I meditate. It helps me think, clear my head and even relax the senses. I don't even have to close my eyes anymore when I do it. I practice martial arts and it really helps me keep focus and forget about needless distractions.
Everyone meditates one time or another, it's either when you're taking a few seconds to plan out your day or just listening to music. When one is in a state of meditation, one is relaxed and calm and forgets about the worries of the world. hehehe
Well, there are other times to be relaxed, at peace, and forget the worries of the world. Happens to me all the time when I take the lady out for whatever. Dinner, movies, park, it doesn't matter. When I'm with her, there isn't a thing on the world I can't do, and any problems I had seem to disappear into thin air. But that's getting off topic lol.
Yea, meditation comes in many ways and forms to different people. I used to walk around an orchard near my house before we moved here to AZ, and it was awesome just walking around and breathing deeply listening to music. It was awesome back in those days.
Seriously, though, I do meditate. Both for martial arts and to induce lucid dreams. The meditation to induce lucid dreams is about the most awesome experience you'll ever have by yourself. You pretty much shut your body down, putting it to sleep, while keeping your mind awake. The goal is to be completely aware while you are dreaming, which can go in so many ways... you can take control of your dreams, or simply let them play out or whatever. It's totally amazing, though, because it's so real.
There's nothing quite like shutting your body down on a quite afternoon, slipping into a dream and spending a good half hour just casually flying around wherever you fee like, hehe.
I am a Christian, and sometimes I just lay down and pray to God, maybe have a Bible verse in mind and really dwell on its words and meaning, or I listen to worship music while I am laying there. I don't know if that counts as meditation, but I enjoy it very much. I think we need some quiet and peace sometimes.

I've read what he's talking about somewhere on the net. I don't think that's how it works. You need to sleep in order to experience lucid dreams. It takes a lot of practice. A LOT. Wiki it, I'm 99% sure that's where I read about it. He makes it sound like it's a walk in the park. It's not. I can safely say that I don't believe him at all, honestly.
I remember in high school I got to the point where I looked forward to dreaming every night because they were all very lucid. I could wake myself up whenever I wanted, go back to dreams after I woke up, control things in the dream, etc. It was interesting though because if I thought about it too much or tried to do too much, I ended up waking up! Does that happen to any of you?
Actually, I do, but it is more of a side effect of my vocal training. I lay down flat on my back with my knees bent 90*, with my hands on my lowest abdominal muscles to measure my breathing. I inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth making a "zzzz" sound till I run out of breath. I repeate this for 5 minutes, then I do the same with the "mmm" sound, and then with the "ma" sound (or any other vowel). I blast the "ma" sound as powerfully as I can without using the throat muscles.
It is a great vocal strengthener for anyone who uses their voice on a daily basis, such as acting, singing, radio, etc.
I have tried real, yoga-type meditation with tibetian bells and sound bowls a few times. Very relaxing and refreshing stuff, although not something I'm interested in doing on a regular basis.

Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions
I totally have to try this! I usually sit in quiet and think of nothing or everything.
Instructions? Tips? Advice? Weblink?
