hey guys. im looking to buy a guitar, but i having trouble deciding what to get :O. (keep in mind im 15) i currently play my moms fender stratocaster (made in usa. very nice guitar, she bought it used from a friend) but shes wants me to get my own.
whenever i buy a musical instrument (or anything really), i always try and buy the best available that will last me a long time. the guitar im looking for is something very versatile, and that means is able to play anything from "The Beatles" to "Metallica". at GC i was poking around and found a few guitars i enjoyed very much -
epiphone Dot
gibson flying V
fender stratocaster (hehe)
there were others, but cant remember...
im not ABSOLUTELY going to get one of these, but you have an idea of what i like. im open to anything. price is not that much of an problem, i have the whole summer to scrounge up some cash, but preferably under 1k. bands i like (and play their music) the beatles, led zeppelin, guns n roses, velvet revolver, metallica.
flying v's are cool and all, but you can only play them standing up...
my friend has a Jackson V which looks badass and plays the same way, but its a stage guitar not that good for learning with.
IMO i would go strat all the way, you see plenty of metal, blues, alternative any genre really using strats.
which is awesome, but i'd trade it any day for an american strat.
les pauls are great as well, but heavy. i'd still choose a strat over a les paul, mainly because i love blues.

Schecter guitars are really nice. I especially like the Hellraisers, both the Tempest and C7 models are gorgeous. My mate owns a C7 and it is truly amazing to play, plus it looks fantastic and will work well with the genres you want to play.
(PS. Their website is entirely flash so i couldn't link directly, but just go Guitars > Hellraiser for a look)

i disagree with that. at GC, i found a way to play it. if you put the V between your right leg and put your right foot approximately 6inches off the ground, the pressure of your left leg and left arm keeps it steady.

that probably made no sense. lol
yeah it makes sense to me, but its just so much effort. like if you want to bring it somewhere you have to do this and that just to be half comfortable to play, unlike the normal guitar where its comfortable in almost any position.
he can test it out himself though, if it plays well, sounds great and you dont mind the it sits on you then go for it.
best advice is just go to a big guitar store and try out everything, nice and LOUD!
/facepalm worst guitar in the world, i wont go into details but it was just plain dumb.
