I would prefer no monthly fees, but I would more than gladly pay one-time fees for new content. Though Jay Willson explicitly said that they won't be adding new content (like they do with WoW), so that's out of the question (to my sadness). It's basically going to be the core game, one expansion at some point, and that's probably it. Second expansion if we're ultra lucky.
Where did you find this statement ? this must be false, Blizzard will release content updates to Diablo 3 through patches same thing with Starcraft II... same thing with all games. Even Warcraft III FT got content update through patch. Diablo II 1.10 Patch was a content update if you think about it.
Well if Blizzard "needs" the small amount of money a few people would invest for minor perks in order to support the additions and patching that goes into Diablo 3, I guess they arent spending a penny on Diablo 3 from the millions they make off of WoW every month once Diablo 3 releases which can be judged at different angles.
Umm, "totally fair"?
Do you know what features he's talking about? No? Then don't be talking "fair" yet.
He just said no charging for anything core to the gameplay experience- only for extra B.Net features that they might want to implement...He just put all your bullshit P2P concerns and whatnot suspicions to rest by saying it's just box price and nothing else for future content related additions. CASE FUCKING CLOSED.
Some people just can't be pleased ever...ridiculous. You SHOULD be relieved and its VERY fair.
Who can complain thats its not P2P? Lets stop talking about P2P and yea. WOOOOT NO PAY TO PLAy!!!! HELL YEA DRUNKEN PARTAY!!

Well, this should please everyone. I wasn't against the idea, it's just that if it had been P2P i might have cancelled my WoW account for a while, but that shouldn't be necessary now.
Hopefully i won't be needing to change my name very often, heh

Stay.

No P2P, I'm happy again. I'd imagine things like setting up a guild would cost money.
I'm thinking more like SOE's EQPlayers.com service, albeit integrated into Battle.net. Expanded profiles with detailed character statistics and the like. I'd also imagine name changes, and probably transferring to other Battle.net realms.
I'd be amused if they charged for changing the gender of your character.

‘I'M NOT LEAVING UNTIL WE ALL HAVE AIDS!’—The importance of calling them ‘mercenaries.’
You have a character allotment of 3. For more characters, $X per character slot.
You have a stash allotment =ish to the size of D2. For $X you can get a larger stash.
For $X you can share the stash between X character and Y character.
For $X you can get special graphics for X armor/weapon.
For $X you can access more than 4 player games in multiplayer.
For $X you can have a guild and certain guild bonuses, which may require more $.
For $X you can gain addition bags for carrying capacity.
For $X you can access Hardcore mode, which carries alterable stats and no respecs, with rewards of some sort at the "end".
All of these things are incremental "make you want to pay for them" kind of improvements that I see. They don't affect core gameplay, but without them, the gameplay seems more "plain". This is the kind of thing that any normal developer would have included as options in a fully released game before paying for a complete game became a rarity. Nothing like paying for features that would have been included if internet weren't an option...
You basically listed hellgate's subscription model which blizzard says they want to stay away from and those affected the core gameplay while blizzard is trying to stay away from anything altering the game.
With Battle.Net we're definitely looking at possible different features that we might be able to do for additional money. We're not talking about Hellgate or anything like that. We're not going to tack things on. I think World of Warcraft is a great example to look at. We charge people if they want to switch servers or if they want name changes, things that aren't core to the game experience, they're really just optional things that some people want. It takes us some development work to do it, so it makes sense to charge for it. We would never do something like say to get the full game experience, you'll have to pay extra.

Not even that, since guilds would be considered part of the core gameplay experience.

Those things I listed are not necessary for the "full game experience" in any way shape or form.
