Alright, I figured this would be a solid time to post this question to you guys! Seeing how new information seems to be coming slowly lately, how about you all share some personal experiences or advice with me.
So here is the thing: My girlfriend (whom I love very much, mind you) is not a "gamer". I am, and she is aware. I already told her a few months ago that once Diablo 3 gets released, she most likely will have to compete with my computer a bit .
What I really want to do, and have been attempting to do, is slowly convert her into a video game addict. It would be pretty fantastic if she played release with me and my buddies. Do any of you guys have experience in this area/have a gamer S.O.? She has a Wii, and has played it and she is also very open to trying new things. I know she is secretly a lot more nerdy than she gives herself credit for, I just need to bring it out more!
My girl are into make-up, and I do mean it as a job/study. She sits alot with her own computer and doing stuff beside the computer that usually take hours. And we do not live with eachother yet. So there is no problem here, she do know about the Diablo 3 and I dont talk about the game to her that much. That is why Im online on this forum 24/7.

Not to be sexist or anything but women rarely enjoy games as in depth as guys do. Not to say that there aren't avid female gamers, but gaming is a majorly male driven convention. But studies have show that women thoroughly enjoy simulation games such as the Sims. Buy her a Sims game and get her to play it.

I'm backing this up, get her into sims or something a girl gamer could get a kick out of. Once she's warm on that, introduce her to diablo. Mention co-op and such things lol.
She did reveal that she used to play the Sims when she was younger. Maybe I should buy her the new Sims for Christmas haha. So far I got her really hooked on The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. She is reading the books lol
Not sure if this will work in every situation but my girl says "that i ignored her so much she didnt have a choice if she wanted to communicate with me" but ofcourse that can be up for speculation either way i dont suggest that to others
my wife wasnt into games at all when we got married. she knew i was a super nerd going into the relationship but since we never lived together or talked video games it wasnt a big deal. soon as we moved in together it became this big issue because i played WoW so much. i tried to manage my time but we always fought over it. i kept telling her to watch me play and she started to a few times and i slowly started explaining things to her when she asked questions and then she tried the trial version then bam she was hooked playing MORE then me, it was awesome. shes going to play D3 with me on release as well because wow opened up her nerdiness. she liked achievements and decorating her character alot (pfft women.. <_<) but it helped that wow was like that and im glad D3 has the achievement system cuz she will enjoy it.

Yeah when we move in together, I am REALLY hoping that it doesn't become an issue. When she watches TV over here, I usually play and she doesn't mind, but I don't play nearly as much as I used to (school).

Lol some guys are complaining on how gear looks and that it dose not go with the theme of diablo.
If your girlfriends a bit of a perfectionest achievements could be a good hook.

Yeah "watch TV together" lol
I am thinking Portal 2 might be a good game to try. I am going to stay away from FPS for a bit because of the reaction times and all that. She also said she was interested in playing Skyward Sword with me haha

She is a crazy perfectionist, so I might try the achievement idea. Maybe i'll get her to try WoW or something, too.

This may sound childish but its fun believe it or not. My girlfriend and I got pikmin 2 for gamecube. We are doing the coop mode and doing a personal challenge to it by not lousing a single pikmin. Even tho a game may not have achievements you can your girlfriend can make personal ones. So if you can find any game you can turn it into time together, as well as a challenge and help move her into the dark side I mean being a gamer.
Portal 2 is a good example of a game to do together and help convert her to the darkside.

well for me, i do a lot of activities outside. my wife hates being outside so i always "watch tv" with her. So one day i said i wasnt going to watch tv anymore until she started doing things i enjoy. she tried going on bike rides and hiking.. but she didnt enjoy it at all. so it was her idea to play diablo 3 with me. so i have been having her play various games to get her ready. she seems to be enjoying it more and more, altho she couldnt handle skyrim on my pc. gets motion sick
