Why can't i edit this site's background with Greasemonkey scripts?

Hey it's not my job to explain how to use programs / software to members.
That's irrelevant. It sounds like you're unfamiliar with grease monkey. Therefore, you should research it to better understand what he's referring to. He's not asking to be explained software, he's asking for clarification on the compatibility of a java script with this website. If you don't know the answer. Say, IDK, my knowledge of web developement doesn't expand that far.
Uh... No idea. Don't even know what 'greasemonkey script' is.
A firefox addon that allows users to customize the webpage using JavaScript, according to Google... and if it doesn't work with this website, and you are an admin, who's else responsibility is it?
A firefox addon that allows users to customize the webpage using JavaScript, according to Google... and if it doesn't work with this website, and you are an admin, who's else responsibility is it?
I think he's just extremely limited in his knowledge of web design. I would ask somebody who knows a bit more. I'm unaware of how much mockery or Umaro knows.
I'm gonna mess around with the scripts. I'm curious myself. Maybe it's a simple answer. Dunno.
Lol. Wow, you're being very subtle there aren't you, bard? Yeah, I clearly know nothing about web design - which is why I was hired as the lead designer for this entire network and have designed numerous other sites over the years.
Just because I don't about one specific Firefox addon means I'm extremely limited. Get a clue, will you?
As for looking it up, that's not my job. It also isn't my job to know everything about web design or Firefox addons or Javascript. If it doesn't work with this site, that's nothing to do with me, nor is it my fault - or my duty to solve. It's not my program. Saying that I should be responsible for a program that I did not make or even know about before today is kind of ridiculous.
Besides, this thread is not for questions about Firefox addon compatibility, it's about the updates I've been adding to this site - which I designed, thank you very much. If you want to criticize my skill or knowledge, feel free to get off the site that I designed.
Lol, easily offended much? I'm not on a site that you designed. I'm on a site that was designed long before you got here. If you're referring to the skin that you added to the website, whoopty, I don't use it. If you're referring to the smiley faces that I never use, good for you, I'm sure it was very difficult.
Did you know if you use the "Dark Fantasy +" skin. The majority of the links are broken? Did you know, as an admin on SCtwo.com. All of the links for "reply" and "Quick reply" are broken? Seriously? What are you always so boasty about? I also want to add, this isn't about firefox compatibility. It's a java script. JAVA SCRIPT. Do you know anything about Java? Maybe the script doesn't run with VBulletin? Do you know XML? Do you know PHP? MySQL? Are you good at clicking your mouse button?
You glorify yourself far too much. Link me to the websites that you designed from the ground up? What coding do you use for the websites? Know any programming? List anything?
It's not your job to inform Zubin how to work with the script. But there is no need to act like you're on some high chair, and his problems aren't significant enough for you to spend time on. This site having compatibility with a java script is a fair question for him to ask. You aren't familiar with it, you are far too ignorant to research it for yourself. That's ok. I'm not criticizing you, I'm just saying, you aren't knowledgable enough to be the one he should ask. He should take up his question to a more educated source.
Yeah, I clearly know nothing about web design - which is why I was hired as the lead designer for this entire network and have designed numerous other sites over the years.
Wed design does not equal to web development, though...
If you are somehow administratively responsible for the website you are also supposedly interested in users. If you are interested in users, you want them to come over. And if people use Firefox, and you don't support Firefox, yes, it's the problem of administration, not the users, really, tons of people use Firefox. Same with addons, and greasymonkey is rather popular, I think, I heard of it before.

Yeah.
Anyways, the website does support Firefox. I use Firefox to view it and it works great. If you want to use addons that's great, but I'm not responsible for understanding them all and incorporating them. I care about the users, but once more - this thread has nothing to do with Firefox addons - nor is it my responsibility to make them work with this site. Complain to the folks who made that program.

I'm not offended, I just don't stand for stuck up idiocy.
This site existed before I came here (obviously), but it's current design did not. The skin IS the design, seeing as this is a forum - not a regular site - as well as the logo, buttons, and any other custom images. Both Atrumentis and myself worked very hard and to dismiss it is both rude and uncalled for.

Well, the Dark Fantasy skin shouldn't even still be up. We were considering using it as a base for our design early on, but replaced it later on with Carbonfibre. I dont know why Umaro has not removed it as an option.
As for SC2 - I've said this before, and this'll be the last time I say it. I HAVE NO ADMIN POWERS ON SC2! I have the title, but literally none of the power. I cannot change any of the forum code - at all. All I can do is upload images to the ftp server. That's it. So I can't do anything there in relation to broken links. (And yes, I have said this before).
Yes, I do have some knowledge of Java. I am by no means an expert, but that really doesn't matter because, last time - I am not responsible for making outside programs work with this site. I am not a coder for that program, never have been. If it doesn't run with VBulletin, then obviously there's nothing I could do even if it were my responsibility.

I glorify myself? Where have I glorified myself in any way? I have merely defended myself and my work. If that counts as glorifying myself then I am guilty as charged. If glorifying myself means being cocky and considering myself better than others, then that's utter bullshit that you're spouting off there, because I have never acted like that.

I already agreed that there's nothing wrong with the question - just the fact that this thread is not for asking questions about Java script issues with some Firefox addon. This thread is to discuss updates I've been adding to this site to make it better for everyone - so sorry that I'm a selfish cocky prick who thinks only of himself.
He needs to create a new thread about this issue - which is a commonly known rule.
I'm not too ignorant to research this addon, it's just not my duty. I'm busy with other things and unfortunately I don't have a ton of free time to do things I don't need to. Clearly being busy means I'm ignorant.
You aren't criticizing me? I guess it's possible you don't know the definition of criticize, but I'm going to assume that you are more intelligent than that. Mind if I present you with some examples of where you actually were criticizing me?..

Care to rescind your statement?
Anyways, this discussion ends here. This is not the proper thread for it, and any further posts on this issue will be deleted. If you want to continue to whine and try to not-so-subtley criticize my skill and intelligence, do it via PM. Other members don't want or need to see this. Good thing I respect the members and their wants/needs when I know I can help them.
EDIT: Clearly people aren't listening. I will delete any further posts on this issue in this thread. Start a new thread related to this issue or - more prefferably - continue this discussion via PM.
EDIT2: As suggested, I will lock this topic now. Clearly people have no idea how to read simple sentences such as "I will delete any more posts on this topic", "respond via PM", and "this is unrelated to the thread topic". It's really unfortunate that I have to do this, as I'd like to continue hearing responses to the updates. Oh well.
First off - I tire of people who want to get the last word in ESPECIALLY MODS/ADMINS. We're having a discussion about your designs for the webpage. This is relevant. So stop trying to cowardly walk from this conversation because I'm questioning your ability.

Web design has many elements to it. Coding, scripting, graphical, etc. Now, just for clarification. You aren't a developer, you're an artist that provides some of the graphical aspects of the webpage.
Anyways, the website does support Firefox. I use Firefox to view it and it works great. If you want to use addons that's great, but I'm not responsible for understanding them all and incorporating them. No one is asking you to support firefox and its addons. It was a question of why doesn't it work. All you had to say was, I'm not knowledgable in this area of web development/design. You don't have to say, "ITS NOT MY PROBLEM". It's a rude response in my opinion.
This site existed before I came here (obviously), but it's current design did not. The skin IS the design, seeing as this is a forum - not a regular site - as well as the logo, buttons, and any other custom images. Both Atrumentis and myself worked very hard and to dismiss it is both rude and uncalled for.
I didn't realize smiley faces were such a daunting task. Your dilligence has been noted in my book of amazing people. However, I don't use your "design". I use speedvision. I don't like Carbon Fibre. The font colors are bad. They're too blendy. And since when can you claim a skin as your own design? A bit of copyright going on.
Well, the Dark Fantasy skin shouldn't even still be up. We were considering using it as a base for our design early on, but replaced it later on with Carbonfibre. I dont know why Umaro has not removed it as an option.
Ok then, that concludes the topic of Dark Fantasy. I guess Umaro needs to rid of it if there are no plans to support it.
My apologies for not reading this. So has Umaro just not given you enough priveleges for a reason. Or is the purpose of you being an admin to just load images onto the ftp server? I'm just curious.
Right, you don't have the acquired knowledge to answer his question. That's really all you have to say. I mean you never directed me to any web pages that you apparently made. You know "some" java. So I just wanted to clarify how much you know as far as web development, not graphical design. So it's just been proven, you know very little about the aspects of web development. So to answer Zubin AS I ALREADY HAVE. Jetrall is not the guy to ask. He's limited to graphical aspects ONLY. Is this an ok thing to say?
I glorify myself? Where have I glorified myself in any way? I have merely defended myself and my work. If that counts as glorifying myself then I am guilty as charged. If glorifying myself means being cocky and considering myself better than others, then that's utter bullshit that you're spouting off there, because I have never acted like that.
Well you being cocky is an opinion. You may not agree. But I've had multiple conversations with a few people who completely define you as cocky. I know this is a bit of a low hit. Because it's a very unproven thing to say. But it's nice to have others agree with me in this aspect. You're very cocky. Your smiley faces at the end of every post. The way you brag about your administration on d3.com on other sites "Deviant Art" anyone? Your ONE SICK ARTIST. The way you get strongly offended by someone not appreciating your work. You're not a fan of feedback. I think the Carbon Fibre is ugly personally. I don't like the the colors. I don't like the big skulls that represent whether there are new posts or not. I dislike the skin.
I acted like I'm on a 'high chair'? Where? I acted like his problems are insignificant? Where?
By telling him it's not your problem. You're too good to google grease monkey. You're too good to research the issue.
Perhaps you should think of only having the first post of the thread with updates. Lock the thread. Then whenever you want to bump the thread because you have more information, unlock it, post "update", edit your first thread. Instead, you keep it open for discussion. This is what I'm doing. Discussing with you. Your implementations and LACK OF. So just because you don't like my response, don't tell me it's irrelevant. I bet if I was like ,"JETRALL THIS SITE ROCKS!" you'd think it was relevant.
I'm not too ignorant to research this addon, it's just not my duty. I'm busy with other things and unfortunately I don't have a ton of free time to do things I don't need to. Clearly being busy means I'm ignorant.
No, you're too ignorant to type Grease Monkey in the google bar, instead you responded rudely. That's where you're ignorant. Not studying the java script he's referring to is understandable. At least you can respond appropriately.
Care to rescind your statement?
You're right. I went from a simple response to severe criticism. However, I started out trying to push you to just accept you're not familiar with coding or programming. You refused to just openly admit you're not any good at web development. You're good at graphical design.
Anyways, this discussion ends here. This is not the proper thread for it, and any further posts on this issue will be deleted. Whats with people not liking confrontation? This is a good discussion. I'm getting to know you Mr. Flick-Parker and your qualifications for web design.
The entire argument between myself and SpanishBard has been soft-deleted by me and this thread reopened in anticipation of my next round of updates. Seeing as I like to receive constructive criticism and (god forbid) compliments - not to mention I'd like to hear people's suggestions for future updates and changes - I'm going to tentatively reopen it and hope that we can all keep it civil this time around.

BBcode? that is what again? And is there any real reason why we would need it, or does it do stuff HTML cannot. I myself vaguely recall hearing about BBcode in tech, but from what I have seen here, HMTL seems to work fine enough. I haven't run into any issues yet. But overal I'm fairly internet sheltered. I know what works and stick to it, I don't venture around much.

Well I don't know if it requires bbcode or html. I know it's an option for both coding languages. But, I think anchoring would be a nice option to have. For instance, like a button on the reply interface, you know with the Bold Italic Underline Emoticons etc. Then when we have these LONG posts like the Diablo2 tutorial thing that ferret posted. It could be organized better using anchoring.

This is an example of anchoring:

Click on the links, it drags you down the page. Except having the options for users to insert an anchor.
And, do posts accept html code? I don't know.
