Ok, so i know the game isn't out yet, but i was wondering if anyone could help me out with some data usage problems i might face.
So first off, i just recently switched from dial up to a 4g lte service through verizon, using my smartphones hotspot feature. My limit is 10gb per month, so will it be enough to play D3??
Iirc, diablo 3 is going to be running constantly through battle net server, corrrect?? if thats the case, will this cause me to use up more data?? ive also read that hosting games uses up more data, but will i be hosting games at all or will it all be hosted through battlenet?
I work a full 40 hour week, so ill be playing about 4 hour weekdays, and all day weekends(for at least the first month of realease ;D ). So my question i guess is, will the 10gb be enough to play D3. Anyways all help is appreciated
p.s. Ill be doing all the huge updates at a friends house, that way i wont have to download 3gigs of data and lose 1/3 of my diablo playtime.
I am confident that you will not exceed 50% of that amount (5 GB) even if if you play approximately twice of what your estimated playtime is and do full 24 hours on each weekend. {(5x4)+(24x2)]*2 =136 hours.
Of course you will use your internet for more than just D3. It is still worth keeping track of your data usage patterns using whatever utility your ISP provides.
Sweet, ill probably run the smaller (100mb) updates, as well as a few youtube videos and some web browsing, email, etc.
Glad to hear i wont burn through too much of my data.
Also, anyone have an idea of how much data a program like vent will use up?
WoW uses (not from first hand reports, but from posts on Battle.net) anywhere from 5MB (solo) to 100mb (25-player raid) per hour. You can expect similar data usage I reckon - anywhere from 10-25mb/hr.
That means if you're playing, say, 20 hrs a week on your card (and 10 hours ACTUALLY WORKING, right?) you can estimate make a top-end estimate of about 2gb/month (but likely much lower). Sounds like that's well within your available caps, just keep an eye on usage if you do any media streaming/dl/ul.
