For this to work you would need the following items because going away from the computer, i think, wont work in the eyes of the world record...
Cathader (yep shove that tube up your ureathra)
Diapers for when you have to go poo
someone bringing you up meals to you (call in those mama favors :))
lots and lots of water (Water is the best thing for you rather than energy drinks because it rehydrates your body)
Trust me it will work

Those before me shall quiver in my wake as I unleash the fury within!
I'm going to disappoint you and say that unless you plan to use certain harmful medication, what you plan is psychologically impossible because the brain cannot stay awake for 3 days straight, even in a life-threatening situation. See the guy who tried to fly in an air baloon for 3 days and fell asleep after almost dying from sleep deprivation.
That isn't true at all. Every person is different, and every body can stay awake for a different period of time. Especially if you train for it. I personally have stayed awake for over 4 1/2 days. I have also gone 9 days with only 4 hours of sleep. True, I was having severe hallucinations after 4 days, but it was necessary at the time. Mind you, I did not use any substance to keep myself awake either.
I believe in Diablo Fanatic, and I think once he has finished the 3 days, he will want to keep going for at least another 12 hours. Set the bar high. Set your mind to it, and you will accomplish it.

Ya, OK, if you want to be picky.
ON AVERAGE people cannot stay awake that long. People above 3 are extremely rare.
My point was that it's out of your control. You'll just fall down in sleep deprivation as if someone unplugged you. E.g., it's not something you can achieve. And even if you managed it because your organism is different, that, again, is not an achievement.
3 is actually somewhat of a max.

I imagine how harmful that training is, and I also imagine that diablo fanatic is not one of those people who train for those things.

Didn't someone die while playing WoW? If so, this world-record means nothing. NOTHING!
a girl in China a couple years ago. From not eating and not drinking fluids, not from being awake too long (it was more than 48 hours, though). Hell, even i've played for more than 30 hours straight (day one Diablo 2) but when you got to sleep, you got to sleep!
A date as been set guys, 2 of January. I repeat, the second of January 2008. This shit is going to be going down guys. I'll send you the link a few days before I start so you can watch me live.

Lol, 3 days is easy, wtf? It isn't impossible, and if you're used to staying up, it isn't harmful to do it this once either. Give me some Thrash and Black Metal, 2 packs of Kent Blue, 6 cans of Pepsi, 4 liters of water, a meal every 4-6 hours, a lightbulb, my cousin, my girlfriend, and some measly way of recreational activity, and I can stay the 3 days without breaking a sweat. I rarely sleep because I'm tired; it's mostly because there's nothing else left to do, and I'm incredibly bored, so I just try and get some sleep.
Thats a lame goal, WoW isn't even that fun for that amount of time, at least if your staying sober. I could see if you were trippin the whole time it could probly be a lot of fun. There's plenty of stuff to do in the game but after a day or so straight it all ends up getting repetitive and exhausting.
I'm betting my money you don't do it straight with only bathroom breaks. I'll say you make it close to 35 hours and you'll be done.
good luck though.. haha you'll walk away a better man because of it... hahaha oh man
Sitting on your ass playing a fuckin video game for 3 days nonstop?
No, i mean, staying awake for 3 days is a kickass challenge but why playing a game? That just doesnt make sense.
Something like, walking non-stop for 30 hours maybe, would be a better challenge in any way.
Quote by Diablo Fenatic: "I'm doing it so I can look myself in the mirror every day and think that I'm able to go the distance and realize that no obstacle can stop me if I put my mind and body to it"
Do 300 pushups.
Quote by Jetrall: "Come on, it's gotta be at least partially for the fame or you wouldn't need to announce it here. ;)"
Actually, announcing that youll do something is one of the best ways to motivate yourself i think. Still, if you want self esteem and such (talking to Fenatic), i would say go for physical training.
I've spent more days in the gym my friend than you could have ever dreamed, so don't lecture me about 300 push ups and 30 hours walking. One of the reasons why I'm doing this in particular is because most people can relate to playing video games than spending 2 hours a day in the gym doing a series of intense workouts just to bulk up 10 pounds. My reasons for doing this aren't even that good, but I'm still doing it.
By the way, this is going down the second of January, get you're lunches ready, because it's going to be one hell of a ride.;)

If Guiness records keepers are not there then you cannot claim a world record. So when you say you have everything all lined up I take it they will be there...standing next to your friends and brother?

The blind mind's eye replies with a sigh and a tear of contempt for those who see the world as it truly is.
What i see in your post: "Spending 2 hours a day in a gym to bulk up."
(I am assuming that with a gym you mean a pretty usual one with some weights and lots of machines. Im assuming that you spend that time with 8-12 rep curls and stuff.)
If thats what you define an everyday workout as, then i would highly recommend you to spend some time reading about proper* training, be it in Wikipedia or an internet site, but just dont use Google or any "well-known" sites.
* What i mean with "proper training" (which i know sounds dumb):
As i said, just do what you want if you do it for the heck of it.
Or if you do it for the looks and are getting results and are happy with that, just ignore me.
But if you want true intense performance for something like athletics, then the usual bodybuilding methods (8-12 reps) arent that good.
Of course i know you wont take part in the olympics and such. Youll basically hit harder and sprint faster for longer. Which doesnt mean youll train less for strength. More than bodybuilding actually. Look at powerlifters, olympic lifters, and bodybuilders. Big difference.
So i mean proper training for intense sports or say fighting. Or ultimately, a soldier. A true warrior so to say.
Unless of course, you are really interested in enchancing your performance in which case i would say just spend those 50 bucks and get a book from Ross Enamait. http://www.rosstraining.com/
(Hey BTW im not sleeping for 23 hours lol. I have a hard time writing.)
Dude, stop spewing that Rosstraining crap. It is designed strictly for combat athletes, not any other kind of athlete. It is not the end all answer to every sport, stop acting like it is. He said he is bulking up, Ross training will make him cut down. Believe it or not, if you are trying to gain weight and switch from bodybuilding to "rosstraining" you will immediately start to lose weight. It is a high intensity, explosive, endurance training regimen, nothing more.

Besides, this isn't the thread for that kind of stuff. This thread is about a goal that he set for himself that he wants to achieve. So what if you don't agree with it, you don't need to come in here and berate him on what is a real sport or a real challenge.
Fenatic- Stick to your guns. Use their negativity to fuel your efforts. Good luck tomorrow.
hate to break it to you man, but my current guild leader in wow went from 70-80 in 5 days and he played strait with no break, and a death knight in my guild went from 55-80 in 6 and a half days playing strait threw
