No. They're counting on the masses not to know it. And the masses will never know it.
A couple hundred people in the country informed in politics won't make a difference.
You see, you as a single entity doesn't matter. But the problem is that many people with this same mantra become the problem. When one person follows the masses because they feel they are a droplet within the sea, then your integrity within society is compromised.
I think it's important to know your surroundings. In one way or another, they will affect you. Of course you can always move, but I think it's important to play a part in the world no matter how little of an affect you have.
You see, you as a single entity doesn't matter. But the problem is that many people with this same mantra become the problem.
I disagree. People don't have this mantra, they have a totally different mantra, actually. You see, if most people were intelligent, we wouldn't need a government to begin with.
All governments were corrupt, are corrupt, and will be corrupt.
If you want to help, help someone close to you, community, school, etc. Vote on something that affects your city/state. The government? Forget about it. We need to change how the masses think to do anything.
You see, if most people were intelligent, we wouldn't need a government to begin with.
Of course we would. It's not like the government is merely around to babysit the stupid people. They exist also for public administration for managing utilities and services and responding to disasters. And people can still be very intelligent but be looking out only for themselves and this is where government is also useful.
Keeping you up to date, what bad news is the treasury hiding?
UPDATE 1-US to delay bank test results for earnings-source
WASHINGTON, April 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury Department is planning to delay the release of any completed bank stress test results until after the first-quarter earnings season to avoid complicating stock market reaction, a source familiar with Treasury's discussions said on Tuesday.
LUV the wording, complicate stock market reaction in other words the market is going to tank hard enough on poor earnings and they don't want to risk another all out slide by dropping the bomb of just how insolvent the banks really are. Don't buy this BS about recovery at year end 2010, the bombs don't stop until 2012 and the ALT-A's are all just getting started.
That is something I would expect them to do lol. *Economy Anneurism!*
Yup, gots to loves the games
I just now got around to watching the Apr 8th episode of the Daily Show with Nancy Pelosi on it. Holy crap was she nervous, her expressions and body language said everything! Jon Stewart asked her "is China our bank?" The stark expression of fear on her face screamed yes! She might as well have just said yes because the warm fuzzy sound bite answer was pathetic and naive. You could here a pin drop for the next 3 seconds until Stewart asked "are we broke?" She quickly nervously laughed it off and follows it up with one of the most asinine statements I can recall being made by a politician. "We were broke, but we're coming back".
!?!
oO

No Nancy we're still broke, and you just admitted it by making a ridiculously obvious lie like that.
It seemed like for months everyone was just guessing but now it appears the dollar's fate is a little more certain. The dollar looks like it's rough ride is getting closer now because the numbers are showing the world is not buying as much as we are spending and this is a going to put a kink in Obama's reinvest in America programs. That means the FED will be buying more of itself. The FED printing more dollars and buying it's own debt will cause more problems than good. I like Sean Brodrick's (top link) comment on this "As far as I’m concerned, a government buying its own bonds is like a snake eating its own tail."

What do you suggest we should do? And better yet, what do you think the government should do?
What do you suggest we should do? And better yet, what do you think the government should do?
I so love your rocking emoticon.
The government is making mistakes all over the place and in fairness even if the Republican's had gotten in office they would be making the same basic mistakes in spending. Oh they would defend that they we're spending it more wisely than the Democrat's but the problem is the action of spending itself.
They should be reducing spending, reducing the overall size of government significantly and start paying down our obligations. That is what you do when you are deep in the hole. You tighten the belt, get to work, and start paying down the bills. Neither party has shown they are prepared to go any where near those types of cuts as they should, in this respect Ron Paul is right.
I think though what we can do for ourselves personally is more important than what the nation does, you count on them to screw it up and pat themselves on the back while doing it. You can't expect much from the political process anymore, it's too divisive and the media has killed all the Walter Cronkite's off in the world.
I would not be so presumptuous to give advice as to how people should spend or invest their money. The rules of money are changing and I suspect against employees, the middle class is in the greatest danger no matter how many wonderfully worded speeches we hear to the contrary. Nothing is certain anymore that if for certain, not currencies, banks, business, etc. Personally I think saving, IRA's, 401k's are risky today, a great place to lose money.
That said it's imperative you start $tacking it away in assets which will hold value regardless of the economy. Commodities are good to learn about, things where the fundamentals are not impaired and will always be needed such as food companies, grain, sugar, and companies that produce cosmetics, soaps, household goods etc. These things people will always need regardless of how bad times get. Tangible investments are better than paper right now, real estate for cash flow rentals, it may be even good to purchase certain items which are certain to go up in value over time.
Food for example is going up in cost now, buying cases of wine or fine alcohol can be a better savings plan than an IRA in a market like today. They will go up in value and you can easily sell them later for a profit. The rule of thumb for hell freezing over is 10 to 15% in to precious metals, not as an investment but as a store of value, a savings that will hold value as currencies lose value.
This is why things like wine, real estate, or commodities are great for these moments. They have a basic intrinsic value that is not another mans debt and will always be in demand regardless of times. Starting a business may be peoples best bets for long term prosperity, I'm grateful for my job today but I know that can go away as fast as it came. The best investment today is in your financial education.
I so love your rocking emoticon.[.quote]

I just think that now, in such times of crisis, that the people will be like chickens with their heads off. And when you think about a failing currency in other situations (Mexico, etc.) they always had to adopt a new one. I'm a little frightened to question the next generation's safety in the world of adults. And then I also think, would the next generation do better or screw it up even more?
i am not american so i am not sure on exactly what he has done

Exactly right, chickens with their heads off. You can count on that, and peoples brains are out of this and their emotions are in. It's human nature and rightly so, but now is a great time to mentally pull oneself out of the crisis. So many times we come across people who have problems and we are able to see immediately what they cannot because looking from the outside in and not caught up in it.
If you are thinking how can I do better? We've all heard it's times like these when the savvy prosper, the rich get richer". Even if your goal is not become a business person, you can still a few small things and be in a better boat, this is a buying opportunity. This is a time to buy assets when everyone is sitting on the sidelines afraid. Today many will call you nuts for buying that risky asset, in 10 or so years they will call you a genius when it's 100 times more expensive and you just sold. Today people are looking to unload and they are willing to negotiate, they won't when times are good, they will be arrogant and stubborn then. Now is the perfect time as Warren Buffet says "be bold when others are afraid", prices are in the basement.
