Not necessarily, but usually these movies fit a criteria. I can't call Forest Gump a bad movie, for instance, but it meets all that dramatic moral teaching criteria an Oscar movie is supposed to have. Most of the time, tho, I don't even keep track.

Did the fly series (or whatever it is called) win any oscars?
In best makeup, yea. Not the old version, tho.

I was actually more curious as to whether I'd made the judgment on his naivety from the content of his posts, or whether it was the appearance of his "happy skull" avatar that made his posts seem naive.
Since skulls seem on the whole to not invoke a sense of blissful naivety in the general populous, I'm either crazy or I'll have to assume that it was the content of his posts that made his avatar appear so gleeful in my eyes.
I think it's both. For me, fbim4 generated this air of annoyance ever since I banned him... he's not acting like a 23-year old at all... and I know a few of those.
That scene is indeed chilling. The moment he breaks free of his bounds and Tyrael's sword flies across the screen, the music just swells and it's very emotional. Simply why I think Blizzard could pull a good movie off if they used such directing.
Yeah exactly. I always thought they could make a good movie over the 'game's* storyline.
I still remember that Legendary studios thing.

As a drama, the movie sucked. Waaaaaaaaaay too long.
As a comedy, except for the beginning, hilarious! Especially the end. You have the people falling off the boat, hitting things on the way down, spinning wildly. Leanardo DeCrapio chattering sweet nothings through his teeth, and then the chick just peels him off after he dies.
Edit: What was truly annoying and why absolutely hate that movie is the stupid song Celine Dion sang: 'My Heart Will Go On'. That song got on my last frickin' nerve.
Edit 2: It just occurred to me that all the tension in this thread might be because of age gaps... I'm not going to look through everyone's profile but in 1997 when the movie came out I was 10/11 and that kind of movie is going to be pretty boring for a boy who was busy trying to get his parents to let him spend more time on the computer so he could play more Diablo. Get too much younger than that and most kids probably wouldn't understand any of the themes of the movie at all. Even if they went back and watched it now, it's an old movie and would probably seem cheesy.

I did laugh rather loudly as Leo sank down into the sea. It just wasn't enough enjoyment to justify the rest of the movie. But that scene was particularly hilarious.
Well, if you guys are laughing at a dramatic movie, you certainly are not watching it correctly, and your votes in this poll deserve to be nullified, since you never actually tried to understand what the movie was about.
It's not that I didn't try per se, it's that I didn't really care. And isn't it the movie's job to make me care in the first place? Yes, and so in my eyes, it failed.

What a silly thing to say. I cannot help my reaction to a thing. If I find something funny, I'm not gonna hold back just because something is telling me that it's not supposed to be funny. Why would you think that just because I laughed at a part in the movie that I didn't even try to understand what the movie was about? You come to strange conclusions sometimes.
I saw many movies with the worst special effects ever (The Fly, for instance), and didn't laugh, because maybe there was some lousy animations, the movie was not funny at all. The fact that you are able to laugh at people dying in a dramatic movie means you originally disrespect it before you finished watching it. You wouldn't laugh if you went with the flow, which is generally sad. You cannot judge a movie if you are prejudiced toward it.
I'm very careful about movie opinions, and when people watch a movie and then come to me "those special effects over there were hilarious" about a very serious movie (that is just OLD), what am I to say about those people? Idiots.

That's not what it means at all. Not everyone reacts the same to all situations. I simply happen to easily find many things funny. So when I see a CGI person flailing around in the air, I'm sorry but yeah, it's kind of funny to me.

when I hear a movie has an Oscar it immediately loses respect for me.
So no matter the movie, no matter how good it may or may not be, you immediately lose respect for it just because it won an Oscar. Yes, your opinions about movies are careful. Carefully closed-minded that is.

What's more offensive? Laughing at some silly looking CGI effects? Or laboring on some CGI effects just to show tons of people dying? I think the latter is more presumptuous and very offensive.
Eh there were bits and pieces of the movie that where "ok" i guess but overall pretty boring.. Siaynoq man you shouldn't really go on a rant and crack down on those people that did like this movie.. there are people out there that don't think exactly like you man >.>.. there for i think its great Fbim "loved" this movie.. Great for you man on being able to stand out and say you loved a movie that so many people say they hated..
Thats all folks
EDIT: Wow you people laugh at people falling to their deaths? thats creepy and pathetic all at the same time for real.. i mean how would you like it if you were falling to your death and people just stood there, pointed at you and laughed at you while you fell to your death?

Obviously I'd love it....to death!
Anyway, I hope you were being entirely sarcastic. Cause laughing at some non-real people falling to their death is no more creepy and pathetic than laughing at a Ben Stiller movie.
This movie would have been better if it wasn't so long and boring.
It always gets me, how people can watch a movie about the titanic and then say "its too soon for a 911 movie", What the fuck does time have to do with anything? People still died (not that I care) and people will always die until there are none left to kill. People like that are just being hippopotamuses, they need to pull out ice picks and jam them up their noses until they seize up and die with boogery brains.
Eh. It wasn't the greatest movie ever.. but I loved that they were hoping to find this necklace the entire time and at the end the old bat through it in the ocean.. like.. "You'll never find it now fuckers!!" Then laughed.
I don't know about you guys.. but that's what I heard her say. The laugh was more like the Joker tho. Very maniacal!
*Now they're going to have to hire Detective Monk to figure out whether the lead guy of the expedition strangled her in her sleep or not.

No actually i wasn't being sarcastic.. do you laugh at all movies where people are dieing? Hell in that case watch a movie on the holocaust if you like to watch people die for your amusement you'd defiantly get one hell of a good laugh out of that.. >.>
But i noticed you stayed away from the part of where you shouldn't bash on people just because they like a movie that so many others hate/dislike.. but hey thats your choice to answer that not mine >.> ..
