Or it could all just be a hoax, or just a cleverly designed plan to lure Diablo fans into watching the movie area news so that they might be dragged into WoW, or maybe they will make the movie terrible so that people will be drawn to their more lucrative franchise instead of the once-paid-and-done one. They always say that they are trying to express each of their ''franchises'' equally and what-not, but in all reality we all know what they really want to do, and it's what they've been doing since they started working on WoW. It's their brainchild, a gold-plated, diamond imbued brainchild that 6 million people will pay outrageous monthly prices to play. (What is it? $10? That's like $60,000,000 each month, and $720,000,000 a year, and it came out when? 2004-ish? That's a grand total of $2,160,000,000. I doubt they'd want to do more with Diablo, which only brought in like $100 million or so, than WoW, which brought in more than $2 billion.)
I personally would want it to be dark, and creepy. Probably a bit gory too. Depending on how dark they would go, it would have to be Real life kinda thing, simply because seeing real people in a movie appeals more to the imagination, rather than seeing all animated people. Subliminally, people react better to emotion when the things happening to the main character seem real.
So If you want to talk quality, live-action is the way to go. They did really well with Transformers it looks like, so I dont see why they can't do it here.

Or you could be right. Lol.
somehow i can't see a company like blizzard being so heartless..... they know there's a load of diablo fans out there for a kicker... i mean how many people have signed the petition?
thats pretty old news. they didnt say "unspecified" they just said "upcoming Blizzard Entertainment game". And Blizzard does play with words alot. Only upcoming Blizzard game announced is StarCraft II, so the chances stand with it.
Somewhat off topic, but in response to the banter of game/movie possibilities -
I'm in the camp leaning toward a Diablo game announcement (hopefully). Call it blind optimism, but I just recently discovered that Blizz is resetting the D2X ladder:
This is an act they haven't carried out since 2005 - if my figures are correct. Also, they have listed somewhat disingenuous information in their FAQ on the Arreat Summit page regarding the reset dates, pointing toward a more relaxed policy of server maintenence and upgrades.
Blizzard has always been paramount in supporting their aging titles, no doubt, but since the last patch they've had no viable reason to continue to do seasonal ladder resets on the D2/D2X realms (aside from overload, but no conceivable upgrades in the recent past). I think they're sending us a nice new hint here that Diablo fans are not forgotten.
I believe we'll be the last to see our new shiny sequel, but patience will eventually pay off.
But keep in mind anyone can edit Wikipedia. I know LP is making a diablo film, I saw it on their site. Just take everything you read on wiki with a grain of salt.
You've probably seen that before though. But its obvious anyway that they would eventually create a series of Diablo films, because eventually could mean 100 years down the line. I just hope its made while I'm in my youth.
And I don't like how these guys think the film will turn out:
Triple H, or do you mean vin deasel, or how ever u spell it. i atchually would like him for it, but i bet you ANYTHING that the movie is going to be made kind of like FF movies, but with more of the animaters personalaties.
*shhh, i cant spell ~_~*
