Most powerful person in the country? If you ask me, bureaucrats are the most powerful. >_< The president is a representative figure but he's not all that powerful. No matter how crazy Obama is he can only do so much, but that so much may just be enough. To change the country or crash it a bit sooner.
Someone who does nothing is not any better than someone who does crazy stuff, not in the condition we are in. There's nothing more useless than a president who sits back and doesn't do shit. We NEED change, and McCain is not change.
Change is one of the bullshitiest Phrases used in this campaign, tell me what change has obama ever made? None, he has been just a average polition, and hasent done a damn thing for my state of illinois.
Just for the record, we went into a pointless war with Bush senior, got our military reduced by a shit load by Clinton, and got fucked up the ass by Junior. Our country has been going down hill ever sense the end of WWII, and it doesn't matter if Obama or McCain get in offiice. What matters is that someone stands up and says enough.
And every American is fat and happy and won't say a damn thing.

Isn't that wonderful. We did have some worthwhile presidents, and Clinton could be one of them, especially if he didn't screw it up with his healthcare plan...

What the hell does that even mean?

I think Ron Paul would've been a great change personally, but surprise surprise, he didn't make it to the final cut.
I wasn't really surprised. Rednecks don't know what the word "Economy" means, but when they see military, they go "Vote for the army guy he's our man!" Ron Paul is someone I may have actually supported, but, no...
If there is anyone I'd never want to see as a president, is someone who deliberately went forward to kill other people.
I mean Americans are a bunch of 7 year old spoiled brats who get what they want and giggle when they see pee pee parts. Americans need to grow up. That's what I mean. The world isn't fairies and gumdrops and lollipops, the world is a cold harsh place and Americans are being blindly lead through it. Americans need to open there eyes or the Politicians are going to lead us right into WWIII.
But as long as Americans are spoiled, they will keep there eyes shut.
As for Clinton minimizing our military. Yes, I would LOVE to not have or need a military. But as long as there are people that will do us harm, we need a military. (Not saying we need to use the military to do stupid shit like Iraq, but for protection, yes, we need people who are trained to protect us.
Quick question, somewhat off topic. Anyone see the documentaries: Who killed the electric car?, Hacking Democracy, or End game of the Illuminati? They all seem rather pertinent to world affairs and current major public topics such as elections, energy usage in the automobile industry, and on previous events surrounding 9/11.

Nothing happens to you, but everything happens for you.
you know what i still find energy, the republicans this year are down, very very down, and yet in most polls john mccain is somewhat keeping up with obama, give er take a 10 point max.
Did you guys check out Sarah Palin? Oh my God!!! She's so.... hot-ot-ot-ot-ot.
But she is insane.
Therefore, Obama > McCain.

What is normal? Normal is a concept that everyone or a majority of people are the same or similar. However, we know that everyone is unique. If everyone is unique, then everyone is different. If everyone is different, then everyone is weird. If everyone is weird, then everyone is normal.
anyone watch the debate, with minor differencies the main ideas are basically the same between both parties. the only real important diff is that mccain has 22 years exp in government and obama had 376 days exp in government.

Hey all, its been a while since I've posted here. I'm surprised this thread is still alive and well, I argued for the first... say, 10 pages, then got bored. Unfortunately, neither candidate really is amazing, and it leaves me to drift to the political philosophies instead of the candidate.
I'd like to say though, that Obama is simple hype, great oratory, but nothing really more.
Granted I'm an American citizen (which I am not), here are my 2 cents.
I wouldn't vote for either in support and I won't vote for one to spite the other. I'll never vote for someone whom I disagree with almost entirely just because I disagree with the other guy more. I doubt the day will ever come that I can vote for someone I both like and who stands a reasonable chance of winning. Before that could ever happen, the majority of people would not only have to change their fundamental ideals about what government should and shouldn't do for them, but also about what they should do for themselves and each other. It's easier for someone to pick the clique they disagree with the least and ride that bandwagon to their own demise than it is for them to think for themselves. The desire, however subconscious it may be, to become a part of something larger than yourself is universal. The same basic things that divide people politically also divide them economically and religiously. Namely, fear and comfort. People sacrifice knowledge for comfort and freedom for security, all along not realizing that the road they've so willfully taken is the same road they fought to avoid; and thus the cycle continues and public opinion changes ever so slightly from one dogmatic ideology to the next as history is forgotten and only nostalgia remains. I have no reasonable expectation for that to change anytime soon.

Same can be said about McCain, and about almost every president excluding a few special ones (FDR). We are to choose the lesser of two evils here...
And, frankly, for myself, it is between the Democrats and Palin. I do not like her very, very much. Are you supporting McCain because you are in the military?

Its because they think they are their fucking khakis.
Where I live, all of my state's electoral votes are going to be Republican. Republicans understand this to the point that even they don't campaign here. I'm not voting for McCain or Obama, but rather for Nader. Partly because of his policies, but also for the sake of diversity. I'm fed up with politicians and two party system that dominates U.S. politics.
The only difference between the Republicans and Democrats is that the Republicans want to spend as much, but pay for it all later, while the Democrats want to spend an equal amount and pay for it now.
I guarantee you if the ballots had an option on it that allowed you to choose, "None of the above" then that option would get the majority vote.

If I am not mistaken, you have the option of writing that on the ballot as your choice, which is what I plan to do.
