Since 1920, the world's population has been growing at an exponential rate, reaching 2 billion in 1927, 3 billion in 1960, 4 billion in 1974, 5 billion in 1987, and 6 billion in 1999. It's projected to reach 7 billion by Halloween by the United Nations, but the United States Census Bureau pushes it back until next March. With the almost explosive world population growth, we've experienced a rather severe increase in things humans do, i.e. eating, defecating, farting, but namely breathing. I had a thought that seemed a little silly, but had that kernel of plausibility that odd facts normally have. I wondered that with the enormous increase in breathing, where does all the body heat we give off go?
It's been said that adults breathe 18,000 - 30,000 times a day. We have approximately 3.8 or 3.9 times more people giving off that heat than we did 100 years ago. Is that enough to make a difference in the world climate?
In short, global warming is caused by mouth breathers.
I've never taken that into consideration, but it seems like a very minute factor. Scientists think that the primary cause of global warming is heat becoming trapped in our atmosphere. Our breath doesn't heat the surrounding air as much as we think it does, especially if the air is warmer than our breath (which is surely the case in places like India where the population is very large in comparison to the US).
Our breath cools too quickly. For an analogy, it would be like adding a drop of cold water to a gallon of room temperature water.

My new years resolution is to stop my contribution to global warming. Looks like I will have to stop breathing
If there was a noticed sense of sarcasm in that, its because I did it one purpose and was only joking ^^. But honestly the topic of global warming has been around forever, and it is a constant uphill battle for people who are actually trying to get people to understand how much it is effecting our climate.
It is an issue but what can you do. At least that's my opinion on it.
The earth goes through cycles. In a very long time (a couple thousand more years) we will have another ice age. The entire earth will be covered in it and a lot of species will die. Then the internal heat created by Earth spinning will slowly warm the planet from the inside out. This 'global warming' is another cycle, just like seasons. There is literally nothing at this point humans can do to screw up the earth permanently. Even with a nuclear winter, Earth will right itself. Go ahead and throw all that Al Gore crap this way, and I'll point out the fact that almost every single number and statistic given has been proven false.
100% agree with Snaks42 global warming is total BS.

In this world...
Is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law?
Is it like the hand of god hovering above?
At least, it is true...
That man has no control, even over his own will.
I think I should clarify; while I don't necessarily believe in the "global warming" theory as it's presented, one should note that environmentally friendly technologies have a clear financial benefit for those who use them. That's another thread though. I just didn't want people to get confused between the two movements; the Green movement is more concerned with technological proficiency to further protect our environment while global warming theory supporters are more concerned with further preventing the increase in temperature that they think is caused by human activity.
In fact, I'll go make that thread again.

Unfortunately the global warming debate has become a left verses right political topic. The right say global warming data is inconclusive and therefore a hoax despite the vast majority of climatologists and respected bodies such as the IPCC, NOAA, and NASA in agreement that climate change is occurring. The right has formulated a conspiracy theory that the leftist evil money grubbing scientists are just trying to cash in and are all too fast to come to the defense of those kindly benevolent oil companies (who care nothing for money at all :D) scientists who say global warming is a hoax. Their argument is purely political.
So if it’s irresponsible for scientists to assert global warming is real as the right assert. Then I submit it’s even more irresponsible for political pundits who don’tunderstand anything about science like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity (both college drop outs BTW) to summarily dismiss it as a hoax when they have even less data to disprove it. The prudent course of action would be to learn more, not turn a potential hard reality into a political talking point. That to me IS irresponsible. Instead of even considering the possibility conservative politics have just taken a position against it, instead simply choosing to believe people like John Coleman of the CEO of Weather Channel who claimed a few years back to have 30,000 scientists who would refute global warming and suggested he'd sue Al Gore for his assertions, but then never did. He even goes so far to accuse NASA of being part of the global warming scam. John Coleman is a 77 year old entrepreneur, he stopped being a weatherman many, many, years ago.
I don't know where the truth lies but my position is this...
There is no reason to not get off fossil fuels; we already know smog is a health risk which can lead to terminal illnesses like cancer and severe asthmatic problems. Why the hell would anyone want to ingest smog and all that crap? The last 8 presidents have offered the idea lip service. Had we aggressively pursued domestically produced alternative fuels years ago we might be in much better shape today in a number of ways.
We would have created new business
Created new good paying jobs here at home
Have a high demand exportable good
We would have quit giving our good money to oil rich terrorist states
Terrorists would not be able to afford a plane flight over to the US and we would not need to meddle in the Mideast hardly at all. Can anyone tell me why we shouldn't reduce our dependence on oil? I haven't heard a good argument yet.
With more people come more households and therefore more appliances. The simple solution to global warming is for everyone to simply leave their fridge doors open.

Ignorant.
You're being too civil about it.
"Head-in-the-sand-anti-science-doof," is a better descriptor.
When the Koch Brothers fund a global warming inquiry and it comes up with "yes it's real," as an answer. There shouldn't be a doubt left in anyone's mind. This isn't a liberal conspiracy, it's a fact. Debate the extent of the climate change that's going on if you want, but don't deny the fact that it's changing at an acclerated rate. That much is evident.
I haven't read/researched about Global Warming in probably 3 or 4 years (when I was in high school) so I'm just speaking on the top of my head. So if you want to argue with me, go ahead, you'll not necessaries be wasting your time, perhaps you'll just be a 0.0001% better typer than you were before...
Let me just start by saying that I think global warming does in fact exist. Someone who thinks otherwise is...well just give me researched proof that state otherwise.
There has been contradicting findings (not gonna go search the internet for it now, I know I read/heard it somewhere) regarding Global Warming. Not necessarily whether it exist or not, but rather whether it is happening at the accelerated rate which has been drilled into our heads.
For instance, I remember when I watched "An Inconvenient Truth". Al Gore was showing pictures of a certain place in the Arctic (a big ice cap I think) over a 25 years span or something and as one would expect, the ice cap gradually melted away.
Other studies regarding the annual rise in temperature has shown that the temperature may in fact have decreased or kinda flat-lined for a period of years some time ago and then raised again (not talking about a Ice age).
But if you think of it, the fact that our sun's rays are being trapped inside our atmosphere because of the increase in greenhouse gasses, surely then every year's temperature must increase?
With more people come more households and therefore more appliances. The simple solution to global warming is for everyone to simply leave their fridge doors open.
And kill all cows...and don't drive/support hybrid/electric cars...and give research money for hydrogen fuelled cars. Simple as that.
