I just picked up the Crysis maximum edition at Best Buy the other day and I'm waiting for my new laptop to arrive so I can play it. I was just wondering if anyone here has/had it and would like to give me their two cents on it. I know it got great reviews like "Best Shooter ever made" and "Hardware strainer" (the hardware shouldn't be a problem for me). But yeah it's just sitting on my desk here waiting for a decent computer and I'm dying! Thoughts on Crysis or the sequel later this year?
It is far from the best shooter ever made, but it is fun from time to time. The story is good albeit a little generic, and it is beautiful. It's not so much of a strainer now a days, I've had a card that can max it for a while but it's still beautiful. I'm excited for the second one because I'm a bit of a sci-fi nut but I'll probably just arrrrrgh! it.

Well, finally something that this forum can strike common sense on.
Its not a bad game, though. I couldn't play through a second time. It was just way too boring at that point, though I tried.
At first, I think the game brings some fun gimmicks to play with and kill your enemies. Its quite fun at first, really, especially with the invisibility part. But there comes a point where its not so new anymore and it doesn't seem to bring the game much more. In the end, I say it was pretty damn repetitive. Its still fun to play around with, but the fun doesn't last.
I don't remember the game varying things much either. Biggest bad point is the "2nd part of the game" which is absolutely horrible in term of gameplay. It looks and feel impressive, but the new it tries just completely failed to be entertaining. Though I remember the look and the atmosphere to be very convincing.
So yeah, this is probably the only game I could say that, the graphics and the whole visual part had a bigger impact than the gameplay in the end. And when it comes down to it, its a bad thing. Not a bad experience, but far from a top shooter or revolutionary in any way.
Another big problem is that enemies can see you from across the island no matter what. It's amazing, you have invisibility, but they have bionic eyes and radar ears.

I thought it was kinda weird that the boats could see you anywhere.
I mean, I was below it and it started shooting.
Yes! At the first major point, the first time you see a fucking boat, I peek my head out to look through my binoculars and I hear Engrish flying as well as bullets. It's like, c'mon mang.

Thanks for telling me that I just wasted my money guys... Jk lol. I'm still crazy exited to play it, but now I'll watch out for those issues. And yeah I wasn't expecting the gameplay to surpass the visuals in any matter, so as SFJake said, the graphics are the big impact and what it's known for. And which is why I got it, to basically test my new laptop.
