Maybe heaven is waiting till all the great warriors of the mortal plane are dead so that they can comission them as angels of war, then they could really kick some ass BOOYA!
It was assumed that Baal's soulstone was destroyed in the big explosion of the worldstone. Now the world stone being destroyed in a corupted state, I don't know.

It is assumed Baal's stone is destroyed at Hellforge like his brothers stones were. Tyrael did what he thought he had to a destroyed the worldstone, as it was corrupt, thus allows demons to pour through to the mortal realm, the exact ramifications of his actions are unknown at this point, did it close the rift? did it open it further?
I do not believe Tyrael has become corrupted, even if a piece of the worldstone entered his body, a stone entering the body and corrupting the being, it is very over used. Angels are forbidden for interferring in the lives of man directly ,tyrael has done this on many occasions, Tyarel being basnished from heaven for disobeying this rule seems more plasuable than him being corrupted. so and so becoming corrupted is a very over used concept in diablo. surely Blizzard is capable of coming up with a better storyline than that.

no. angels only become mortal if their wings are removed. Lucifer was Banished from Heaven, as were several other who joined his revolt. they later became Hell's Angels

Soulstones were a prison. the prime evils once existed in the mortal realm, and casued so much destruction, Tyarel gave man the soulstones to conatin their essences. Baal, because of his destructive nature broke his soulstone, hence Tal Rasha overed himself to replace the broken section of Baals soulstone. Meshistos stone was buried in a temple in the jungels of Kurast, and diablos was buried underneath a cathedral in tristram.
years later Mephisto would corrupt the order ofthe zakarum, and return, while diablo with the help of the archbishop Lazarus would attempt and fail to posses the body of King Leoric, then Diablo would later posess the body of Prince Albrecht, and Return.
once defeated, the soulstones, now once again containing the essence of the prime evil, this is why when diablo dies in the first game after the warrior removed the stone diablo revert back to Albrecht, must be taken to Hellforge where they will be destroyed.
they prime evils are not gone, destroying their soulstone traps their essence in the abyss withing the burning Hells (one of the nine Hells), pretty sure this has been said countless times on this site. they are trapped there, but not perminently. no one ever stays in the abyss for long, they either find a way out themselvs or are released through any number of spells.

they are dead physical, but not in spirit or essence.

there was a revolt, led by Belial Lord of Lies and Azmodan Lord of Sin, along with Andariel Maiden of Anguish and Duriel Prince of Pain, they over threw the Prime Evils, and Banished them to the Mortal Realm.
but both Andariel and Duriel rejoined the Prime Evils, and were later killed, Belial and Azmodan, are assumed still at large, possibly in the Burning Hells, as they are the Current Rulers.

About the nine hells, that is from christianity, and while Diablo gets a lot of inspiration from there (read: Rip off), there is always only mentioned one Hell, as in
Mephisto:...before the burning standards of Hell
Mephisto: Diablo, sent forth your terror, into Hell
Nowhere is it mentioed as nine planes, just one plane.

nothing dies in essense, everything always keeps going. or else there would be no hell. think of souls getting wear and tear and end up getting destroyed instead of eternal damnation. that would make bad decisions a lot more apetizing right?? thankfully im not scared of hell, and thankfully no one here is either. i mean, we have all even slaughtered the prime evils.

no one said they were, they still have there wings, we are talking about angels in christianity.
Angels appear to be immortal in diablo, but fallen or corrupt angels are mortal. you did kill Izual.

If the angels were immortal it wouldn't have been much of a war up until now would it? I hardly doubt that Izual led the ill-fated assault upon the Hellforge alone, he must have had more angels with him. And all of them were most likely not corrupted, if any of them was. That would indicate that angels can die.
