For one it's just an opinion. Opinions are complex things. Although I dislike WoW, I'm able to comprehend why people do enjoy it. It's a very massive, very polished, very long game. The slow paced gameplay and the repetitious questing was a turn off to me. It's really just not my style. Now with WC3, mind you I never bothered playing the expansion much, I felt was at times very unbalanced with the races. I didn't enjoy the graphical element of it, I got really dizzy how they tried to incorporate that 3d look into an RTS. The camera was always extra close to everything, and the rolling hills felt really awkward. I didn't like the RPG element of the heroes. It looked good on paper, but it was a large turn off to me. I didn't like how the unit control ended at 50. I didn't like how the more units you made, the less gold you could mine. They stated in an interview that due to graphical limitiations, they could only fit so many units on the screen. Due to that limitation they tried their best to work around it and implement things like the upkeep. Didn't like that idea. So with WoW, it just didn't appeal to my taste, with WC3, I just didn't like it.
I personally didn't care for WC1. I got spoiled by WC2's absolutely gorgeous graphics and game mechanics and then when I went to WC1, it felt so wierd.
Personally WC2 is one of the best games Blizzard ever put out in my oppinion.
Also, WoW haters, play it first before you hate it. If you have a level 21 or higher then you can hate it, but if you don't have at least a level 21 then your oppinion means jack. (I say 21 because the trial ends at level 20. Thus you would have to actually buy and play the game, getting the full experience out of it rather then just the trial experience, as trialers are looked down upon by the WoW community... (Plus they don't get all the perks of the full game, including even trading...) )
WoW. because i felt like i was playing it because i was addicted to it and not fbecause i wanted to play it for fun.... but after an intervention and some patches (about two months later) i got off of it.... and when i look back at it i tell myself... man im glad that phase of my life is over with...
*gets shivers in my spine*.. i was a lvl 25 undead rogue...so i did play it for a while
Common argument: Warcraft two sucks. It has bad graphics compared to Warcraft 3 and other current gen games.
Fact: Warcraft 2 is probably older then most of the members on this forum, sad enough. Warcraft 2 is one of the best games Blizzard made. It was far more realistic then Warcraft 3 or WoW, and was also more of a darker game then its successors. Sadly, its successors are more of a fun game then the dark game that Warcraft two was.
From what I've seen I doubt it... someone in an interview* even basically admitted they didn't make D2 as dark/spooky as D1 and they needed to work on that for D3...
Anyways, for me it was Diablo 2, a few months after its release after the initial elation faded.
4 majour problems I had with D2 at the time were
1) D2 was obviously unbalanced.... this was a big no-no for Blizzard which always had a reputation for releasing balanced games. For example back then Necros used Iron Maiden with Blood Golems that would never die because the IM damage would count as if the Golem did damage. Thornadins and hammerdins were everywhere and almost every mage used Frozen Orb; basically people used cookie cutter builds... heh... things sure have changed
2)Skill system. In D1 as a mage or even a warrior you could learn anything with enough stats. In D2, if you messed up on something... too bad... and playing a sorc you had to specialize in one or so skills, which seemed so much more boring (looking back, I seemed to have forgotten that in D1 you pretty much did the same with fireball and chain lightning)
3)Hype. We were promised a whole bunch of stuff, most of which I can't remember anymore but these included Barbarians that could harvest herbs, official clans/guilds, guild banks, etc. A lot of this stuff was only implemented in WoW.
4)Sameness in items. I didn't like uniques... for example way back then before even LoD, Frostburns were in. (so were SoJs obviously); if you were any kind of self-respecting caster you had to get frostburns. I'm a big fan of Teh Random, I wanted my character to be unique, not filled with uniques or sets everyone else had. (I had also forgotten that D1 also suffered from this problem somewhat - but Gambling in D2 made it worse)
I'm sure I had other reasons for being disappointed but it's been so long I can't remember them. The hype about features that never made it in D2 along with the lack of balance, I think, ruined it most for me.
Oh, and in A1 Nightmare/Hell you still had minor pots... even the Barbarian's Find Pot only found minors... no full rejuvs, no supers from corpses and definitely not from vendors. So annoying
And now I'm playing LoD...... *sigh*... dupes, runewords........ I hope randomness is re-emphasized in D3 (uniques, sets and socketed items are still good and should stay, but I think the best items in the games should be rares, and perhaps sets)
Oh well, on the bright side, it isn't a very addicting game for me anymore (and I mean that in a good way)
Wow, I sound so harsh on D2... but bear in mind these are things I felt way back when around the time of its release and I had really high hopes
As for WoW, the highest I played was a level 32 Mage, but I had one or two other lvl28 or 30 mages as well. Funnest time was running through Loch Modan at level 20 as an Undead, to grab that waypoint that connects North and South, Kargath?... sneaking and sheeping past the guards, pulling aggro several screens away in the Badlands(?).
Oh and using Retaliation on my warrior when I was getting ganked in Ashenvale back when people couldn't see you had it, to kill a higher level rogue, warrior and finish off a mage.
But the quests are...crappy, seriously they suck in terms of quality.
And I would always get bored, it would feel like work after awhile with all the professions, raids etc. And the monsters are always the same... they really need to have more original and varied monster designs...

Yea, I agree there were problems, but I still found the game very addictive and I was immersed in the story.
Edit: Oh, and I really agree that the best possible of each item should be magical/rare and not unique. Also it would be nice if there were more affixes balanced to make no 'clear best' so everyone isn't shopping for the same "Cruel ______ of quickness."

Yea, I haven't enjoyed Diablo 2 for about two years now, because everyone is cheating it seems. The economy is fucked up and even though Blizzard bans and resets ladder, people will always find ways to dupe.
Oh, and all my accounts got stolen too, before the duping outbreak. Probably could have made 200+ bucks off all my shit easy, oh well.
Edit #2: Going to Italy for a month, so have a good one guys.

Yes me too when I first bought the game... I spent a whole summer playing it before weening myself out of it. (But being a newbie, I'd mess up my first few characters) And I've always liked the story behind Diablo.
But I still think D2 / LoD is the worst of the Blizzard games... the worst of the best.
Then again, WoW is pay-for-play, if you factor that in, technically that makes it the worst IMO
I don't know really. From a personal standpoint, I am going to say Starcraft, because even if it is monstrously balanced and has a great story, it doesn't help me enjoy the gameplay.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I'd say WC3, The one game I never got into as much as any other, although the only reason it wasn't terrible was the amazing customisability of the map editor, from Hero Arena, toTower Defence, to Footman Wars, and of course Dota... It kept the game alive.

WC3 and D2 are probably the best.
WC2 is very legendary actually, it is definately not close to being their worse game. At least the "professional" game reviewers don't think so.
