This thread isn't about dreaming or Lucid dreams (unless they're exceptionally whacked, most people get lucid dreams on a reasonably regular basis)
This thread isn't about religious beliefs
This thread isn't about flaming people because of religious beliefs OR if they may of taken drugs to cause the OBE or Hallucination
And it would be nice is people could refrain from lying or exaggerating the truth
This thread is about (OBE) Out of Body Experiences, (NDE) Near-Death experiences (Although I hope no one here has come that close to death) and Hallucinations that may or may not of occurred because of drugs, medication, dehydration, poisoning, illness or a traumatic experience that may of left you in hospital (car accident for example). Or theres the chance that it was a self induced OBE (but hopefully not a self induced NDE)
Its supposed to be around 1\3 of adults have at least 1 OBE or something similar in their lifetime so I hope there are some people here who have experienced it at Diablo3.com
And I know that some people may find their experiences very personal or hard to share but errr... please do otherwise this thread will die
ya i don't think i have ever had an out of body experience. but i am trying to make myself have an obe. i have been trying to record my dreams when i wake up. and been trying to meditate. once i dream't that i was boxing but horribly lost. i woke up. and i felt like i just got beat up by a biker gang. but thats all i got
I can't say that I have a direct OBE, but sometimes I have the sensation of being out of body. It's an odd feeling...almost like the sensation I get in the back of my mind and tingle in my spine from dejavu. I wonder what it's like to have an official OBE. I think it would be interesting.
I have personally never had an OBE, nor has any of my relatives. I have read books about people who've had them, and it's really quite interesting hearing about their experiences.
I do recall one person, though, who claimed to have an OBE. I was probably eight or so, and this woman was a member of the church I used to attend. She had apparently needed surgery for something or another, and claimed she had had an OBE during the procedure. I remember her saying that she had a bird's-eye view of the operating room and that she was watching the staff operate on her.
I was too young to remember any other details about it, but I know it scared me a little about having surgeries if I ever needed them. Of course, I'm not a fan of hospitals or blood (though I'm fine with realistic video game blood and gore - go figure).
I kinda have OBE's rather commonly. It's wierd because I will kinda not be in my body for a few seconds and then boom, its like what the hell happened?
I didn't know it was that uncommon, kinda figured it was natural to have them so frequently... *Coughs.*
I have relatives who say they they've had OBE's and they've allways fascinated me, even more interesting was self induced OBEs. I've heard people say that once youve had an OBE its 1000 times easier to self induce another one
I promised not to discuss the reasons but Ive always wandered about the validity of what was seen during an OBE, so far I haven't seen the argument of astral projection stand up against the Scientific Method although they are making big steps when it comes to re-creating OBE's in neuroscience using magnets and such
To be honest, Ive always wanted to be able to self induce an OBE so I can test the validity of what is seen by myself. And test it without drugs, as drugs tend to mess up your sense of logic and reasoning so anything you observe would be more questionable
@ LinkX - If you tend to have spontaneous (thank god for spell check) OBE's then you should try self inducing. Arnt you interesting in the validity yourself?
Do you have any specific example of what happened before and during the OBE?

I would if the opinion of others mattered. *Coughs.* Validating myself in someone else's eyes isn't all that important to me.
Usually I am doing...anything... I could be going to the kitchen to get a bite to eat, sitting in my room, walking down a random road, anything really. They just kinda happen randomly.
I had an obe/nde, when I was little my family had a boat, we took it out on this lake that had dead trees sticking out of it. I was sitting at the bow when we hit one of these trees, knocking a main limb off that came crashing down on my head. After that I remember soaring over the clouds above the lake, but it seemed as though everything had a red tinge to it. When I came to it was 2 days later and I had stitches in my head.
I once hallucinated when I had a nervous breakdown. That was years ago though. The closest I've ever come to maybe an out of body experience was when I was sleepwalking one night.
I've had a few out of body experiences but they weren't from drugs. Sometimes when i'm asleep i can kinda astral project. It's wierd because i can't control it and whenever i re-enter my body, i get thrown and it feels like i've just been hit by a train.

Do you want to hear how it felt to have an OBE? It starts off feeling like you're just about to drift off to sleep (my OBE happened at night). Then it's not that you feel like you are floating but its almost like you're merging reality with a dream, you catch little tidbits of images such as seeing you're self in bed, places where you have been and spend time at, stuff like that. Then just as quickly as you get into this 'state' you go back into you're body and you're almost thrown, like when you enter your body again, there's a lot of force behind it. Like i said its almost like being hit by a train or a bus. My arm even got thrown back and i rolled over.

Usually for me I'm just doing whatever and then without realizing it I kinda see myself from 3rd person type of view. Kinda like WoW or The Legend of Zelda. (And I've been having them sense before WoW came out or I ever knew of Zelda.) It lasts a few seconds then I am like wow...and go onto whatever I am doing. Lol.
the first dream i ever had was an oldish guy with a book. and he said this is a story about (my name). then i woke up. that was the first thing i remembered and i was 3.
then 2 times. when i sleapt in a bunkbed i had a dream aobut riding a bike on a rainbow. (very f**ked up dream) then my bike would go off the rainbow. i would wake up half way to the floor and my bed. oh and that was on the top bunk. i think i was about 4.

I was asking "Arnt you interesting in the validity yourself?" meaning, validating if for yourself.... not validating yourself for someone else
