Anybody watch it? Has anybody watched enough of the episodes that they can survive out in the wilderness by themselves? I watch it and I can survive as I have done some of what Bear Grylls has done.

Watched the whole series up until I realized it was fake and Bear Grylls was nothing but a TV Host hack that eats gross stuff to look cool for the camera and kills wild animals needlessly.
If you want real wilderness survival, watch Survivorman. The guy films it himself, produces it, composes and records the music, and stars in it. He's a true badass.
Yeah I like the show it's neat and all the things he does. I mean he really goes to the extreme. (If you watch the show you know what I mean). I can say I've learned a lot between him and Surviverman. I could survive in the wilderness like the woods or something, but no way in the arctic -20 degrees or the Austrailian Outback or anything like that.

So your saying he broke his back during a show ON PURPOSE? Also, don't tell me you wouldn't kill an animal if it meant your life, that's bullsh*t.
He is for real as he uses his training from being a British Green Beret to survive.

I prefer Survivor Man as well, Bear Grills always has a camera man following him around which is kinda BS IMO but his show is more about educating people on what to do incase "Insert random scenario here" happens then him actually surviving himself. Survivor man actualy had a really good behind the scenes show of himself a while ago. he explains how he has to do a lot of his dangerous stunts between 2-4 times in order to get the correct shots etc.
EDIT.
I would like the dude on Survivor Man to try and survive Antarctica for a week. That will teach him.
He has done something like that actually it was the Canadian Rockies in the middle of winter.
Sorry Edit again. did a quick Wikipedia search on his different episodes from the 3 seasons he has filmed so far and he has done the following things related to Arctic weather.
I agree with Zoltrix and Jetrall... Bear Grills is a total scam! Remember the episode where stumbled upon a group of "wild" horses? Totally fake, they filmed this thing behind a farm and the horses were tamed animals. Most of his stunts are not as dangerous as they seem, but still, as much shit as I can dig up on him, I can say that the guy has some balls. I mean going into freezing water to show off the effects of thermal shock and hypothermia, koodos Bear koodos
Bear Gylls is a moron. All he does is pretend hes in some exotic, unexplored area, but really he's in someone's backyard drinking his own piss.
Now survivorman is the complete opposite. Ive seen every episode, the man is incredible. Id like to see Bear Gylls spend a week on the edge of the Amazon River. Ha!
I've been saying that Bear is a fake as soon as I watched in one episode where he went running down some mountain side to "save time" or something. The last thing you ever want to do in the wilderness on your own is to purposefully put yourself in a dangerous situation. Also, running to "save time" is not smart either because you burn off so much energy that should be saved because you have no clue when you will be picked up.
Survivorman is the real deal. He does exactly how I was taught in the military, escape and evasion.

Personally i think that show is quite entertaining, especially where he catches wildlife (such as catfish with his own arm).
Absolutely it's entertaining. Hell, I could watch it for the sheer joy of hearing him pronounce things with that English accent! As it is, I did watch the whole series. It's not a bad show, you just shouldn't listen to any of the advice he gives on it lol.

Why is everybody talking about Survivorman when I made it to talk about Man Vs. Wild?
Like everyone turns a Diablo3 infos thread into a "Looks too much like WoW and I don't like WoW" thread! Yay!
But seriously, I liked Man VS Wild since I watched the whole series before to know it was 'fake', but then each time I started speaking about it to my friends, it was always turning into: "You shouldn't watch that fake shit, it's totally bullshitting their fans".
But hey, I wasn't watching it to see if someone's able to survive days in the Jungle, or in the artic, but mostly to learn some survival tricks, and I can tell you that I learned a lot of them.
Also, who cares if his cameraman gives the guy some water when he's about to die? The dude just got bitten by some bees and has the face so swollen he's almost unable to see, and he's still walking miles and miles to 'reach any civilization'?(Dont tell me the sahara episode was filmed behind the house of some random man that looked like a desert, please... He had to walk for so f.ing long...)
I mean, fake or not, Bear Grylls has my respect.

If you can't amaze people with your intelligence, confuse them with your bullshit.
I don't like shows of this sort. "Show offs" is what I call them. If you have something to prove, you prove it to yourself, without cameras. I don't get what's the fuss is about Bear Grylls. He's just another "look what I can do guy" who earns money by filming some random stuff.
Guys, this is TV we're talking about. Survivor Man is one boring show. I don't care that Bear Grylls has high quality cameras and camera men following him to capture his choreographed stunts. It's entertaining!
Besides the point I doubt that Bear Grylls has it as easy as some of you would like to make it seem. He is a tough bastard and by doing so called "stunts" I am more likely to remember Bears advice opposed to Survivor man's documentaries based just on shock value alone.
Also, I recall Survivor Man using one of his (four, five, six?) cameras to start a fire. Yeah, that's smart and creative but what if I don't have my camera? what do I do the next time I need a fire? Bear has a knife and a water bottle and backpack; if you don't have that, you shouldn't be in the wilderness. Sometimes the Man Vs. Wild crew will aid Bear in creating something like a raft.
It all comes down to personal preference and if you like Survivor Man more then good for you. I just don't get it when people hate on Bear; it seems like they want him to suffer more, "break your legs and then start a fire... see how easy it is then". I don't want Bear to get hurt and thankfully his crew is there with him should he get hurt!

It isn't really the "look what I can do", but more about the "look what YOU can do in that situation, to try to survive".
Maybe the "look what I can do" is true in some points, but I don't think that kind of guys are doing it only to show off how cool and knowledgeable they are, but more to(first, make money out of something not a lot of people can do but also) show people that when they think they have nothing with them to survive, the nature is providing every tools needed for most situations.

I mentioned Survivor Man in there and he is the real deal. I know Bear has it easy. This thread should be named Man Vs. Wild Vs. Survivor Man.
