Dudes! It's coming out this month. I had no idea it was going to be released so soon. Though it has been maybe eight years since the last Wolfenstein game. I'm hoping to get it the day it comes out. http://www.wolfenstein.com/
Check out the Protoss Zealot. I mean, Veil Assassin.
So anyway, I'm hoping it has a multiplayer option like the last game did. I hope to see some of you on Xbox with it.
There were cyborg Nazis in Return to Castle Wolfenstein as well as the undead. What's really cool I think is this game mechanic they have called the Veil. It's like this fabric of space that you can enter for a short period of time and see other creatures living in it. While in the Veil you can also slow down time and do powerful attacks against your enemy.
Ah, only briefly played return to castle wolfenstein (that was the 3D one, no ?) at a friends house, never got to the cyborgs/undead :/.
I remember there being a cyborg nazi in the old 2D version though, if I remember correctly you had to use the minigun against him.
I've only ever played those old school 2D ones... oh, fond memories.
That veil mechanic sounds very interesting though. Are there different creatures living in it? Like is it a parallel universe type of thing, or just a mechanic allowing you to essentially slow down time and do more damage to enemies in normal space ?
Sorry bout the questions, it's just that I actually can't view those videos, I'm still rolling with dial up.

That was actually Hitler in a mechanized suit. Episode 3 if I'm not mistaken.

It actually is like a place. It's part of the story. Sort of like an ethereal universe that exists behind the fabric of normal space. And yeah there are weird insectoid looking creatures in it. It's cool cause everything turns all green.
Ah, yeah that ones working.
Will take fucking forever to load though.
So... I'll get back to you with my opinions in about an hour.
edit: Damn... halfway loaded the video, and this one is definitely going onto my watch list.
I really like how they handled the transition into the veil, I love how it seeps into place, it isn't abrupt or sudden, it just flows nicely into place.
And also, is this based on the Hellboy series? I never really followed the story of the games, I was too young to comprehend what was actually going on in the first wolfenstein, and I had never played RtCW. Definitely going to have to read up on the storyline thus far.
And now back to waiting...
Hmm, go to about 3:08 in the video... theres about 2 seconds of some sort of assassin (I'm assuming that Veil assassin) running by, trailing energy. Looks like a pretty badass combat sequence. Looking forwards to seeing more of whatever this enemy/boss is.
Aha, and it is being released for the PC as well, good.

That is so cool. RtCW had some cool multiplayer scenarios. Like one guy was an LT, a soldier, an engineer, and a medic. You would do things like plant bombs in the enemy base or capture a beach sort of like D-Day stuff.
I'm okay with not having seen any zombies so far. All the other supped up monsters scare the shit out of me anyway. The first time I saw one of those flamethrower guys in the sewer I freaking panicked. It took a lot the first time to take one of those guys down.
The boss battles so far have been very innovative I think. Mostly because of the Veil that by being in it you are allowed to see where an enemy's weakness is or it's only vulnerable spot. I wonder though if some further game testing might have revealed some spots in the game where combat fatigue definitely occurs. I got done fighting this huge ass bug monster in a castle and it was such a long mission with tons of killing that when I was all done with it, I just wanted to be able to go back to the black market at my relaxed leisure and purchase some upgrades for my weapons. But the Nazis weren't having it. The moment I got back into the town square I'm just totally swarmed with zombies and now I gotta help a guy disable a radio tower while these assholes on jetpacks are firing huge fuck off missiles at me. I was like, "Oy, this is too much right now."
I know Doom 3 was sort of like that in that sense. Where you hardly ever got much of a break. And I guess it would be somewhat predictable if I could always just go do a mission and then return peacefully to the Kreissau Circle or the black market. But anyway....
This game kicks ass so far. And I haven't even tried the multiplayer yet.
Yeah yeah, I like how unpredictable it is, not exactly the main storyline (we've all seen it before), but more the twist of events... I was always like "crap not now"
I also like how it's not just pretty maps or architecure that was later filled with enemies, but it's all planed what your movements will be, place to hide here, duck behind THIS table, snipe guy running across the room just as you open scope, look it's a way out... BOOM! etc. Good scripting really gets you in the role.. and fun to play- like Prey. You should try out that shooter if you haven't already.

lol it can still easily be a ranger since who said you cant shoot arrows at melee distance xD

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
I finished the game the other night. The campaign seemed shorter than RtCW's. But it was still an amazing game. Oof, some of those weapons are so freaking fun. Possible none more fun than the Mauser rifle with scope. I loved shooting the limbs off Nazis.
I think I'm gonna replay it and tweek the difficulty one level. It's also worth replaying I think just to upgrade different weapons and try them out more as well as upgrading different Veil powers.
They didn't seem to put an awful lot into multiplayer. I mean, it's obviously no Halo 3 when it comes to matchmaking. I could find any discernible strategy in my multiplayer game but to run around wild and shooting anyone I could find. Not much hiding, or using specific weapons for specific tasks. I'll need to give it more of a try though. But so far I'm not too impressed with it.
No matter though, the campaign was still fun as hell. Seemed a little short like I said, but definitely has replayability as well.

Agreed, it just seems like all they did is throw in a bunch of players into a map and told them to kill each other, and didn't really think about balancing.

I never even knew another Wolfenstein was in development.
Oh how I miss the days of killing 2D nazis...
Looks like we're getting... cyborg nazis ?
Will have to check this out, hopefully it will be released on PC as well, as I won't be able to buy an Xbox for quite a while.
