Hearing the news that my favorite band's (The Mars Volta) long awaited 6th LP has just leaked immediately tossed me in a moral dilemma. The album comes out in 26 more days, and I plan on pre-ordering the vinyl version as soon as it becomes available, but can I wait to listen to it? I thought it may be an interesting question to pose. Specifically as it regards to bands or media in which is important to you, and you feel some emotional attachment to it's creator, do you buy or download?
... Come on now dude, they worked hard on the album. If you want the album, and have the cash buy it. I mean am sure you won't like it if you make something, and it got leaked and ppl just download it for free.
As long as you buy it I see no issue. I always pre order an album that I highly anticipate and then ones that I'm not sure about I'll download then decide if I want to buy it. I'm sure some people will see that downloading music no matter what is wrong but in the end it's all about the money. If an artist showed up to your house and said "Hey bud you downloaded our album what the hell" you could show them the real album, 3 t shirts and a concert ticket and I'm sure they'll thank you for your support instead of wanting your head.
I would download it only if you've already bought it. Once it becomes available for pre-order and you put the money down, you have the liberty to listen.

If it's good, buy it.
Simple as that. *Shrug*

I wonder what would happen if everyone did everything for free, and everything was free.
