaries are really, really overpriced atm, you should aim for a good balance of stats.

Do you know what end game items are?. I hear my friend talking about them all the time but google comes up with nothing for me.
If we are being honest, there are really no End-Game items because for now, there is truly no end-game aside from farming and raising your Paragon level. I would be blunt and ask him exactly what Items he is referring to. Is he talking about Lacuni's, Vile Wards, Nats Set, Hellfire Rings, etc.
Truth be told, I think he is referring to BiS or Best In Slot and simply saying end-game.
If you choose to spend money on your gear, all the more power to you. I and many others on here may see it as a short-changing yourself on the point of playing this game, but if YOU do not, then play the game the way YOU want to.
Let me just you you a word of advice on the subject and illustrate a point if you will indulge me:
My best friend has spent hundreds if not over $1000 on this game total, with a large portion going towards his monk. What he has to show for it is a Paragon 37 monk that pushes out over 160k dps, can speed through MP5-6 runs easily, and higher with some time devoted to them.
I have spent ZERO dollars on the game. My Paragon 50 monk does considerably less. Approximately 85-90k dps. All found gear, or bought through the GOLD AH using drops sold. I can speed run MP0-2 pretty efficiently and can survive at MP4. Anything higher is a challenge TBH.
Due to the terrible itemization of the game, on average, he and I find the same crap gear. He has yet to FIND a better piece of gear than I have found myself.
With all that money spent, it will not guarantee better drops. It will simply mean that you are able to run through the monsters faster with less hassle and effort.
I agree with arandan. You should check out the link in his post. Some good tips in there.
As mentioned in a previous post, high end gear/items greatly depends on the build you play, and might differ between those. So checking diabloprogress would give you an idea what high end gear could be for a specific build, as it offers you a great deal of specific info. Also keep in mind that play styles may differ aswell for each gamer. I.e, Immo belt (for barb, which i play) could give you an extra % dmg of specific skill like bash or cleave or something else.
Firstly, select skills for your follower.
Secondly, fix your build.
Your gear should be fine for farming MP0, although not efficiently.
No i'm not trolling. i came here for advice and that's exactly what i got.
And i thank you all for posting in this thread i have read all repys and gone through most of the details in the link's you have provided me.
And i have decided to put about 300$ for a few better upgrades to quickly run through mp1-3
Once again i thank you all
If you guys want to play with me some time i'll leave my id here

Oh! and forgot to mention about the end game items he was telling me about. So pretty much what brian wanted me to do i buy a bunch of shit from the auction house so i can be like #205 or something in the world when pvp comes out?
lol diablo 3 wasn't worth $60 and yet you're dropping $1,000 on it? I won't be surprise if a month or 2 months later you'll regret what you did.
Also what is this end game you speak of? Farming keys and kill ubers? Diablo 3 has no end game...

You're SO LATE to this party it's not worth dropping that much money on it if you were thinking you'd find enough items to sell and break even or profit.

Another displeased customer that can't stop visiting D3 fansites.... Why do you complain about how much you dislike the game and piss in the pool of the people enjoying the swim?
The best geared players in the world are not farming MP10 (unless key farming).
For farming paragon levels, the most efficient MP usually MP0. This is because lets imagine a mob has 100HP and you have 100Damage per hit, it will take you 1 hit to kill that mob. Lets imagine that the mob give 100XP. (All these numbers are made up btw for the example). This means if you kill 100 mobs an hour, you gain 10,000 xp.
If you switch to MP1, the mobs have 150% HP. So in this example they have 150HP. You are still doing 100 damage which means it will take you 2 hits to kill the mob. It basically takes you 2x the speed to kill each mob, but you gain LESS than 2x the benifits. Even with 1.0.7 the gain is not 100% per MP level. So with the current numbers of 10% bonus EXP, you will get 110XP per kill. However because it took you 2 hits not 1, you can only kill 50 mobs per hour. This means your xp/h on MP1 is 50x110 = 5,500xp.
As you can see, MP0 was giving you 10kXP/hour but MP1 was giving you 5.5k/h. Which means MP0 is better. Because of the way the scaling works, even with the BEST gear in the game, you will never be able to reach MP10 and farm efficiently for paragon.
(Please note that this is not the only consideration, things like travel time do factor into this and other small factors but this is the basic of the logic)
The best paragon farming spec for monk atm I think is tempest rush. I have build myself a set recently and my GF and although neither of them are perfect, and some items were bought and then I realised they were a mistake, each set cost about 50mill.
If you spent some time you could spend 100mill on a tempest rush set that would be really good for farming MP0 act 3 and 1 shotting all the mobs to be as efficient as possible. 100mill gold costs $25.
You are free to spend your money how you like, but my advice is to spend $25 and build a really nice tempest rush set while you farm paragon levels, and learn more about the game. As you learn more, you will know what stats/items/etc to go for, and will also have found items in game.
Being the top 200 geared for PvP is pointless, as there is no queue, and you can only fight people who agree to fight you. Chances are, this will be people with the same gear as you. or people who have more experience and skill than you. Which means gearing up for pvp when you are new to the game at such a high cost is a waste of money and tbh, time.
Search youtube for "tempest rush monk" and look for the video by "LastHopeForRaoha". He explains the build and also the gear. The only personal thing I changed from his build is using blade storm glyph for sweeping winds, and i cannot remember if he uses seven sided strike but I do for elitest. Blade storm = better for white mobs but not as strong as cyclone for elites. But with SevenSidedStrikes you can 1shot all eliests. Customise the build as you like. With 1.0.7 snapshot changes, chances are this will be a more standard tempest rush build anyway.
But remember, this will cost you no more than 100mill ($25) inc good crit gems and exp gems for helm.
Ok first off you are the shit
Thanks for you're input, i just read what you said and i decided to spend about 300$ on gear to farm mp0-3 not 1000$
I doubt ill be interested in doing PvP at all until i have played the game for at least another 400 hours :/
I have been farming mp0 with what i have now just to learn how to use my build a bit more, and so far its working pretty good :), only sad thing is i haven't found a legendary yet haha still waiting on that first drop.
I unfortunately don't know enough about gearing monks to give any valid advice directly. However, I'd suggest doing a couple of youtube searches and even checking Diablofans news history. There's usually up to date gearing guides for all classes that can be found right here on this site.
That being said, there's some pretty standard best in slot pieces that usually are universally good for all classes.
A high end mempo of twilight with 5%+ crit. A solid witching hour. A Vile Ward with lots of Dex. A lacunis and of course being a monk, inna's pants accompanied with probably a second inna's piece.
Take all that with a grain of salt. Again, check out the videos for more in-depth advice on specific gear.
Also, on a side note, don't give any mind to these people bitching at you for spending a grand on the game. I personally haven't spent any money personally, but I'm a huge advocate for spending money towards your hobbies. If dropping some cash on the game allows you to get more enjoyment out of it, and you don't mind spending it, power to you man! Enjoy!

Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness,
Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps... it is time to die.
Whelp, gloves / wrists / ammy / chest and shoulders crafted after 107 with the specific recipes will have the chance for the highest range in main stat, so don't buy any of those until after so you can try and craft em.
Also note that Blizzard plans at one time in the future to nerf the passive one with everything, so I wouldn't invest in gear that goes towards that (trying to stack all resis on gear plus a certain resis on the same gear).
I'd just like to point out that even $300 is way too much. That's 1.2bil gold. . . you don't need that much to gear a single character. I happen to have spent a total of $50 on gold, all of which I got from selling items through the RMAH. With that, I have geared 8 L60 chars that can easily clear MP 1-5. The kicker is I'm intentionally using less efficient builds for the sake of my enjoyment and the build guides I've been putting up. Had I focused on the best builds, there's no doubt I could have each class farming MP10 very effectively.
I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is and personally walk you through the process of purchasing items if you haven't already done so because I hate it when people waste money without realizing it. In fact, we'll take your $300 and start with the same $50 I spent. I'm betting that's plenty and that whatever we DON'T use you can donate to me, to your cookie fund, to a random stranger in this thread, to charity or whatever else you want.
I have helped many people purchase gear sets both on my stream (have stopped streaming for the moment) and via 1 on 1 sessions like what I'm offering you. I have an strong understanding of the game and know how to work the AH. I can actually TEACH you how to continue buying good gear rather than just pointing you in the direction and hoping you don't mess up.
If you're interested in my offer, shoot me a private message and we'll discuss what kind of build(s) you want to use and how we'll get you there.

I have not spent any money yet.
I am just playing with my build as is on mp0 right now to learn what to do with skills and all that stuff.
I would like to be able to farm mp1-3 without the risk of dying... but i understand it's as much skill based as it is item based.
I just might take you up on that offer but i'm pretty set on what i want to spend.
