More nub troll posts.... yay for open beta and people finally paying attention to info that came out over a year ago... next. Long story short, it's so you don't have a screen full of shit and can identify maybe where your standing and it's easier for balancing difficulty.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
The wall of text has some valid points in regards to the constant internet connectivity required though. It's just that they are two years too late when this was a new discussion.
I too was from one of those areas at one time where line attenuation during a storm would wreak havoc on a connection, causing constant drops. That alone would cause me to never have a hardcore player. Also not a big fan of the server maintenance downtimes. I know they are usually smaller based on the SC2 experience, but it is still an inconvenience that should have been avoided.
I hope it is found that an integral part of the game mechanics are spawned server side in the future, like the generation units. That would make me a little more happy about this being a connected game. Much better than the piracy excuse.
The camera distance is too low. Besides that, four players will be fine. Was there potential for something more? Yeah probably, but oh well.
I agree with the camera distance, really would have liked a zoom in and out via mouse wheel function, it's really not that hard to implement. Yes you can press Z to snap zoom in, but there isn't varying degree's of zoom and you can't zoom in enough with Z to fully appreciate the details in the armor/weapons you have, which is a simple function that should have been left in.
What's so bad about it if you don't mind me asking?
I have more than 4 friends I play Diablo with. We've played together as a group since Diablo 2 came out. Group of Highschool friends who live far apart now and our means of staying in touch are in games. WoW, D2, TF2, etc. Limiting us to not being able to all play togther as we did in D2 is just stupid.
@Thatyrael Great post, you sure bring some dumb to the table.
Wait, you call him dumb after doing the exact same thing that you did? On top of that, your logic is "D3 is ruined because I can't play with more than three of my friends". I wish I had a stamp for irony to put all over this.
I don't see the problem with limiting group size to 4. Any more than that and you just end up waiting for people to pee, let out the dog, smoke, get a beer, or get yelled at by their mom.
This says it all. Dont make a thread to just troll and provide no incite. Sometimes i wish mods deleted this worthless waste of room type of thread. OP made the acc just to post 4 posts whining. Go Arnold, he sums it up in 5 seconds.
No, the dumbest freakin' thing they could possibly do is require a constant internet connection!! My god, seriously??? It's not an online game unless you want it to be one AND THEN you should (obviously) have an internet connection. Eight years! I've been waiting for this game for eight years -- the waiting, the hype, the waiting.... and it SUCKS!!! (awesome graphics, though) But seriously... no character customization, no zooming in or out, and... click to move? I understand that the original Diablo was click to move, I understand sentiment, tradition, what have you, but PC gaming has advanced. The game is VERY dissappointing in my opinion, especially the constant internet connection requirement. Diablo 3 plays like a game that was developed 10 years ago with modern day graphics. Where's the advancement, the evolution of PC gaming? Didn't Blizz make WoW? What... is their Diablo 3 department where they put the newbie programmers before they graduate to the WoW department?
So... if there's a storm in my neck of the woods (pretty common) and my internet goes down (also common) I can't play Diablo like I'm used to playing Diablo? I'm subject to server down time for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? I have to put up with lag for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? I have to wait in a queue because the server's full for a game that's not an online game unless I want it to be an online game? When I played Diablo 2 I played on Battlenet exactly once; I usually played it by myself or with a friend on a private network -- it's not an online game! Unless, of course, I want it to be an online game.
Am I ever gonna use Diablo 3's online auction house? No, I like finding my own stuff and I don't really care about putting the crap I find on the AH. Am I ever gonna play on Diablo 3's public servers? No, I can't imagine sharing that small of an environment with a bunch of rude and careless newb's, especially when I think about how rude players were and how cut-throat WoW became after just a couple of years (who can forget the dicks that went AFK while sitting on a mailbox in Org. on their mammoth war mounts?)
Diablo has always been a game that I played while unwinding after a busy (or even not-so-busy) day, before going to bed and usually ended up playing too long (and not getting enough sleep) because I enjoyed exploring a zone and kept logging out and resetting the zone so I could explore it again -- alone, and occasionally with a friend.
Am I gonna buy Diablo 3? No. After all the waiting and all the hype, I expected too much and am too dissappointed with it -- if it didn't require a constant internet connection, I'd buy it just to relive the good ol' days and, out of curiousity, see what's new in the game, but I'm too bummed out with the way it came out and the constant online thing is just too much for me.
Ah wow.
Internet connection stops hackers, so blizzard can constantly monitor the game so the real money auction house doesn't get screwed over by hackers.
No character customization? We play as a character with a background and story, not a random character we can make up like in WoW.
You can zoom in by pressing z.
Click to move helps make the game unique over other games (in my opinion)
No one cares about your lack of internet, we are in the second decade of the 21st century, your in the extreme minority of gamers who don't have access.
No one cares that you don't want to use the Auction house either, since the majority of players do, and it stops online sites from scamming players to buy items off them.
I agree with the thing you said about WoW, its why I quit because everyone was just a backstabber.
Sure, its not the best game in the world, but it will be excellent to pass time on boring days where there is nothing better to do.
I'm not sure if someone has posted this already, but i think one of the reasons they limited it to four was because the graphics are so much more cpu intensive than Diablo II, and that 8 people in one game would be a bit of an overload.
i totally see why they used 4 max players . . . but i was really hoping for 5. just so i can roll in a group with 1 of each class =( but blizzards right in making it 4 players max because of the shit thats going on in the screen

Eventually, there will be new classes when the expansions come out. So even with 5 player games, there will always be a time when you can't have 1 of each class. Might as well be 4 rather than 5, if that's what they found worked best.

As dumb as this thread?
Games not even released yet. Chill.

At least this isn't hyperbole, and is backed by very articulate arguments and facts.

Ah wow.
I already use only a mouse LOLOLOL
4 is a solid number, 8 players in Diablo 2 was just chaos.
You must have missed out on Diablo 1.
You know - that game that has a four player cap and started the series.
Or the countless other A-RPG's with a 4-player cap.
Oh? You didn't even think of them? Stfu.
