but if I told you to kill someone and you did, would I get in trouble?
I'm a human being with an assumed level of intelligence, if you told me too kill someone for no reason and I did, then I would be responsible, not you. A trained dog is a tool, they're intelligent enough to understand commands but will generally just do what they're told. If I tell a dog too kill someone and it does, then I'm at fault. If my dog kills someone while I'm trying to stop it, the dogs at fault. If I fire a gun and kill someone, I am at fault, not the gun. If the gun is faulty and misfires against my will and kills someone, the gun is at fault.
In certain scenarios though this might not work, but as far as I can see in this scenario, the human is ultimately responsible for what happened
but it's not animal cruelty
It may not be animal cruelty in the ordinary sense, but its still a form of cruelty.
Then it's not illegal, that's my whole point. Being an asshole is not illegal.
The law doesn't define ethics
I wouldn't get in trouble for being cruel to a gun.
In my example, the gun represents the dog, and the victim represents the cat. Its the best example I could come up with on the spot, but you're taking it out of context
There is no way to tell if it was forced or not because we don't know the psychology of that particular dog. The human was completely within his rights to remove that cat from his tree. He isn't going to be arrested. Plus, his face wasn't shown in the video (I think), therefore there is no evidence that it was him shooting the video. People are blowing this out of proportion as usual, makes me sicker than the video itself.

Yeah, i've got no problem with someone getting off at seeing dead/mutilated things, as long as that person doesn't have a hand in things being dead/mutilated. (weird sentence)
I don't expect to be any more gruesome than the shit I see daily on local TV. Seriously, see all the crap that goes unchecked in Iraq and such, a dead cat - even if mutilated - hardly stands a chance brutality wise. I have found myself to be quite immune against any kind of gore..you grow used to it after a little while.

Yeah, of course. Not to turn this into some religion based debate or something, but that's just pure bullshit terrorism done by completely none-religion related parties, but more political than anything else to promote hate amongst people.
To be some what on topic, I really don't care that much about anything that happens to any animal. I know that worldwide, hundreds if not thousands die..it's just nature..it being caught on cam and shown to me harbors no effect, since regardless of me seeing it or not, it's happening every passing minute. Just because it's a cute cat dying for the fun of some fucked up idiot doesn't mean I have to go ballistic on the guy. Why not prosecute some guy who slams an ant with his foot. Cats are more scarce? I don't care. A living something is a living something, no matter how endangered, small, big, cute, or ugly it is.
Well, I know a lot of people for some reason think cats and dogs are more valuable than hamsters, but I equate my hamsters with my cats and dog. Some while ago I bought a Blueberry Hamster and the cat managed to rip it out of its cage while I was gone a mutilate it. Now, it was gross, but that kind of behavior is built in to cats and they aren't intelligent enough to have reason to think through the scenario (like the fact that we feed the thing every day so it has no reason to do such a thing).
I then, stupidly, bought another female hamster to companion the enlonesomed hamster sister left alive, and, after about a month, I came home to find that the residing hamster tore the new one open and ripped its rib cage apart. That was more just my stupidity, since I should have known better than to let another hamster from a different litter in to the residing hamster's domain. Again, since hamsters lack the capacity, like dogs or cats, to reason through situations, I blame neither, but in this case it was my own fault.
Now, last year one of my brother's friends came over and beat one to death with my drumstick. That was sick, twisted, and wrong, both because the hamster obviously didn't do anything to him and because he should have known better than to kill a defenseless, unprovacative animal (and also, but to a lesser degree, because it wasn't his, anyway).
But in this situation, I just didn't see any concrete evidence that the guy in the video was trying to kill the poor thing. If anything, the guy recording it on camera is the twisted one. But, of course, we don't know if it was mounted or not, and therefor if it was the guy in the video that was recording. It was also especially sick that after the event transpired, and after knowing what was on the video, the person put it online for everyone to see. That was the part that really grossed me out.
I don't really care about the biological/natural part of this, but I will tell you one thing:
people who are cruel to animals, in whatever way (egging on one animal to kill another is included, psychology wise), are not the kind of people you want to be around. One thing to note is that animal cruelty is one of the early signs of a psychopath and someone with antisocial personality. And sadism, of course. They're cruel to animals because it's easier, but they CAN move on to actual people.
The cat so deserved it. How dare he mind his own business.

My dogs kill my mouse catching cats all the time, I have to clean up the carcasses. So I'm sorta desensitized to this sort of thing. Helping the dog instead of the cat is heartless though. Just watching it isn't animal abuse, its more like viewing the discovery channel. While I don't agree with this guys actions, this is not animal abuse, he isn't harming the cat, the dog is.
are you blind...? like actually blind. he is telling the dog to do it... he might as well be doing it directly himself slamming the cat around. he could stop his dog but he throws fucking ROCKS at it... so please take your 'its ok to kill harmless cats' elsewhere.

At least the dog got fed^_^. Where do people draw the line? If it was a dog catching a squirrel or a rabbit people wouldn't freak but somehow a cat is crossing the line. That guy is an asshole but it's not animal cruelty because he was'nt personally attacking the cat.
i swear on my life that that dog didnt eat that cat or gain any nourishment from it... also he did attack the cat... if you had watched the video you would see that he threw fucking rocks at it. the rocks knocked the cat out of the tree causing its death. it would have been 100% fine up there if it hadnt been for that guy. so again please gtfo of this thread. permanently. unless its to apologize for your stupidity.
if you cant see that he forced his dog to kill that cat then you are more blind then those without sight.
The dog would probably chase the cat regardless, it's what they do. I didn't see any rock throwing, and the cat isn't harmless, just outmatched. Is it okay to kill harmless chickens, cows, and domesticated whatnots? A cat is just a meal to some people. The only reason you are defending this animal is because it's "cute". If it where some horrible looking opossom, you wouldnt give two shits.
