Okay guys, I have a question for all of you that isn't even opinion based. I already know the answer I just want to see what other people say (because I have an ongoing discussion with someone about this).
What FPS (frames per second) can the Human eye see? What I mean, is where is the maximum cutoff for what matters? In my mind any PC gamer should know this, but I'm curious.
lol a little broader than i was asking but very nice information. What about video games? I know that 30 FPS is NOT the best the eye can see in a video game, but i know many people that think otherwise. It is rather around 60 and sometimes a bit above. Does a constant 30 look rather smooth yes, but can you tell a difference (pretty noticeable) between 30 and 60...very much so.
This is not a an easy question to answer.
Your eyes will acumulate light, even if it projects at a 1 000 000th of a second.
That is your eyes. Your brain does not recognise these "insignificant" signals.
It probably owns the potential to do that - your brain is a very powerful processing
unit - but in the real arena of living, the average human (your brain) processes
more or less 22 frames per second.
What makes it difficult to answer, especially in what i believe is your context, is that during a game of Far Cry a flash from a bomb that last a 100th of a second is something that you WILL notice, true, but at a rate of 25 fps your game will appear smooth.
So the next time someone is bugging you because your ATI Radeon HD 2600XT's 45 fps in doesnt match their Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS' 62 fps, you can tell them to go piss in the ocean and see if it makes a difference.

Norrec found the plate of Bartuc. Bartuc's plate found a nice host...

After all the games I've played I never really cared about any of this.
I usually don't go in such details.
I've read about fps movies used though...that's about it. Since it has already been well explained, no point for me to say all of it again.
Thanks to you guys, I know some more now.
I don't know how it will be useful to me however...
I guess if you just see a blur when you are fapping, it would mean you are hitting the 18-24 fps...or maybe your eyes are half closed.

too me one of the best examples of seeing a difference from 30 FPS to 60 FPS is playing Dantes Inferno and then comparing it to most other action games. That game feels SO smooth and you can really tell its 60 fps.
Interesting, I generally never get frames above 30 and 15-18 fps is perfectly playable. So therefore fps never really affects your gameplay all that much as long as your computer can run the game.
Also nice reply Don.

"A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B."
Well I'll take your word for it (above post), but I highly doubt you get around 18 frames and think its fine. That is very poor and really really shows in a game.

15 FPS in a game and you think it runs great? Are you crazy, if I run a game and it drops below 28 FPS I instantly delete it because I can't play a choppy game, lol.
I always thought 30 was the max a human eye could see but my father got a Vizio TV and all of the motion in the pictures looked extremely awkward and very very smooth but subtlety faster than normal. I think my brother said it was because it played at a higher FPS.
