Being an Aussie a lot of things are different here then they are over in America or England or where ever most of you guys are from. So I have a few things that I have been wanting to know.
The first and most important is this.
What do you guys call LPG?
In Australia we have Fuel (Leaded/Unleaded Petrol), Diesel and Gas (LPG). Now from what I have heard and seen on movies (despite the fact that they are regularly inaccurate) you guys call petrol gas. So I was just curious to wtf you call LPG. I have asked this question before to Darkjay and I think even Thasador but we never resolved the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Secondly,
I know that you guys get called Yanks or Pomes as a slang/derogatory name, but I was curious to what you refer to yourselves as other than Americans or Brits? Because Australians call themselves Aussies. Oh and feel free to let me know any derogatory names for us, I'm hangin to know.
Thirdly,
Do you guys really have that long canteen line thing in school? Where you all walk up with your trays and stuff?
Because over here you just take your lunch in a pissy little box and go and sit in a corner somewhere. We do have canteens but they mainly consist of a bearded woman in her mid 60's who sells microwaved sausage rolls and meat pies.
And thats another thing. NO MEAT PIES!!! Are you bastards crazy? Meat pies are the best! Along with Vegemite, Tim Tams and hmm.......what was the other thing? Oh yeah, Jennifer Hawkins. Another yummy piece of Australian history
Lastly,
You guys don't really have that thing that shoots water up your arse do ya? Because that is just nasty......
Lol, well there are a few things that I want to know, any help is appreciated. And feel free to ask anything or just gloat a little about your country. Because that is what this thread is kinda for. Letting us know about where you live.
We refer to fuel as unleaded gasoline. I believe that what you call LPG is what we call gasoline. I'm pretty sure it's the same substance.
@ #2
We refer to ourselves as Americans basically which Canadians and Mexicans aren't thrilled about. As far as "Yanks" goes, only the people calling us that think it's derogatory and hurts our feelings because it doesn't. It's just short for Yankees, which isn't derogatory at all. I'm not sure what other names we have for ourselves.
I also have no idea what a derogatory term for Australians is simply because I've never had to refer to them in a derogatory matter. In all honesty, people in the US hear and care little for Australia. Not because they don't matter, but they aren't exactly making the news for anything stupid or important.

Cheers for the input Goodguy. But I have to let you know that this is where I got stuck with Darkjay. LPG is short for Liquid Propane Gas. Which is put in your car under a pressurised pump into a gas tank in your boot/on your trailer. Whereas the gasoline you refer to is put in using a bowser into the side of the car, am I right? If not then you are probably right but we will have to try and find some way to confirm it. Because the term gasoline seems to be used fairly often over there whereas in Australian well.....no-one uses it.
I knew yanks was short for yankees, but I didn;t know if it was derogatory or not. I suppose "Red Necks" is the most offensive. Correct?
EDIT: And thankyou Jarhead, I love you too *mwah* *mwah*

Ohhhh, we just call it propane. Very very few vehicles run on propane here. I do know that some people modify their vehicles to run on propane, but it's very abnormal.
"Red necks" only applies to the people from the southern portion of the United States, and to them they probably think it's awesome. As for the people in the north, we use the term to insult them since they are idiots.
Australia and the United States aren't actually that different. Slightly different dialect and thats about it. Also, you have nicer weather and kangaroos.
Hahaha, yeah that's true. It can only be called a truck if it weighs 18 tonnes and has atleast 16 cylinders. That's my opinion.
A holden ute is hardly a truck. It may move people and lots of shit, at a very fast speed. But they generally lack a sweaty fat man wearing a Jim Beam singlet and a Western Warriors cap.

LOL.
I dont know if i laughed harder at the first or second part of that post.
World record for Fastest production 'truck' in the world anyone? Thats right, aussies prevail again.
New Maloo's are out, damn they are fast, and the wait is out to May already.
One of my mates got out a loan to buy one of Last years SS utes. He decided to plow it into the arse end of a hatchback that was reversing out of a driveway at 130kmph! The funny thing was, he was in a backstreet of town and it was a 60 zone. So he lost his licence, didn't get his insurance cos he was speeding, had to replace this birds car, had to repay his loan AND had to ride his pushy to work everyday after that!
Not to mention he couldn't get his job as a train driver cos he lost his drivers licence. Man it was so funny.
Nah mate, i know what im talking about. Our Aussie ute smashed that yank tank's old record.
There is a problem with that though.
That isn't actually a truck. I don't care what you or anyone else says, that's not a truck. Thats the Australian equivalent of an El Camino, not a truck.

LOL. Ok goodguy, whatever you say.
If it isnt a truck why did they give it the record for worlds fastest production pickup truck?
Its exactly the same as the dodge, a 2 door car with a tray on the back. Its just smaller.
Its ok, i guess it must be hard for you to admit defeat. Especially to an aussie.
Point is, as long as Holden is a subsidiary of an American company, regardless of where their production facilities are or where their vehicles are designed, the United States get's the win.
Yes, I know that the G8 was based on the Commodore and not vice versa.
Im sorry but its the other way round. We design and build the cars here, and export them to other countries. It goes like this.
Holden design the Monaro in Australia. It goes to united states rebadged as a pontiac, and sold as a GTO. It goes to europe rebadged as a Vauxhall, sold as a Monaro. Holden design the VE commodore, and the SS and Clubsport models go to united states and are rebadged as Pontiacs. Please do not try and argue this with me, i know my stuff and my father has been a Holden employee for 33 years.
So you see its the Aussies that do all the work, all the americans do is own the company, and pump in the cash. So i guess i gotta say thanks, if it wasnt for you guys Holden wouldnt exist.

Its the same with Ford Australia, they are owned by Ford but have a very different range of cars, some of which are designed and built here.
