Dude you have no clue what you're saying. They would start from Diablo I and go to Diablo III, of course each # a diff movie. They follow the storyline from those, they wouldn't make something random dude.
You seriously don't know what you're saying.

You obviously haven't read anything. Not even the game manual. Do you even know what The Dark Exile is? Do you know why Diablo even went to Tristram in the first place? No, it wasn't so a hero could come and kill him, it was because there is this whole other story and world out there in the Diablo universe that is so much greater than the games. They are making a movie about Warcraft because it has such a great story and background to it, not because its a good game.
Turning a game straight into a movie is crap. You watch a movie to see a great story being told, and you play a game to get involved in a part of that story. You don't play movies, and you don't watch games. Even the cutscenes in the game aren't just detailed battle scenes that are just like what happens in the game. The cutscenes are about what happens outside the battles and not what the player does.
There are many books about Diablo and Warcraft and Starcraft, each of them telling a different story in the same world, but none of them are simply the game converted into a book.
Ya that's true. But I just feel that they will follow storylines. Not 100%. Movies are different then books btw. And they wouldn't make many more then 2 Warcraft movies..... they can't simply make like 7 like the books.
You know I really don't know. But I myself think they will mostly follow the storyline.
There is really two things we have to think about.
With action and excitement, how would they get all the storyline in a Diablo film? But also -
With all the money it requires and time, how will they really get enough of the stories in Diablo to become movies...
I guess we'll just have to see how this turns out
-*I know making a movie on just one story of Diablo would make a bit more sense, with money and time and not a 10hr film and all, but it justs doesn't seem right, 'ya know?
-** Then again, Eragon was a huge story, and they did it in a short film... but it turned out like crap compared to the book

Yeah, its such a complicated issue to work through. And lol, our say in it doesn't even count, hah, so yeah, we'll just wait and see. So many possibilities.
Lol at Eragon. I haven't read any of it, but yeah, the movie definitely could have been better. Aparently they are making two more Eragon movies, though thats just what someone said to me. I'm sure google would have the answer though.
And also, have you seen the Diablo TV Ad? Its pretty good, and has the original five classes in it as real people dressed up. Its old, you've probably seen it, but some people may not have yet.
Lol, nice. I haven't seen it, though I've seen a picture of the "Have a bad dream, hunny?" part. That's good lol.
Eragon 2 and 3 haven't been officially announced, but Eragon 2 book is out and 3rd book is coming.

"Cards and flowers on your window, your friends all plead for you to stay,

Well isn't that the usual problem with top quality cinema? A good director and writer combination come in and straight away want to revise something that works in another format.
Like making changes, subtle and otherwise, to Lord of the Rings. Some of Peter Jackson's artisitic brilliance (even allowing for the fact he really had to make some cuts) were jarring for me.
I've talked to a lot of LOTR fans who were so pissed of at all the little things that the movie got wrong. And those people have no idea how fortunate they were to have a huge movie made of the beloved franchise. And that movie could have easily been a lot worse. It could have been a little better in my ways, but that's not really what matters in my opinion. The important thing for those hardcore fans is that they still have the books, and nothing can take that away from them; the way the story was originally intended to be. And because of this, they simply can't accept the movie as an adaptation of the book and take it for what its worth, and use that medium to compliment whichever aspects of the book possible.
But if the movie was a direct translation of the book, and not an adaptation of it, it never would've seen the light of day. It's amazing enough that Peter Jackson at the time was able to get the deal for all three movies at once and get all the money up front to do it.
There were lots of things in LOTR that pissed me off just cause I couldn't see a good reason for changing things the way they did. Especially the way the slaughtered Faramir's character. Faramir was supposed to represent the good things left in men. He was supposed to show that despite a people being essentially scattered and leaderless and lacking in identity or purpose, that man can still hold dear to him principles of honor and virtue. And that was why when they had him wanting to take the ring that I was sorely disappointed. I almost punched the cardboard cutout of Ben Affleck/Daredevil that was outside the theater.

Sure the Diablo mythology is nothing like LotR. But fans like me are just as keen as LotR fans in not wanting the basics meddled with.
For the sake of making the movie more "commercial" or "accessible" to the general public I'd say - do it but you'll p'off all the die-hard diablo fans.
I agree with you for the most part on this. I myself would be very sensitive to any changes to the essential basics of Diablo. However, it seems as fans of any book or video game that is adapted for film, fans need to prepare themselves a little bit for some disappointment. The good news is Blizzard has always remained committed to a quality product. And I personally believe they care a lot about the fictional universes they've created and also respect fans' opinions and feelings about them.

The fact that the writer has been announced first is a good sign. Shows that the story is paramount and a director will need to work around the story. Rather than have to fit a story into some director's style.
This I'm confused about. Didn't we reach a conclusion there wasn't going to be a Diablo movie after all? I thought it ended up being a Warcraft movie. Does anyone know anything new about these movie rumors anyway?
Wow I saw the DVD cover for Dungeons and Dragons movie, and it actually looks like it would be a good movie. I haven't followed D&D at all though, so I have no clue. Though I hope Diablo or Warcraft don't fail like D&D apparently did.
Don't judge a book by its cover
Yeh, lots of video game movies are failing... but knowing Blizzard (and Legendary Pictures), I don't know about WoW movie... I think it'll be good.

That youtube clip was funny, but it was missing the Paladin.
And about the Diablo or WoW movie, I think it's going to suck. Eragon would have been much easier to turn into a movie than Diablo or WoW and it still sucked. Don't get me wrong Diablo is a great game and Eragon and Eldest are great books, but the movie Eragon sucked. I don't trust any movies made based on games.
bringing an old topic back, I think real actors with lots of CGI (this last part is inevitable, of course.)
and they should aim at rated M, heck, the games were all rated M, so the movie should be no different.
I don't know if focusing so much on the game to the point of "using every strategy from every char" is a good idea.
They sure could have a couple of things like that, or one of them finding an item that looks like, say, messerschmit's reaver (spelling correct?) or even SoJ. I don't know, just some stuff to which we old time diablo fans could relate, that would be fun. But not rely too much on that, just sprinkled on a few scenes.
Say, the Blizzard guys come up with 20 of these ideas and let the screenplay writer decides on a few to really use in the movie.
And, Andariel (or some demon looking like her, depending on the epoch of the movie)
No way would the person responsible for the website go and post "Diablo" when he/she was really told to post "World of Warcraft".
Plus other sources lead people to believe that Legendary are indeed producing two movies - WoW and Diablo.

So we've got over the problem of colour in D3. Great. Now let's argue about everything else not yet set in stone and help make this game simply great! Game on.
I agree that there shouldn't be all the different char abilities/strategies, - I mean... think about whirlwind. What a reckless, stupid looking attack. It would make Diablo the movie a comedy.
I also don't think they'd specialize like the game forces us too. The movie might have a Werewolf druid for example, who will use all skills equally - and cast while in the Wolf form. This wouldn't lessen the value of the movie for me - just gives room for more interesting characters.
Bringing up items we found in the game would be great - Say a quest item? Khalims Flail or Meph's Soulstone. I think the quest items would obviously tie into a story better than any random item of importance. I would enjoy watching someone fastening a rune in their armor... with a symbol we all recognize.. and without an audio confirmation.
The approaches to the books so far have been fairly sound, in that the story focuses around a certain character. The character may be a necromancer or mercenary, or something like that. But it's good they don't just try to cram in a bunch of classes and skills into the story. That was a problem I had with the X-Men movies as they progressed. They just kind of showcased as many mutants as they could without really developing any of the characters very much.

and the movie should be made from diablos perspective, so we could finally find out what he does all the time hes not fighting us
I'd like to see at least a cameo by Zayl and Humbart in the movie
Blizzard seems to have a hands on approch to the books, while still giving the author some space, and I can't see the movie script being much different. This might be one movie based on a game that all the fans will enjoy. Knock on wood.
OMG. This movie is gonna own. Diablo in ultra CGI? Wow.
Read the Update on the announcement young one. Diablo movie is no longer on the Legendary Pictures website.
They put it there to see what kind of internet disturbence it would create. Probably not enough so they removed it.

I disagree, I dont think Whirlwind is a stupid looking attack. If they made it look exactly like the whirlwind in Diablo 2, it might look a little awkward on the big screen. But if you look closely, all the barbarian is really doing is moving and swinging his sword at a super fast rate, get rid of the tornado look to it and its just a barbarian in a onslaught frenzy of death. If they made Whirlwind in the movie, it would either just be one quick spin to hack a couple monsters, or it would just be a Barbarian charging into a crowd of monsters and swinging his swords in a 180 degree fashion around his body, real fast.
