Have you played Starcraft for the N64? The idea of controling even one character with an analog stick is rediculous. Of course you would have to make some changes, as the DS is built for fun, rather then a portable entertainment center for nerds ala PSP, but in the end it would be a better game, as it would offer much more controlability.
That being said, the PSP will still probably be choosen as the platform if there is a handheld version of Diablo released, and then when the game fails, and it will fail on a PSP, it will be given a fate similar to Diablo 1's expansion...
Edit:It was the PS1, not the PSP. And there is a reason why D2 isn't on the PS2 and D3 won't be on the PS3.
Doom has been ported unofficially to the psp, and plays perfectly. No reason why D2 cant be.
Doom is open source. Doom is a DOS game that works on 486s. Doom can be played with directional keys and two additional buttons. Yes, I see the similarities.

Doom is also on the Gameboy Advance, and with aditional content too!

Diablo 2 on the psp would be clumsy.
I dont think Diablo would fit on PsP. I wouldent get a PsP to play Diablo anyway when I got a nice good computer.

It can be done and that's a fact. The controls for the psp are pretty efficent even though it's just an hand held. If it can play games like this, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTxNIuBA6Ag, it can play Diablo 2 no sweath. Why wouldn't you want to play Diablo 1 or 2 on an hand held? I would.

I like the life I lived, because I went from negative to positive.
You know very well who you are, don't let them hold you down, reach for the stars.

Those games look pretty. Then again that's what sony tries to do. Make shit look pretty.
Seriously though, all fun and sony bashing aside, there's more to a game then just the graphics, and with the AI, all the action of 8 players+monsters+bosses it can get a little bit heavy. And at that, an isometric action rpg would have some issues on a hand held with only a mini-joystick and four buttons+shoulder buttons.
Wait.. diablo came out on the playstation portable? o.o...
aside from that... NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU DO NOT WANNTT!
Diablo II should not be on psp >.<. Mainly because i dont have one and would feal left out >.>. And because blizzard would lose money on the matter because it would take more to re-process it, to compact it, make it, and ship it. And most people that already have diablo II on the computer probably wouldnt want to buy a game thats lesser than its original version. And because of that. Blizzard would lose money and might not make anymore games untill it recovers from it. Or worse they might postpone Diablo III again >.<.
Oh and PsP is playstation portable.. not playstation.. they are two different things..

I am one of many...
Do not consider me insane or crazy, I am but a person who seeks a change in the life styles of life we must live.
Conformity has no curve.. but is a circle at the same time...
Do not judge me for attempting to change the way in which i live my life, while i slowly change the lives of those around me...
For when i am gone.. the world will have changed... if only slightly. But when i am gone.. others will take my place...
No chance. Teleport would be funky, aiming spells would be hard, and even opening doors would be impossible. Diablo is a game that could only be played on computer since it's a point and click game, and PSPs can't have point and click, and if you think otherwise, then you have problems.
It is cool to play it on small devices like that, I got it run nicely on the OQO www.oqo.com until I sold it, (for as cool as it looks, the keyboard blows - what a waste of cash). Ah but now they have the new cost efficient new UPMC's such as the Acer 10" Aspire http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10107921-1.html so if it's not a PS2, there are some new ways to take your not too resource intense games with you.
