Actually there's an animated Cowboy Bebop movie and that's the one I was mentioning. However, I'm actually a little anxious to see what the live action movie can bring to the table. If anyone had to play Spike's character, Keanue Reaves looks like he could pull it off (maybe).
This is a show I've always been meaning to watch. It seemed similar in style to Samurai Champloo which has always been one of my favorites. Is there somewhere I should start? Or is it pretty easy to figure out which episodes to watch in what order? Cause you know, like some Japmations (I just made up that word) are kind of confusing cause they may have spinoffs or remakes or what not.
There's 26 episodes. You can watch them in any order and you won't be lost because they're largely independent of each other, but you should of course start with #1.
Each character has, sort of, an ongoing plot, but they're mixed between the episodes. For instance, Faye, a gambling woman with a mysterious past, has two or three episodes dedicated to her identity crisis, but those episodes are scattered throughout the series. However, most episodes are centered around the team trying to capture a bounty head.

dies.
Yeah, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, it was pretty amazing actually. I don't think Reeves could pull it off, he's a terrible actor recently. Do you honestly want him to Neo-stare down whoever the antagonist would be? Seriously?

Amazing show, top 5 of my faves, highly recommend it. Only 26 episodes, and I think the same people did Champloo actually.

Okay so I'm about 3/4 of the way through the series and thought I'd write my impressions of it so far. Overall I've really liked it. It's not as emotionally engaging as Samurai Champloo, but many of the episodes' plot devices are really cool; there are lots of interesting sci-fi concepts in them. I especially like the background story about the hyperspace gate explosion that blew up the moon and left all it's debris orbiting Earth, turning the planet into a sort of backwater.
I like Jet most of all. Spike isn't bad. Faye and that kid are annoying as hell though and couldn't be more typical as anime characters. But it is nice that the show doesn't take itself too seriously, and I suspect the last few episodes will probably get more serious as Vicious and Spike are likely to have one last face off.
So I'll write one more review after I've finished the series.
So I'm done watching Cowboy Bebop. Overall it was fun, though still not nearly as engaging as Samurai Champloo. I only compare the two myself though because I've often heard so many others do so. I actually think the styles of the two seem too different to compare directly with each other despite whether some of the same people both had something to do with both or not.
But anyway, the ending was kind of good in that at least it wasn't too predictable. I mean, at least the crew didn't all reunite at the end and fly off into space together. This I could appreciate quite a lot actually. But the characters themselves were still predictable typical anime characters if that makes any sense. I hated the chick Faye who walked around all the time looking like a hooker. How did she get away with doing so anyway? I mean, what the hell is wrong with Spike anyway if this half naked chick is always bouncing her tits in his face and he's not gonna do anything about it? Seriously, why is he not banging this amoral bitch? Oh what, cause he's a lone space cowboy who's depressed? Please.
And that annoying little girl, I already forgot her name. Where the fuck did she go in the end? She just walked off in the end with the dog to possibly go find her dad...I think. The same guy who didn't really give a shit about her anyway and was like, "Hey kid, long time no see. So anyway, wanna help me catalogue shit that falls from the sky?"
It kind of bugged me that after a good episode about halfway through the series featuring Vicious, the rest of the episodes after that were just pointless isolated stories just until the last two part episode that would obviously be about the final confrontation between Spike and Vicious.
It was even annoying when Spike's blond girlfriend from the past dies and he's like, "Alright then, I'll see ya." Like, is this guy really that boring a character? He gets super emotional and annoyed if someone is standing in his way in a crowded hallway, but like the life of his life dies and it's just like, "Okay yeah, so I'll go avenge you now I guess."
I don't know. Overall I liked the show but I might have been going in with higher expectations that I should've had. And maybe that was just because I've read so many people saying this show was on par if not better than Samurai Champloo which I know now is just crazy.
Lol, way back when I was in middle school, since I started watching cowboy bebop when I was in 7th grade (I'm a sophomore in college now), I would listen to the song "blue" before school started from being on summer vacation and it always calmed me down.
I think reeves could do it..it'd be a adjustment to get used to his higher pitched voice.

That no-talent hack.
Edit: saw you mentioned it in the OP, just posting my opinion. I'd go watch it anyways, but I don't see anything good coming from it.
And also, Spike
