Man, a Starcraft MMO would be so cool IMO. I'm so tired of the 'fantasy' shit that has the same old boring crap. I want to rip shit up with a flamethrower or as a zergling.

I think that they're going to take what they stole from Everquest and refined into WoW and make a completely new product. They certainly have the funds to expand the company and product menu.
Most likely a new product that will be exclusively MMO, like a challenger of EVE Online, a space combat game would be so like them because it's a concept that is ripe for the plucking and under developed, but developed just enough that they could capitalize off of it.
EVEOnline is a most unique mmo I see so far. You don't just go out and kill, loot, log off. Next day, log on and repeat the process, lol.
Personally, I think maybe an MMO with interactive politic might be good. Imagine starting out as a prostitute, then work your way up to be a pimp, O.o, then keeper of the harems, lol
They are using Diablo III to fully set up the story for the MMO, and they are making sure to flesh out Sanctuary as much as they can. I mean, why draw a picture of Skovos when it cannot be accessed in Diablo III? Sounds fishy...
And by the way, why would they risk putting all this time into a new MMO with a brand new franchise? People might not like it, so it would be stupid to assume a new franchise would be popular enough to have it's own MMO.
Diablo (or StarCraft) is much more likely to get the next-gen MMO title. Both games are proven to be favorites by fans, and they have almost guarenteed success as MMO's. But Diablo seems the easiest to bend into being MMO.
However, they did take Warcraft III, an RTS, and transformed it into an MMO just a few years after it's release, so it's very likely they could do the same after StarCraft II - which I'm sure would be sweet as hell.

Actually, it was the best MMO, not anymore I don't think. Didn't they change all kind of stuffs in it? I stopped playing it the same time Diablo 2 come out,
Not ashamed, more like being a bit odd. Since its an age of online games (unofficially?).

Yeah, they added a bunch of dumb shit to it in a patch one time that totally turned me off - but I loved everything about the game.
- Spells
- Locations
- Reputation
- Monsters
- Dungeons
- Loot
- Tradeskills (Mining, Tailoring, Fletching, Forging, etc.)
- Skills (and Grandmastering them :D)
- Resurrection via Bandage
- Housing
- Actually being able to lose stuff when you die
- Flamestrike
- The Towns
- Pesky Brigands
- Oh, and dare I say Treasure Hunting?!?!

exactly my thoughts except for the Starcraft II MMO part. I'm mostly into fantasy, not sci-fi so i'd prefer it more to my taste. But chances should be equal with Diablo a slightly better card. Because they already mentioned that "Diablo 3 will be the end of the trilogy but not the end of the franchise". Thats even fishier than the Skovos isle.
Looking at what StarCraft II and Diablo III are doing, I can see it going either way.
My two best arguments for a StarCraft MMO:
Futuristic sci-fi MMOs are on the rise to challenge the dominance of EVE (such as Earthrise, Dark Prophecy, Jumpgate Evolution, Star Trek Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic), and it seems likely that Blizzard would want to compete.
It seems likely that StarCraft II's campaign, supposedly so massive that it needed to be split into three separate releases, packs far more IP-building goodness than Diablo III will. IP-building goodness that could help make an MMO make sense, hopefull so Blizzard wouldn't have to pull all the retconning they did for World of WarCraft. They seem to be approaching Diablo III quite lightly in comparison.
My two best arguments for a Diablo MMO:
Diablo III seems to be opening up the world of Sanctuary in exactly the manner that would be needed to set the stage for an MMO. They've advanced to non-gender-restricted classes from vastly different corners of the world. Heaven is becoming more involved. The Worldstone's destruction allows humans born afterward to regain the power they once possessed as the Nephalem, making Sanctuary a more high-fantasy, anyone-can-be-a-hero kind of setting, and inflating the formerly sparse human population. I personally fear that this will obsolesce the loneliness that greatly helped the setting work as a dark fantasy in the past, but that's another topic.
While StarCraft is a futuristic, soft science-fiction setting, it is in many ways but a high-technology mirror of WarCraft. Mostly in atmosphere. High-fantasy with lasers is still high-fantasy. Just ask George Lucas. Meanwhile, Diablo is, despite being far closer to WarCraft technologically, very far from WarCraft indeed when it comes to just about everything else. It may be that StarCraft would steal more of WarCraft's audience than Diablo would. It may be that World of WarCraft players would be more interested in a StarCraft MMO's colorful and magical pew-pewing than an Abrahamic Dark Ages fantasy MMO. It may be that a Diablo MMO would attract people that won't play WoW for other reasons than that it features swords rather than guns.

Good point. In all seriousness, what else could that mean? A Diablo RTS? Hah!

i know remember reading that the next gen mmo wouldn't involve any of their current franchises...
edit: looked quite a bit and can't find where i read that..
but i remember it well because it was before diablo 3 was announced and i was a little heartbroken that it had no chance of being diablo related.

serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.

The last MMO game I played was UO, lol. Guild War doesn't count, since LFG all day and still end up play by yourselves anyway.
You laugh as if you're ashamed. UO was the best MMO I've ever played - far better than WoW could ever be.

No, I remember it, too. I second you.
