Ok so before I start take note, I am not like most people who play Blizzard games or games for that matter. I am what you might consider a dick, and that's cool, helps keep balance between rainbows and blood.
Diablo 3:
I was a little dissapointed with the demo. Of course I was overjoyed that I got to finally play the next installment of the series I have been playing since it first came out, but the demo featured...no hard or giant boss...no pvp yet they do have it implemented (Ill talk more on that later)
Classes as I saw them:
Barbarian - Overpowered like hell. I could walk through the whole demo with just cleave and stun and destroy everything without even trying. I got a few rare polearms and got my damage above 100 and literally 1 hit killed the whole demo. I finished the demo in like 10 mins and sat there wondering what to do, then I found a secret rainbow Blizzard hid in the corner of the desert.
Witch Doctor - He was mutual. Slow at attacking with the skills we were given, so probably not that great in a pvp aspect which is a downer. The scare skill seems useless just like it was in Diablo 2 cause why would you want to scare the monsters away, unless of course you are bad and need to be saved. His pets are what set him aside from the wizard.
Wizard - What a hunk of crap. Dies instantly, does NO damage. A 1-2 dmg staff shot or a very slow exploding ball is what they gave us. Only way to solo the demo with Wizard was to let out your clone and hide back and spam the slow ball of death till 10 mins later things die.
Monk - My favorite. The monk is new so I can't really say anything on him. He has a teleport skill which rocks, he does combos which rule and they take no mana ATM. He is kinda like an assassin / paladin.
PVP:
Before I even sat down to play I asked the rep there if I could join this co-op game and kill my teammates wether it be through PK or PvP. He said "yes....wait no, they haven't activated it in this demo" I then said...wait so they have it at the HQ? He said "Well it's obvious it will have PvP and any game to come out without would be suicidal." Which is a given obviously it will have PvP but...to have it already and not say anything about it..cmon Blizzard...give us anything, atleast let us know you are thinking of your PvP fans here. Another cool thing I found..for anyone at Blizzcon when playing D3..hit N. It will activate a tool that will show ENEMY PLAYERS LIFE BARS ABOVE THEIR HEADS. PVP is in the demo but you can't do it.
Overall d3 was fantastic and I am glad that it isn't a let down and it plays and feels like Diablo (Love the inventory). Just wish there was a siegebreaker or an undead Butcher or something to give it that extra push besides 4 player co-op which isn't that exciting. I mean it is for a few runs but, throw that PvP or that boss battle in...and you are gold.
I know this is in Diablo thread, but I am going to talk about SC2. (Cause im a dick)
SC2:
Love the game, almost as much as D3. Then again SC2 is practically done. I played 3 matches and went 3-0, I didn't experiment really I went with what I knew would work (Marines, tanks). First 2 matches I played were fun and challenging and I played with some cool people. The third match tho and this is why I am making this apart of this is somewhat different.
See anyone that knows about Starcraft knows Protoss have cannons. At times some players like to "Cannon Rush". I decided let's have fun and cannon rush this guy. Needless to say...he wasn't happy. I put 1 pylon in front of his zerg base, and 1 on the side. He jumps on the 1 in front leading me to build cannons on the side and take him out. Now he sends his drones at my cannons to try and stop me...haha. Before I can even kill him, he types in some gibberish and quits the game. He shoves back his chair in a fit of rage and super speedy walks away from the game station, but before he goes back into the line from the opposite direction he peeks back at me who is now laughing at him. He gave me I swear the greatest Stink / Rage eye I could ever imagine. I just wanted to say thank you nerdy kid with a backpack who walks super fast, you have made my Blizzcon. Thank you for letting me cannon rush you and making my day!
PS: Ill be going tomorrow again as well, probably wearing a "Hey your gay" Fonzi shirt, or the new Butcher shirt. I will definitly be Cannon rushing people again tomorrow and see what other shit I can stir up, and maybe even luring monsters into your d3 groups to get you killed....but hey it's fun for me so it's fun for all!
PSS: Notice how the CEO doesn't even acknowledge the Diablo fans? "Where are the Terran, Zerg, Protoss fans? Where are the Horde and Alliance fans? Ok lets continue on." No Diablo fans? Great CEO...way to FORGET about 1 of your franchises. They showed a few clips of D3 from looking back at 08, but he still never talked about Diablo haha. I was amazed.
thats about right... any spell caster is at a disadvantage in the early stages of diablo.. but that quickly changes as mana become less of a problem and spells quickly get much more powerful
I saw that they changed the look of it while I was passing by to the Blizzcon store. I honestly have no idea what they did at the panels today cause I could catch all that junk online. I wasn't at Blizzcon to catch junk I could see online for free, I was there to play me some damn D3 and SC2.
So I am not sure exactly what the plans are with D3 and any features they talked about for upcoming stuff.
Well that is your opinion and everyone has the perogative to do as they please, so dont criticize others thinking your way is right.
Thanks.
What the fuck are you talking about where the hell did I say my way is right or my way of thinking is right?
Seriously
I was just saying I wouldn't play as those 2 classes unless co-op was involved. Seriously remove the stick up your ass nothing I said in my post was shoving my opinion down anyones throat.
One thing tho. Someone should have went with a cam and had it zoomed to catch all the items that dropped.
Also, what happened to this "special" item that was supposed to be shown at Blizzcon for Diablo III?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
You guys are just forgetting you're talking about and playing a DEMO of a game wich is the middle of the development process.
Complain about stuff like balance is 100% pointless. The balance process are done only when ALL classes, skills, monsters and items are completly done. They are in the creating process, they don't really give a fuck if some skills is overpowered at the moment.
I disagree that D3 environments is less detailed than D2, the desert in the demo has an amazing artistic touch thus it looked liked a real sandy desert, the color palatte reminds me of prince of persia SOT game and yes it looks awesome in my eyes.. D2's desert was practically bland, dry and really boring to look at, for me the only interesting design in act 2 was the buildings in the town because it just felt right..
Well it's just a demo so it's not right to say at this point the game is really easy, there is no danger here and there, no champions etc. because this might an earlier version of the game or it's for demo purposes only..The game you are looking now might drastically change later in due course..
In the Diablo 3 Demo there were forms of champions. There were different colored monsters called fanatic and stuff like that, that were drastically harder to kill.
And I think everyone is aware this is a demo, but why release a demo of a game you are trying to sell and make your guy so over powered it gets boring to play? This may be a demo buddy, but it is still a build of the game they currently have or currently had which meant this is what Diablo 3 IS/WAS ok?
And Tjuba, were you the nerdy backpack speed walker? I didn't pay $125 for a ticket to sit there and experiment for 20 hours on SC2 or D3. I paid $125 for a ticket to have fun. I have 20 hours to play these games, there is plenty of time to experiment. - BTW, playing Diablo and not PvPing means you arn't playing the game. Sure objective: Kill Diablo...yay. Great thing to do for awhile, next MF gear...yay that's fun but yet again gets boring...hmm what has ALWAYS been in Diablo, what honestly makes Diablo well Diablo? PvP. From Diablo 1's brutal PK, to Diablo 2's more newb friendly yet hard to master formulas. PvP is plain and simply what people do on Diablo, I don't know anyone who has played Diablo series for over 10 years and not gotten tired of killing Diablo and is only around for PvP.
There is gore, and alot of it. There are bodies just exploding everywhere pretty much. I didn't really notice body parts flying around, they kinda blow up into chunks. Ill have to look today and see how long the blood stayed tho.
Special item is a blizzcon poster. Supposively it should only drop once in 20 minutes of gameplay throughout all of the computers. If you find it and are within the first 50 people of that day you win a nice graphics card and I think something else, main highlight is the card. Funny thing about it is tho the lady sitting next to me one time, found 2. Yep...2. Of course when you are seated they tell you not to take photos and video, yet when this happened...everyone including the people sitting you down were like hey lets take a picture. I am sure that will surface sooner or later.
Back at D3 and taking a little more in depth look at it.
Apparently we were playing on some form of BNet cause you could whisper players and it stated Battle.net when you tried to do commands.
Blood stayed on the floor for an estimated minute.
Lots of gore in the backgrounds. I mean at one part there was just dozens and dozens of dead and mutilated bodies and blood everywhere just warning you of what you were going to get into.
Witch Doctor thus far doesn't look good for PvP unless his pets are going to be super strong. He has pet skills, slow fire skills, and curses pretty much. So unless he gets a make over or this rune system helps that much he doesn't look to be that great.
Wizard has Ice / Light in 1 tree and teleport so far has a delay on it. Once it's used you have a 9 second cool down for level one. Energy shield takes 2 mana per 1 point of damage you take.
Life and manas of each char as I remember were:
Barb - 270 life, 0 fury
Witch Doctor - 240 life (Don't know why), 80 mana
Monk - 150 life, 60 mana
Wizard - 110 life, 90 mana

If I was at Blizzcon and was playing the demo I wouldn't even touch the Wizard or WD unless I was in Co-op.
Sounds like you had a good time at SC2. That's good since you'll probably be playing it while you wait for D3.. like me
Mana regenerated abnormally fast, it took awhile to deplete and it regenerated fully in less then a minute id say.
In the demo you level once, but with the barbarian I was able to snag 2 levels. Still not enough for WW tho.
That's one of the things I'd want to test out if I was there
