As some of you may or may not know, I am currently writing a 10 page Argumentative Thesis on Why Ancient Egypt would own Ancient Rome, if they both were in their prime, and not dropping their empirical status.
I need help finding sources for Ancient Egyptian Warfare, including weapons, commanders, battles won and lost, strategies and tactics, etc...
The same thing for Ancient Roman Warfare.
I just need some help on getting sources. I can get all necessary information from sources and writing it and citations and all that other bullshit that's required for a term paper. I would really appreciate your help.

Lol, well it would be fantastic if we were talking about ancient Greece .
Anywho, I also agree with what Linkx was trying to say, I think Rome would've curb stomped Egypt.
If you read the first result in the link I threw at you, it is said that Egypt was one of the most peaceful civilizations on Earth, and they didn't have a proper military until their 15th dynasty. Given that they only lasted 31 dynasty's, it could easily be assumed that the Egyptian military wasn't tip top.
Of course, all this info came from google sources without any kind of prior knowledge or verification, so feel free to toss it aside.
I'll argue that both of you are wrong and Egypt in it's prime was the most powerful empire than any other in their prime. In that region of course as Far Eastern may be better with their gunpowder, their smart Asians, and their Yakuza gangs. Though the Spartan warrior is the absolute best at what he does and not even the Samurai could best him. I would like to have done Greece versus Rome, but they both have fought plenty of times before and Rome kicked its ass.
Also, prove me wrong by helping me find good sources for Roman Warfare.

Rome conquered Egypt in 30 BC. Obviously Egypt probably wasn't at its peak during that, but still. Egypt simply wasn't at war as much as Rome was. Rome needed to make military breakthroughs (ie the gladius and their advanced formations) in order to survive during its almost constant military campaigns. Plus, when Egypt was at its territorial peak it was 15th Century BCE, whereas Rome was at its territorial peak during about 100 CE. So thats an extra 1500 years or so of technological advancements to give Rome the edge over Egypt.
Also, the Roman Empire was simply bigger than Egypt's. Both Egypt and Rome probably adopted (or stole) tactics and technologies that they encountered during their conquests, but Rome simply had more area and therefore a wider range of tactics that it had to deal with and possibly adopt. Not to mention the extra manpower that gives Rome.
Did you know that Rome stole everything from other civilizations, the damn thieves.
Not everything. Depends whether you count Etruscans, but since Rome was found by Etruscans, I would just call Rome a continuation of Etruscan civilization.
Romans invented (to name some I can think of):
Legal system (most Western civilizations are based on Roman legal system)
Central heating
Concrete
Water pipes & drain systems
Baths & showers
Roads
Calendar
Scissors
Magnifying glasses
The postal system
Bikinis
Horse shoes
Double paned glass (aka thermal windows)
Large bridges
Etc.
Rome mainly "stole" Greek gods and Roman philosophy was largely built on Greek philosophy.

Curb stomping Egypt doesn't exactly mean that you're great. Romans just ripped off other civilizations, and were absolute and utter shit. They were around a long fucking time, and all they managed to come up with was scissors ad all the other lame things Don mentioned that would have been inevitably put forth by any subsequent civilization. They were only really good at attacking inferior places and adding them to their cool collection of land. If you want to talk about a civilization that produced amazing things, try the Arabs, the Phoenicians, those guys.
Greece was superior when it came ti guys fucking other guys. No really now, they also had poets and great thinkers. Great pieces of work came out of Greece, and they formed the basis to a lot of really important things nowadays (hello government structure). Greece was pretty much the very foundation of Western civilization. Think of it this way. No Greece, no Roman Empire or the modern Western Civilization. Greece is to civilization what Einstein is to Physics..one of its most important basis, and one of its toughest pillars, so to speak.

Arguably that can be said of any civilization. Given enough time, someone will eventually come up with everything. Someone would probably have come up with democracy if Greece hadn't, and someone would have come up with concrete if Rome hadn't.
And how can you say that concrete/water pipes/the postal system/legal system(!) are lame?

The ancient Mayans, which were a highly advanced culture in Astrological terms of knowledge in how things work time wise and in doing so, developed the calendar. Not Rome.

Both civilizations invented the calendar independently of each other. And if I am not mistaken (I may be, because I am just going off memory here) the Mayan was a Lunar calendar, while the Roman was a Solar calender.
this is a bad topic for a thesis since you have no actual data, unless you find records of fights between the two civilizations. everything is speculative and there are just too many variables.
if you want to search the technologies of both empires you could always try lexus nexus.

Don G is right - Rome had far superior tech and tactics. Additionally, they had a high-morale fighting force that consisted of soldiers, at least in part, with a citizen's mindset. Egyptians were basically all slaves to the Pharoah.

So are you just asking for internet sources then? Cause I doubt you're asking any of us to be actual sources for your paper as we wouldn't appear as a very good citation in your bibliography. Are you in high school or college? If you're in college, why haven't you used your library's online database to search for articles pertaining to the subject? When I use EBSCO host for finding articles, I find shitloads of periodicals on any given subject. If you are in high school, then I'm just sorry for you as most high schools have shitty resources for doing research.
EBSCO host sucks in finding stuff in the topic, and no not anybody on here as a source, just asking for help in getting sources is all.
Gheed, America's military is pretty good yet we got our asses handed to us by the Vietcong in the Vietnam war, and the British got their asses handed to them by the colonist's of America in the Revolution. Did I mention that Technology only plays a small part in war and the soldiers in the Egyptian Army were not slaves. It was conscripted civilians led by the noblemen, and due to Egypt being rich, they could also enlist the help of several mercenaries if needed.
I'm still waiting on those sources.

Rome had Trebuchets while all Ancient Egypt had was chariots, archers and infantry...?
Both of the empires at their peak? Rome wins 100%.
But if we talk about technology its a different story. Today, some scientists believe that the Pyramids themselves worked as big electricity genarators. It is believed that Ancient Egypt had lights in the night. Their medicine knowledge was highly advanced (the most solid proof for that is the mummies' preserverance). The Egyptians knew that the world is round and they also had trade routes that reached America before anyone else knew that land existed. Plus, ancient Egypt exitsed for over 10 thousand years.
By the way, @Dong_G: Didnt Hamorabi of Babylon invented the first legal system and laws?

I don't know anything about that, but I believe Don refered to the basis for the legal system widely used in the world today.
Well, i read a book by Christopher Dunn called "The Giza Powerplant". And yes i know, alot of people bashed him and his book with numerous theories that contradict his thoughts. But i also watched several documentaries and one of them was released like 2 months ago, i will try and check how it was called exactly.
The Ancient Egyptians used Cocaine as one of the components in the Mummies' preserverance proccess. This fact encourages the idea that the Egyptians had a trade route connected with the American conitenent somehow. It is believed that they either sailed from western Africa to what we call Brazil today. And some say that they might have sent out hundreds of people that walked east and reached America through Russia and Japan.
Last year, an ancient Egyptian temple was discovered and is believed to be from 14 thousand years ago. These are new facts and studies that have not reached the average encyclopedia.
Another interesting but off topic fact is that the Sphynx is believed to be carved from another big statue of a lion of some sort which origins to 10 thousand years ago.
Yes all of this sounds like conspiracy theory crap but hey, u can say its wrong just like i can say everything you know is wrong. There is no objectivity in history and given facts are always proved wrong. We dont know everything about the last 20 thousand years on earth.
Edit: Oh and i dont think its a coincidence that the Ancient Egyptians looked so much like native Americans. They have the same face structure and skin tone. Most of these weird things come from a collection of articles written by conspiracy theorists that talk about Atlantis and ancient nuclear weapons and wars int he sky in ancient india. Basically, there was a huge earthquake that destroyed many ancient civlizations and technologies that we dont know of today.

Oh come on, what conspiracy books have you read?
No. Well, if you count people who've simply lived in the same region then sure, but that's not really how you determine the lifespan of an empire.
