No, but a friend of mine does, in his band, which is kinda big here. It's an ..erm..intriguing instrument. Not that huge impact on the kind of music that I listen to, unless you're a God at it, but I personally like it.
Ah because I just purchased one and Im trying to find a good spot to start learning, im trying to find some sort off music that is for begininers but everytime I search up something I get some greenday crap which I hate.
you try you tube at all; there's also a site called expert village that has videos of stuff, might be on there. Can you read tabs? I'd look up pentatonic scales as you'll probably use those scales the most. I've played bass for like 10 years now, so any other questions feel free to ask.
Also there's a book called the bass grimoire that has every conceivable scale you could think of.

Bass is pretty straightforward. I learned to play in like 20 minutes. Youtube is a good place to start.
I really hate how people think bass is an easy instrument to play, you can always be good at it but it takes alot of practice to be amazing at it

I learned to play basic stuff at ultimateguitar
I can play the easy stuff like greenday and a bit of pinkfloyd but now im looking for something slightly harder and maybe someone to explain it

I learned to play bass by learning to play the guitar
(I'm a drummer though) But yeah, you should check youtube for some vids.
Used to check youtube for some solo-practice
Sadly I didn't start with the guitar and YouTube doesn't teach very well Maybe im just slow?

Absolutely impossible.

EDIT: I am DGK. (Got my name changed as you can see)
Well, if you have some sence of rythm you don't really need to play tabs, covers or anything like that. (its practical though) I just started playing the guitar by just playing tunes with some rythm. After that I learned some chords and stuff from my dad. Now a days I just play and play by feeling and figure out riffs and rythm sections.
I guess one of the key things of playing bass (espacially in a band or group) is finding some groove. Our bass player and I (drums) are constantly looking for new parallel groove sections so that the kick/snare are alligning to the bass section.
You can just always go to some bass-guitar class/workshop or something. You know, just to get ya started a bit.
Yeah im thinking of just playing scales right now, maybe hangout with someother bass players and pick up a few things. Too bad there not that common.

If you wanna learn slap bass check out Fieldy from KoRn. He is a pretty good bassist
I have heard him and he has one of the coolest tones ever on his slap. What I like about him and Flea is that they both invented there own styles off slap.

Bass is one of the easier instruments to play actually. That doesn't mean it's easy. It is safe to say piano, guitar, violin and drums are harder to play than bass. The first time I ever picked up a bass guitar was when I was 10 and within 30 minutes I was playing entire Nirvana songs. That's not saying much, but it does attest to the relative easiness of playing bass, especially just picking it up.
Mastering it is another story. Even then, mastering piano, drums, guitar and violin is still harder than mastering bass.

If you want to play bass guitar properly, you will need more than 20 days, nevertheless 20 minutes.

Find out where I said I was good at it. I didn't say I was a prefessional in 20 minutes. All I said was that it was easy to pick up and was rather intuitive after only 20 minutes.

This is just hard as any guitar solo you can find.
If what you saying was correct, I could go play "Sweet Dreams" by marlyn manson on the guitar in a matter of minutes and claim the instrument is easy. Is that really logical?
Tell me how the hardest thing on guitar is the same difficulty as the hardest thing on bass. Explain to me how, given two additional strings to make use of, that this is even possible.

tell me if thats easy, Nirvana on a bass isn't hard. When your hitting RHCP on the bass as fast as flea then talk.
I played Viola for 2 years and can truthfully say it wasn't as hard as bass for me.
I guess it all comes down to past experiece and preferance.
That would be great
I want to learn as much as possible from the more experienced players

Once again the styles of bass differ from the guitar
to truely be amazing at an instrument you should master all styles of it.
Look at Victor Wooten and Regi Wooten as an example to see how bass although it has 2 less strings can keep up with the guitar.

Regi is the guitarist and Victor is the bassist
