Ray Muzyka has described Dragon Age: Origins as the spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate series (the PC ones not the console ones), I have longed for a game that was as immense as BGII (with TOB installed), but with only a handful of of player characters Warrior, rogue, wizard, available in DA: O can it really be called the spiritual successor to a series that had over 9 classes and 50 character types (sub classes and mutliclassed/dual classed combinations). Seems like a bold statement. BGII was an RPG in the true sense of the word, err.. words. You could be anything you wanted (well within the limitations of 2E DnD rules).
But that is a minor point. Legend of Zelda has a huge story and it has one playable character. BGII was famous, if not imfamous for it's huge story and throngs of characters that even the minor talk to them once NPCs seemed interesting. And let us not forget the major characters, ones that epitomised the game, Minsc the heroic barbarian from Rashamen (although in the game he was actually a ranger) and his faithful animal companion Boo, the Minature Giant Space hamster (though you are sure he is just a regular hamster). And let us not forget Joneleth Irenicus, the manical, powerful and all the other encounters that were just so, in a word epic, Kangaxx the talking skull, Lilarcor the talking sword, evil sewer dwelling cults, a dwarf haunted by the ghost of a child he murdered who just wants his teddy bear back, a rich baron who is really an evil dragon, a twisted tanner who wears the skin of his victims.
Will try this game out to see if it lives up to the hype, personally I find such claims outlanding, unwarranted and more often that not, ruin the game. Who here was severly dissapointed when the so called next Diablo's were well, not the next Diablo at all?

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

This is the first I'd heard of Dragon Age: Origins (yeah, I'm out of the loop), but I'll definitely be putting this on my list of games to watch. I loved Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, so I'll have to check this one out.

Anyways, this game actually looks pretty interesting. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

If it's as good as the video I just saw on it's home site, I might get it...
