I am a huge marvel fan. The x-men has to be my favorite comic book franchise. With the prospect of an avengers movie, I was very excited because I also love ensemble cast movies. Iron man was amazing, the hulk was a vast improvement from the previous installments. However, the last two avengers is what scares me. Thor and Captain America are a little dated in this age of comic book heroes.
Thor looks absolutely horrendous from the trailers. I was fearful even more of Captain America as the theme of this hero is a bit cheeseball outside of the 60's-70's. However, I just saw the preview and I have to admit it actually looks pretty good. I am super excited that they went with an overstylized approach to the era instead of going for something more realistic. I think that it not only gives a more artsy/comic feel but it helps them to avoid the lameness that would have come from trying to make it real. If you haven't seen the trailer yet check it out: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2207227161/

I feel the same. Captain America was supposed to be around during the time of WWII to help with the fight against Nazi's. It wasn't until I think a few years ago when they killed him off. If they plan on making an Avengers movie, why bring in CA since he is a bit dated? How would they plan on incorporating him into the story line? I noticed the reference to him in the last Iron Man movie. It was subtle, but there.
Thor on the other hand looks interesting enough to be a might see. The clip with him and the one agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was interesting. So I can see how they could get that to intertwine. Same with the Hulk since the ending was open. But Samuel L. Jackson as agent Nick Fury? Really? I guess it's better than David Hasslehoff when he did the role.

The one movie i'm really looking forward to from Marvel is the next Spider-Man. I hated the previous trilogy with that talentless dude playing Peter Parker. Also hated the way they handled the storyline...
The thing that scares me about Thor is that they didn't take it "far enough". I feel they tried to fit into modern times too much. That is why I think Cap'n looks better because they stylized it instead.

I was a huge fan of Iron Man and really loved both movies... Captain America was one of my favorites too, I think it looks pretty cool. Thor, I wasn't as much of a fan of, but i'll still go see it anyway.
I still don't feel 100% comfortable with Chris Tanner playing Captain America, but we'll see. I'm kind of skeptical about how good Thor will be too, and also Ryan Reynolds as DC's Green Lantern. I hope they're not too cheesy. However, I am looking forward to X-Men First Class. There are so many super hero movies coming out this summer, like one in May, 2 in June and 1 in July, crazy sauce!
But Samuel L. Jackson as agent Nick Fury? Really? I guess it's better than David Hasslehoff when he did the role.
I believe they're going with Ultimate Nick Fury (rather than the original WWII-era character). Ultimate NF is actually based on Samuel L. Jackson - so who better to play the role than the man the character is based on? I mean... this is a picture of the character...
Besides, SLJ is a badass. Haven't you seen Pulp Fiction?
and natalie portman makes me cringe. just watch any of the star wars and you will too.
The new Star Wars films are just terrible. Speaking as an actor, one can only do so much with a crappy script, crappy direction, and nothing to react to but a green screen and some tennis balls on sticks. I don't think it's fair to judge any of the actors from those films based on their work in those movies. I mean, we all know that Liam Neeson is an awesome actor, but let's face it: Qui'Gon Jin (sp?) SUCKS! Natalie Portman is a pretty good actress, IMO, but her performance in SW does suck - same as Hayden Christiansen (older Anikan). Blame Lucas.
Anyways, I'm excited for Captain America and Thor. I mean, how wrong can you go with Natalie Portman, Samuel L Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, etc? I'm not saying that it will be good, but I think it'll at least be worth seeing.

@ Sixen, Iron Man was one of my all time favorites growing up too. But then again, Grendel beats all. Nothing like Dark Horse Comics.

They missed the perfect release day for a Captain America movie.
I will see Captain America and Thor. I feel like they will be entertaining, but nothing spectacular.
How badass is that?
