War on Terror is quite the strange term, to be perfectly honest.
I'll be quoting wikipedia here on terrorism:
There is no universally agreed, legally binding, criminal law definition of terrorism.[1][2] Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for a religious, political or ideological goal, deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians), and are committed by non-government agencies.
Now the underlined part is for terrorist organizations. Terror is pretty much a tool free to use by anyone with power.
Terrorism has been practiced by a broad array of political organizations for furthering their objectives. It has been practiced by both right-wing and left-wing political parties, nationalistic groups, religious groups, revolutionaries, and ruling governments.[8] An abiding characteristic is the indiscriminate use of violence against noncombatants for the purpose of gaining publicity for a group, cause, or individual.[9]
Declaring "War on Terror" as a country is very much a joke. It's like you're demanding to get a free pass to infiltrate every other country's security to make sure "they're not working with terrorists". Consequences as George W. Bush Jr said after 9/11 (that was atrocious, i'm disgusted by any act of terrorism, no matter of it's origin): "If you're not with us, you're against us". Simply for "thinking" Iraq worked with Al Qaeda, how many people died there? (Saddam was a tyrant, agreed, but was he really attacked for that? He ruled for quite a few years without anyone bothering him).
Now if you're on the receiving end of this, it's scary. And if you think about it, that's really the point, right?
If ever a nuclear attack does end up happening, there will be more dire repercussions on Islam and Muslims than on al quaeda itself.
Many are just perplex how Pakistan -an Islamic nation- was actually cooperating in the fight against terrorism when somebody literally builds a mini fortress right next to one of your military bases and you let it slide...
Most international figures were quick to brush over this, saying that Pakistan was cooperating and remains a vital ally.
But hiding in plain sight for so many years lessens their credibility as a useful ally. And then if somehow your organization gets its hand on a nuclear bomb for which the said-country is known for producing, it won't take only conspiracy theorists to definitely link Islam and terrorists.
Obviously that's not the truth but we might enter an age of even greater intolerance and discrimination. I mean it's already happening but a nuclear bomb might make this attitude escalate to scary levels.
Like many have been said, you cannot fight against an ideology but if the majority links that ideology to a single religious practice, things will get ugly.
Very ugly.
Man am i sick with justifying a crime with "war on terror". But isnt that terrorism what the Us government is doing .... who the hell do they think they are , GOD ? , to go in a country that isnt theirs and wage war and kill thousands of innocent ppl and solving nothing.
When the two planes were flown into the twin towers, that can be taken as an act of war. Innocent people were killed. Innocent people were killed in the plane crash in Pennsylvania. Does that give us the right to go into other countries and get those responsible? IMO, yes.
That is more terror to me than what you people believe osama did, i mean how is it possible that both buildings collapsed in free fall speed , and then what about the building 7 that didnt even get hit and STILL fell in free fall speed.
So you think that attacks that are unexpected, the planes in the buildings, isn't more terrifying that knowing that troops are coming in to kill people? Osama sat back in hiding like a coward and when all was said and done took responsibility for it all. Our government announced what they were going to do. And didn't hide. The other building? What are you talking about?

Just adding some thoughts of mine concerning Bin Laden's death.
Al Quaeda still has a chain of command, most likely the second-in-command (whose name escapes me right now) will take charge of the group, and with the Bin Laden's death, I expect a serious backlash from them on the world (most likely America again) in the near future.
War on Terrorism isn't over yet.
His name is al-Zawahiri.
And no, the war on terror will never be completely won. And I don't wish to understate the threat of terrorism, but just like the effort to fight it, so too does terrorism require a lot of money and energy and manpower. It has setbacks just like governments do. And terrorists constantly have to operate in secret where governments can openly fight them.
I'm not sure what my point is really. I'm just trying to say that yes we should still take terrorism seriously, but it doesn't have to affect our daily lives. Terrorists are far from being all powerful and they have to work hard every day too to keep terror going at least as much as governments have to work hard to fight them.
I can make cyclonite in my kitchen. I can make an array of deadly explosives with Google and a kiddy chemistry set. A large scale attack takes a lot of planning, but a small one that would STILL cause a lot of unease and terror and still kill dozens of people requires very little hassle.

The economic "crisis" is a global thing. Each economy effects the others.
The first point you made is very, very flawed. The government of the country did not commit an act of war, a sentient organization within that country did. If a group of stupid Americans were to plan an attack on Russia, the US government would not condone the action, and would rush to mend relations with Russia, and I sincerely doubt Russia would wage war on America. The right thing to do is to make sure the government of the country seeks and works to bring down those terrorists. In no way is it a free pass for the victim country to go into that country, completely fucking ruin it, looking for a bunch of guys who wronged them, all the while pillaging the place and causing the death of thousands of innocent people. The real disaster is what's happening in Iraq, but this isn't the topic of discussion here.
I can make cyclonite in my kitchen. I can make an array of deadly explosives with Google and a kiddy chemistry set. A large scale attack takes a lot of planning, but a small one that would STILL cause a lot of unease and terror and still kill dozens of people requires very little hassle.
Yes, I know how easy it is to make explosives. But to deliver the bombs where you want them still requires people and money. And sure they can blow something up at any time, but after they do they always have to lay low for awhile. So it's not like they're as mobile and organized as we think. Sure, the WTC attack was massive and well planned. But that took like over ten years of planning. And committed recruits are much harder to come by than homemade explosives.

Dude..
Step 1: Make explosives in the kitchen
Step 2: Take the explosives in any back pack and go into any store which wouldn't sift through your shit
Step 3: Go to the bathroom, put the explosives
Step 4: Get the fuck out of there
Sigh...then why aren't they doing it? Why isn't it happening constantly?
Because again, like I said, it's harder than you think to find reliable and committed recruits willing to deliver the bombs and detonate them. And it's also hard to maintain a network of information and targets. I'm not denying it's easy for any one individual to blow something up. My point was that terrorism regardless still requires a lot of energy and manpower and money depending on how big your target is and people tend to think it's all around them and it could happen at any moment anywhere. And it COULD. But statistically your chances of living your entire life without being killed by a terrorist is still pretty good and thus you shouldn't live your life in fear of them. That's all I was trying to say.
Not to mention that nowadays getting the materials gets you all kinds of government attention. And once you go through all that it might not even work (ie underwear/shoe bomber).
Just adding some thoughts of mine concerning Bin Laden's death.

Only reason why that isn't happening is because there are only a handful of terrorists in the entire world.
I'm personally more afraid of falling space debris than terrorist attacks.
This was my point as well. I was merely saying that yes terrorism exists and is a threat to some people. But the odds of you dying in a terrorist aren't exactly that high.
I'm not even advocating that we don't take terrorism seriously. I just think that so many people are afraid that with Osama now dead that we're in greater danger than before. Terrorists such as al-Qaeda...they can't really hate us anymore than they already do. They're going to do what they have always tried to do whether we took out Osama or not.
I would like to point out the relation of the recent uprisings In the arab countries to Bin Laden's death. Basically, there is no need for the ideology of groups like Al Qaeda anymore. These last 10 years were the straw that broke the camel's back or whatever. A certain grim reality that lasted decades (mainly in the arab world), supported by the most modern and western countries (which Al Qaeda claims to stand against).
The US policy is responsible for things that we would define as "Terror" just as Al Qaeda is. Two sides of a coin to form the same thing eventually; the conflict which is actually being proccessed by the two "sides".
Not that i am justifying anything, but i do give relevance and legitimacy to everything, and the events that lead to 2011 including the announced death of Bin Laden were all ways of delivering expeirence of some sort, which causes people to learn lessons for an example, or come to certain conclusions. These thoughts are worked on by single persons and on the human conciousness collective aswel.
People are starting to understand that "things dont have to be the way they are". Its a change that is coming to the entire planet. Embrace it with love
Terror... What does this word mean? Who has the right to define any act as terror and who does not? Why do we as humanity, have been hearing this word over and over on the news for the last few decades? What is the benefit of getting people into believing that the world is a dangerous place? Who is in control of what we get to see and what we dont? Who is in control of which word to use and when? who decides what is terror and what is not? Who decides who is a terrorist and who is not?
Ask yourselves these questions and be open minded. Dont look for answers on the web or news or whatever. But sit quietly and wait for the answers to come from within. Either through a proccess of thought or through some sort of insight.
When you look for answers, dont come from a point where you think that you know this and you know that but you dont know this or that. You dont know anything, but you also know everything.
Everything that shapes your "know" is probably not that healthy for you. We shape our "know" by knowledge and experience. And we hold this "know" as the definite truth which we could also die for.
