All of it is fifth grader knowledge.. the thing is there are things that aren't taught that goes hand in hand with what is. Like, you're taught about the presidents just not as in depth as that - I think it's understood that they should further study what they are learning - which we all know nobody does.
Oh come on. Nobody expects anyone to study their nation's history outside of school while 11 years old. That means what you're taught in school would be the measurement to grade what fifth grade knowledge actually is.
Some kids will know more for various reasons, but it won't reflect the general populace.

The planet question: What is the only planet in our solar system with one vowel in it's name? I'm pretty sure that's not taught. It's more of a common sense question.
Well all it really requires is that you know there is a planet called Mars. Which I'm fairly sure would be something to come across during education.

And the citizenship test. (I think there's a question about which was the 24th president of the USA or something)
I think the cheerleader answered that way because she's used to answering things quickly without thinking... it's like a form of thought that serves a different purpose, but she could have answered correctly and I'm sure the information was in her head.

That was the one thing I could think of where that kind of knowledge would be studied, But you don't try for that when you're 11 do you?

I don't even know the name of 5 of our old politicians I don't even know the name of our previous king or queen I count those things as 100% unnecessary information.
Oh come on. Birger Jarl, Axel Oxenstierna, Olof Palme, Thorbj?rn F?lldin and Alf Svensson. That's five for ya, all from different periods of time as well
And the previous king was Gustav VI Adolf. And I knew all of those by heart.
Hmm... there should be a show like this in Sweden. I'd totally kick ass

Although I've never watched it, I think for the most part that show just proves that a lot of things you learn in 5th grade are useless. If you can't remember it in the long run, it wasn't that important.
Just because you can't remember something doesn't mean it's not important.
Somethings are just easier to remember and certain subjects are drilled into your brain harder than others... math and english mainly.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I don't know any of the other 4, but I have heard about Alf
What? Birger Jarl practically founded Stockholm it in the 13th century, Axel Oxenstierna was the regent while Queen Kristina was still too young to rule on her own, and Thorbjorn Falldin was our Prime Minister in the late 70's for Centerpartiet. Shame on you
Now those first two are things a 5th grader "should" know, at least if he remembers all he learned in school. But there are probably a thousand other things they know that I don't. Like what a state symbol is or similar. Does that make me dumber than a 5th grader?

I have never been taught any of that in school. I'm 100% sure.
Yes you have. Don't deny it. When you were sleeping during history in Elementary and your teacher went through our history, he started with Birger Jarl and some other crap, went on to Gustav Vasa, Erik XIV, Johan III, Karl IX etc...

Honestly, I would do a heck of a lot better if it was visual based questions. Like determining which shape a certain state is. Or what flag goes with which state (or country for that matter) Finding certain countries or states on a map, etc. I would rock that show if those were the kinds of questions they asked.
Actually, ever since pi was proven irrational, there was no more need to dispute about if it can be converted into a fraction. Since the definition of being irrational is that it can't, then the only possible way to do it is to have a fraction with a irrational numerator or denominator or both.
But before this time, sure, there would've been much controversy

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
π/1=π
or is that cheating?
It would piss me off to have the 5th grader say "sure, I can do it" and then they split a pie into 2 pieces...
ok i didnt think my last post was SO retarted that it just turned everyone off posting in here again... but I get the point lol

5th graders are the best!
Flame away
But before this time, sure, there would've been much controversy
There are people out there who are too ignorant to accept the fact.
Yahoo answers.. there are more than a dozen questions about it and everyone trying to fight it than accept it.
