Now before I get started, I would like to tell you that movie reviews for me do not come often. I either love the movie....or I don't. So lets get started? Oh, yea, one more thing:
*.*Spoilers!!!^_^
The movie is about a middle-aged professor. A kurmedgeon. He's rude, he's a smartass, and he's very smart. However he is also very athletically handicapped, which becomes a problem when his car is impounded. He jumps over the unguarded fence, grabs an item of seeming importance out from his car, and is spotted as he jumps back. His horrible shape causes him to slam his head on the floor, and he wakes up to a female doctor who we later find out used to be a student of his and even had a crush on him.
This professor also has a loser fun-loving adopted brother who doesn't have a job, but professor needs a driver and thus is forced to take in the brother for his services. He has a daughter that lives for A+'s, and who's idea of a good time is helping the republican party. His son is the least present in the film, but is a poet who gets his poem in the New York Times.
The professor and the doctor go out once, he talks way too much, and she ditches him. They go out again, he gets laid, and right away he becomes extremely clingy. She ignores his calls, doesn't talk to him, but Christmas rolls around and she goes to his house with a cake. Meanwhile the uncle is trying to get his neice to loosen up and have some fun, but mind you he isn't trying to bang her. He takes her to a bar, she gets drunk, and she tries to kiss him and asks him to screw her, at which point he calls off the fun stuff and avoids her as much as possible.
The professor ends up knocking up the doctor, and nothing much else happens. The rest of the movie is about how even smart people have it hard, and it shows just how stupid these assholes are even though they have all that intellegence. They don't know how to have fun, they can't take a joke, and they have no capacity to understand love. They are rude, stuck up, and extremely annoying after the first 10 minutes.
The doctor was obviously the most balanced. The girl was funny and you feel bad for her, and the uncle was the one you liked the most because he wasn't stuck up and was the most fun. However he was job-less irresponsible guy so you can't really have a favorite in this movie.
If you don't know by now, I disliked it. There are some funny parts for me, but it doesn't take much to make me LOL. I usually like the smart people that decimate the idiots in a film, and in this movie there are plenty of them. This movie however clearly bit the hard one, and sucked the long one.
I have excellent crappy movie senses. I can look at a cast and be like, "Sarah Horseface Jessica Parker? No thanks!" Or even be like, "That hip edgy bitch from Juno who thinks she's all that for being in a lame movie about a teen preggo and a shiftless idiotic male teen? I'll pass."

you couldnt possibly of gone to the movies thinking smart people would be a good movie
To be completely honest, I knew nothing about the movie and neither did my girlfriend. We're both witty though, and we enjoy comedies, so we thought it would be interesting at least. I had no clue as to what the movie was about, or the cast lol. That's the last time I watch a movie I know nothing about.
