I'm looking to customize a computer off one of those websites like Cyberpowerpc or something. Anyone have a suggestion as to which website offers the best quality, selection, or service, or overall good consumer experience?
For the love of god, do not listen to these people.
Cyberpower and ibuypower are ok... but the quality for the money is still low IMO..
If you want a good/great comp without wasting money... build it yourself.
Give me a price range, I can peice something together, help you know what to order... and really putting it together is rediculously easy.. infact I put together my last one without ever having done more than upgrade Ram back in the day.
Honestly, my computer right now has an i7 920 running at 4.45ghz, 6gb CAS 7 ram, GTX285, 1000hx PSU, etc.. all watercooled with quality parts... price something like that out on alienware (way overpriced) or ibuypower (but add 250+ dollars for the watercooling, the kits included with their stuff are complete crap) oh and the problem that many times you cant get the right brands with that service.... I spent ~1800 on mine, would have been less but I ordered enough stuff to do 2 watercooling loops for the future...
Way more satisfying that simply buying one - and more quality stuff....
what is your budget.. these days a decent overclocking i7 build can be done for ~1100 or so... a nice AMD rig runs ~800...
Please PM me if you want a quality computer for your money, I can help you out...
and for good measure my last build is on ebay... if you want... going for ~600USD + shipping, PM me if you are interested... sweet rig for the money...
and for better measure.. the new one which ibuypower can only dream about:
If you're Canadian and live in the Vancouver area, which you don't, you could check out NCIX. I don't know if they deliver to US residents, but you can check it out on their website.
Alienware is good, but ridiculously overpriced.
you're basically paying for the alienware label.
Listen to myowngod, it's MUCH cheaper to build it yourself, and you don't need much experience.
Even if you're completely lost, you can simply take your questions to google, no doubt there will be tutorials on computer building.

If you don't feel up to building your own, I'd check out a company called Velocity Micro. My brother got one about 3 months ago and it's very slick looking. Not gawdy like Alienware. Awesome performance, great customer service so far.
i'd say cyberpowerpc.com or ibuypower.com if you want them to make it but you choose from limited parts, or neweeg.com or tigerdirect.com if you want to buy anything you want and build it yourself

If you want a decent cheap comp, you might want to try Newegg.

I've done some basic removal/installation of Graphics Cards, Sounds Cards and Power Supplies but thats really all I know. I'll give it a shot tho.
Good luck man, hope it goes well.
Great prices, no issues with return policy... And I am not sure what customer service you need with a computer really?
Alienware is there to rip your money off you if you have no clue what you're doing.
