Well I did get the land area from wikipedia, so you never know...
But yeah, the conversion is definitely wrong.
Never really took the time to actually look at those numbers.
Ullion is right about the 3 main areas to worry about, those are basically the 3 more heavily populated areas in Canada.
Aside from them, you have provincial capitals, and the occasional large-ish town.
However, due to how much they're spread out, once you left te actual area of the city you would most likely be safe from anyone not in a car, or who does not have some form of transportation other than running.

Exactly, and if we can assume that the zombies are slow moving, there really is no worry for where some of us live (if these people do decide to retreat to the more northern/less populated areas). I bet if we all retreated northwards and had a large mass of zombies, then we could fly over head with a helicopter and see them down there in those large hoards, and drop bombs on them? I mean... if us Canucks had any.
Oh and Zhar, I didn't mean to come across as mean, my deepest apologies if I had done so! I was just confused at those conversions o.O"

Remember the String of Ears
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
About the scythe, a bit of sharpening would turn it into a very effective head-chopper.
Possibly a replacement blade, either way the design of the scythe was to chop things up in a wide arc, which basically turns 180 degress in front of you into a kill zone. Assuming you can swing it with enough force to carry onto other zombies.
But once again, either a very effective blade sharpening, or a blade replacement would suffice.
I'm having a really hard time picturing the scythe as an effective weapon. The only way I could picture it was if you had the outer end sharpened and thrust it at a zombie's face. But that reaping action, the end point of the scythe is going to make it difficult to score a clean slice on a zombie's neck. When you are chopping something, the part that makes contact with the thing to be chopped is supposed to be wide. So an ax or a shaolin spade would be perfect for that. But a scythe, a thing meant to cut wheat, come on dude, it would be lousy. You'd have to get the sharp side of the blade behind the zombie's neck, and even then you wouldn't have the amount of thrust needed to pull on it and take off the head.
But I doubt it's got enough weight to cut through the spinal column with even the strongest swing. I'm not positive though how heavy they actually make these.
That first one is hardly a scythe because the blade is not curved enough. The second seems to be a kind of poleaxe which actually could be quite useful.

Eh, never thought about the blade position.
Well, as turmoil demonstrated, a repositioned blade would make it MUCH more effective.
Putting it along the shaft, instead of at a 90 degree angle on the shaft, would actually make it able to decapitate.
The actual shape of the scythe handle makes it incredibly easy to work up momentum (trust me, I've used one before), so as long as the blade was positioned in such a way as to allow the swing of the arc to decapitate, and not swing then pull forward, you would be set.
Basically you'd be turning it into a halberd, except with the shape of the scythe shaft, and the 2 handles.
edit:
Fuck scythes, just found a much more effective weapon.
In case nobody knows what that it, it's a Naginata. Old samurai weapon. It's light, has great length, and can be swung quite quickly without tiring the user.

That's all well & good, but really - how practical is that weapon? How often are you going to find a Naginata lying around?
Well yeah no kidding, just saying it would make an ideal weapon to use.
Well, not completely ideal I guess, but you could still murder most zombies with that thing.
Should have posted that like I did with the Bear Suit post... warned people beforehand to keep in mind that you could never find one.
Looking forwards to your weapons write up though, you usually post some pretty in depth shit.
Make sure to post for ranged and melee though, don't wanna just read about guns, because sooner or later zombies will get their hands on you, and you'll need a weapon to deal with them effectively when they get their hands on you.

I would still use Dual Daggers. I would hunt and kill all zombies or die trying. If bitten, or wounded with great possibility of becoming that which I seek to destroy, I will go into a swift river and plunge one dagger into my skull, the other into my heart.

Too close of combat. Daggers put you in range for a scratch that could lead to your demise.

Yeah, dual daggers are WAY too close to effectively kill them.
Too small to kill many of them, as well.
I can actually speak from experience on this, I did some odd things during my younger years.
Now, this is gonna sound odd, but when I was young me and a couple of my friends would go back into their forest, get sticks, and just beat the shit out of eachother, we were like 6 or so at the time.
Oh, childhood, how I miss you.
My friend Grant would always find 2 smallish sticks that he used like dual daggers, I would always find the biggest fucking stick available, and would proceed to pound the crap out of him.
Then of course we had a couple of guys who would get just run-of-the-mill sticks and use them much like swords, which were definitely the most versatile of the bunch.
Grant had much more speed over the rest of us, and could use those 2 sticks to parry and stab at the same time. He could easily make it past any attempts to parry, and didnt have much extra weight to carry around (sticks can be quite heavy when you're 6).
The stick that I used was much like a halberd, I could keep others at a distance, easily hit them when they came close, either by reserving the shaft and hitting them with the other end of it, or by slamming it width-ways into them. This allowed me to hit them from afar, and knock them back when they got close.
Most of the other guys, 4 to be exact, used plain sticks like swords. As stated before, these were the most versatile, and could be used to parry and slash/stab effectively, while also being able to attack fairly quickly. They blended range with speed, and ended up falling between the daggers and the halberd.
So anywho, theres my trip down memory lane.
And yes, I am fully aware that I was a child at the time, and that we were using sticks instead of properly weighted, metal melee weapons. So please, don't flip. Yay disclaimer...
Didn't know I'd go on such a big rant from such a small question about daggers.... meh.

My Battle Plan- I live near a lake, plentiful with various islands. The basic outline of my plan would be to gather weapons, food, and general supplies, as well as my friends and navigate my boat to an island. To my knowledge zombies cant swim?! (Lets just pretend they cant for my story haha) Off this island I could fish for food, woot woot.
Since most people are likely to be infected, I intend to be opportunistic and take boats, and any needed equipment surrounding the lake.
What I'm Strappin' -
Desert Eagle - Though requiring accuracy and a headshot.. this baby has decapitating abilities. The bullet is large enough to break through the zombies skull and really ream its brain. Overkill? yes.. but fun.
Sniper Rifle - A sniper rifle could provide me with the ability to scope out nearby locations, and shoot zombies from afar. I'm planning on using a sniper rifle that blows heads off.
Shotgun - I'm no gun expert, but life has always told me that Shotguns are the way to go in close-quarters situations. This would be my primary weapon when searching homes for supplies..ect.
My Ride-
My Sea Ray 14 foot boat. This ride offers a top speed of 45 miles per hour on the water, but hey its 18 years old.. dont judge It would be enough to get me from island to island in the mean time for me to find a new and better boat if needed. Primary transportation.
My second transport would be a Honda Trail Motor Bike, which offers some speed on land.
I would bring pretty much all of the friends I can get. Foods not really a problem since there are lots of fish in the lake i live by. Not to mention many of the small islands have homes that we could use.
Is this flawed? Probably.. but you know what? Its damn fun lol.
I'm not sure why I didn't think of this one before.
I live in FLORIDA. AKA Swamp town!
All I would have to do is go down a big river like the St. Johns and set up camp in one of the swampy Forrest regions.
I think it's a good idea because I know zombies wouldn't be able to get to it unless they could steer a boat and I would be fairly close to supplies.
It would be dangerous getting supplies, that is where the risk would be. But once I am back at my swamp fortress I would be safe.
I think its a much better idea than trying to fair the seas.
