Ok, so I recently bought myself a badass new gaming computer, and since I've gone without recent games for a solid year or so now, I have no fucking idea where to start.
Went out and got Fallout 3, which is definitely a badass game, but I dunno what to get next.
As for genre preferences, anything cept for sports games, and WW2 games. The WW2 games were fun for a while, but for christ sakes, you see them fucking everywhere now.
So! Any suggestions would be appreciated :D.
edit: Shit, I'm a dumbass. Should have posted this in the other games forum. If any mods or whatnot see this, move er' over please and thank you :D.

Played both fear games, and the Hl2 games up till EP1.
The FEAR games blew my fucking face off, so many fond memories from playing them lol.
First one I played all alone in the middle of the night, tripped up on red bull, with headphones. Can't count how many times I nearly had a heart attack.
Second one I didn't buy, played it with a bud who had a 360. Wasn't as good as the first I must say, scare wise anyways. Guess it was just because we'd seen everything before, and they didn't do many new things to scare us aside from that shit with the fucking elevator, god that was horrifying.
Aha! Forgot about DOW2, good call man ^^.
Will have to pick it up soon.

Depends what you like
Games I can recommend are
Far Cry 2 (FPS)
Company of Heroes Gold Edition (WW2 RTS)
Mass Effect (Sci-Fi RPG)
Half-Life 2 and episodes 1 and 2 (FPS)
BioShock (FPS)
Loki (RPG in the vein of Diablo)
Left 4 Dead (Co-op Zombie shooter)
Team Fortress 2 (multiplayer FPS)
Borderlands (FPS/RPG not out yet but I'm getting it)
Ah, good thing you warned me Zhuge, was just about to run down to Futureshop and check how cheap it was. At the moment, I have no internet on my new comp. Waiting to get a new DSL connection.
@Dunhac
Been hearing good things about L4D and Mass Effect, might have to try them out one of these days. Will definitely be getting TF2 once I get my internet, it looks like too much fun :D.

Prototype is great as are Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3. I can't speak for Mass Effect as my computer can't run it. (Found that out the hard way after downloading the demo). I'd recommend CoD5, but you said no WW2 games - even though that is basically the best one I can think of.
Was considering prototype, but I tossed that one aside after playing it at a buds house.
I mean it's a great game, but I don't think it's one of those games I could get tons of gameplay out of. It's fun, but more like... arcade fighter fun. I usually prefer games that you can play the same character for like... 100 fucking hours. Morrowind is a prime example, as well as Oblivion. In case you didn't notice, RPG's are my favorite genre ^^.
Left 4 Dead definitely looks good though, will pick that one up if I get my money back from the game I just bought. Why oh why did I venture to the bargain bin...
And also, I fucking loved spore. Another one of those games I briefly played at a friends house. At first glance it looked all kiddish, but it was a really fun game. I got as far as the tribal stage, the creature stage was a hell of a time though :D.
Thanks for reminding me of that one man, forgot about it.

i just immigrated from the DoW2 boards.
Relic seems to be doing all they can to make the game better but THQ just seems to fuck them in the ass whenever it can.
THQ just made them change the forum for no good reason and the new forum sucks, a lot less functions, weird to read, totally lousy search system, you can't even find your own posts and alot of regulars have left
the game itself was so much better in the pre-patched pre-released beta.
Relic just seems to want to change all the races into just reskins of each other
that is MP though, the SP version is one of the best RTS SP campaigns i've played, gameplay-wise although the missions will get boring
Hitman: Blood Money (best in series, and they are already working on Hitman 5)
Assassin's Creed
Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena (one of the most underrated game series ever)
World In Conflict (pretty much the best RTS of the last decade)
Burnout: Paradise (a *lot* of fun, even on the PC)
Dead Space
edit: spore is a failure. it got miserably boring about an hour or two into the final (space) stage, to the point of uninstalling. many people will share this opinion with me.

I agree. I played spore long enough to reach the space stage, started annihilating 1-2races, but I had no more fun at this point. Started another colony, and got bored before even reaching tribal stage, uninstalled and never played again.
However, my older brother who isn't a gamer at all, loved this game, told me he passed 'tons of hours'(Which probably means like... 10hours, in the eyes of a non-gamer ^_^) on this game, and still has fun!
Anyway, we arent here to discuss of a particuliar game, so here are the games I'm spending my gaming time on, while waiting for StarCraft2(and ultimately, Diablo3), they aren't really new games, but they're the ones that I still have a lot of fun playing(I'm mostly a multiplayer games fan, so) :
Sid Meyer's CivilizationIV(Turn-based Strategy) -> I know it's kinda old for your new awesome gaming box, but man, I go back to this game every few months, and I can't get bored of it.
Battlefield Heroes(FPS) -> It doesn't require a huge PC, but in multiplayer, I'm having a lot of fun with this game recently, and it's totally free to download and play online(I'm not a fan of F2P games, but this one is great)
WarCraft3 (RTS and any custom game) -> Still has a great multiplayer replayability value, and a lot of great custom maps.
Yeah I know, maybe I'm too classic in my suggestions...But that's the game I still play, even though I have a pretty recent computer... I bought a few ones recently, but mostly on Xbo360, or the others got me bored pretty quick...

Damn you! I was going to suggest that one!

Not sure if you're into this kind of game but:
Sims 3
Spore
Are also very good games.

Battle not with monsters lest you become one.

Hitman BM is another one of those games I played at a friends house, good game. Should probably go pick that one up as well.
And Civilization is amazing, as is WC3, I think I actually still have my WC3 disks laying around somewhere, thanks for the reminder :D.
