I've never experienced the nuisance of not being able to actually kill an enemy quickly enough. When I started playing, a lot of it was just mindless swinging and consuming health potions. To be honest, I never really noticed it. I liked the challenge and, in an odd kind of way, I liked the enemies that had a lot of health.
But, looking back on it, I can see where this does get rather annoying and redundant. Hopefully Bethesda does enough to make it so killing enemies is satisfying as well as challenging. I think that, in the end, I was just anticipating killing the enemy to see what kind of loot they had.
But there's no news coming out, just a bunch of bullshit. I'm just trying to keep the thread alive.
Does anyone like the addition of being able to "craft" weapons? I don't know if we've already discussed this topic in this thread, but it's been said that there's over 10 levels of ore to create armor and weapons and stuff. I'd like to know how far you think Bethesda will take this. I'm not expecting anything incredibly... fluffed (like Sims 3 customization of everything), but I'd like to be able to choose certain things on weapons like decals, finer details, and maybe even woods and metal accents or something. Like choosing a basic sword template and then customizing it to make it unique in one way or another.

I think people get a tad hung up on the features of games too much. So many things you can do in Skyrim admittedly sound pretty cool. But I'm more interested in seeing how they fix the core problems with Elder Scroll games, particularly the ones found in Oblivion. I still say the plot doesn't sound very interesting. Perhaps more so than Oblivion's, but still not nearly as Morrowind's.
I also read more about how they're going to make Skyrim an open ended game with more possible outcomes, the way an RPG should be. I want to choose more whether to side with good or evil or something in between. And I also care that there are boss fights in Skyrim not even counting the dragon encounters. I'll always be so bitter about the F3 and Oblivion endings. They were some of the worst cases of gamer blue balls I ever had.
The reason I brought up this point about features, is cause a game actually can distract you from core elements being flawed by having a ton of features to play with. So I just get a little wary when they announce a new thing such as being able to cook food and shit. I'm like, okay that's nice. But about that crappy character development....
Just found these on youtube, 40 minutes of closed doors skyrim gameplay, from quakecon, I'm not sure if it has been posted already and every other link is going down fast, so, enjoy while you can:
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Only thing to beat Skyrim for GOTY for me would be Diablo 3. Dark souls will be amazing but theres just magic at how many hours you can sink into Elder scrolls games and not even feel exhausted.
I just realized something, and I want to check here to make sure I'm not insane/an accidental time traveler.
But, this game is coming out on 11/11, correct?
But that's a...Friday? When do games come out on a Friday? WTF?
I mean, that's call if it is, I only have to take one day off to get to the weekend (which believe me, I will), but it's just so...strange.
Does it really come out on Friday the 11th?
Oh, and btw, how are you guys getting yours? It seems to be a GFWL game, so that means no steam download, and I would rather not go with Gamestop if I don't have to, I doubt Best Buy or Target will be doing a midnight buy for this, and I don't want to wait for Amazon to deliver it...Any help?
I have it preordered on Amazon.com. It's going to be so amazing. Oblivion... was one of my favorite games ever. I'll never forget the memories. The mods. Everything. I can't put it into words, it has been a very precious game in my life, though.

Ah. I thought it was GFWL, which I thought meant Steam wouldn't share. Guess not.
Dunno where you're seeing it but I'm guessing you saw games for windows, which isn't the same as games for windows live.
Yeah, that's probably what happened. Guess it's not GFWL, although I agree with Gum, with a game that will probably be this repeated/modded, I am going to get the disc version. That means, do I buy gamestop? Or try and get it at Best Buy/Target (do they even do pre-orders?)
Yeah, pretty sure all pre-orders do (or, at least Amazon's pre-orders do).
The thing is, can I pre-order off amazon, and get it the day it comes out? Cause if I can't, I think I'll pre-order gamestop and pick it up on the way home from work.
I'm pretty sure that Amazon will ship before the release date.
Of course, pre-ordering from Gamestop and then picking it up in store is a much more secure option if you really, really want it on the release date. I've never pre-ordered from Amazon before so I don't know when they ship things in accordance to the release date, but everything I've ever pre-ordered has gotten to me before the actual release date.
For me, I'd take my chances and pre-order from Amazon. I've had consistently great service from them and I'd trust them before I ever trusted Gamestop. Then again, I don't like Gamestop in the first place.

Yah Amazon is the way to go, they have amazing service. I think it is going for around 55$ right now, and u can get same day delivery for only 0.99$ to receive the game on the day it is released(i usually get my pre orders around 4pm and I live in the country). Oh and there's no taxes applied to the sale
P.S. i also got a 10$ bonus for pre ordering Mortal Kombat, so i'll only pay 46$ for my elder scrolls copy...yay me
It's a bad gameplay element to allow everyone you feed from to turn into vampires. Unless you can feed on other vampires, then this is pretty much required to become an isolated disease when you are within normal Skyrim society. If everyone you fed from contracted vampirism, then they'd have to also feed and then you'd have a vampirism epidemic. Normal society, in a way, would cease to function properly unless everybody was able to find a cure.
Vampires were severely underplayed in Oblivion. We don't know how they're going to handle them in Skyrim yet, but we know that it's going to be at least how Oblivion vampires were.
I never saw any other benefit to being a vampire other than the new gameplay element it added. It's a good concept, but it made it very undesirable to be a vampire because there was so little you could do. Plus it just got annoying after a while.

Very nice. I'm sort of torn because all of the dark elves look so fugly now, but I'm glad they don't all look the same.
edit: Actually all the females of the humanoid races look like actress Tricia Helfer. Strange....
