Jay was not happy how CC's were feeling at the later difficulties due to the reduced effect.
They had a few ideas of how to change this, but after talking to a few teams came up with a new way to handle them.
"After tossing out ideas for a while, we had a small epiphany:What if we used diminishing returns, but developed a different set of rules for Diablo III?"
"What if monsters just never went immune? And what if, instead of reduced % durations, the durations were reduced based on the length of the CC, so that it didn’t matter which order the CC effects were applied when playing co-op?"

Hydra last hits ignoring MF!

What Happened to Bashiok
Our internal structure is a bit opaque. You all probably think of me as a Community Manager, but my title is actually Editor. The past few years I've helped manage a small team of writers (with Nethaera, Lylirra, Kaivax and Daxxarri) which write, edit and publish the majority of articles that are posted on WorldofWarcraft.com, StarCraft2.com and Diablo3.com - among other writing duties. Obviously from my beginnings as a Community Manager (back before our team managed the website content I was Drysc, and now Bashiok) I still like to jump in and talk about the games when I have time. I was the dedicated "Diablo III guy" since we announced the game, so it was natural I kind of maintained that through the launch. There is a separate team (made up of Zarhym, Vaeflare, Crithto, Rygarius, Grimiku, Aldrexus, Traysent, and Brennvin) that’s dedicated to engagement on the North America forums for each of the games, various social media outlets, and other platforms, and they each have differing tasks and jobs on top of that.
With Mists of Pandaria and Heart of the Swarm ramping up, and the Battle.net World Championship nearing, there's just a lot of writing for me and my team to do, and a lot to get ready for. We are though looking for a senior manager role for Diablo III, (which is probably misleadingly titled) "Community Manager", that we're still hiring for. Tell your friends! (… Who have 5+ years of experience managing a community team. I know you all have one.)
In any case, I'll still jump in when I can.
Can i be hired for something also :)? maybe not community manager but I could help big time with lots of things. I play the game so much an played entire franchise so much :D. IM IN LOS ANGELES! I CAN COMMUTE! I usually work as a QA tester an brought some mechanics to games as well in my past which help.
We have a number of QA positions we're currently hiring for. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
name a hated foe...
There are many hellish foes which give me pause, but one of my most hated enemies would have to be Elite Soul Rippers. Any creatures that have evolved to use their tongues as a grappling-hooks are creatures that I would prefer to steer clear of.
Alkaizer - Paragon Level 98
As we posted yesterday, Alkaizer, the leading player in Paragon levels is still streaming and is very close to level 99. At the current rate we should be seeing the world first level 100 tomorrow sometime.
At the time of this post he is one and a half bars from 99. This means he has 369,648,000 Exp to go.
Is it just me or is there virtually no point in Paragon Leveling past the early 90's? Instead of a ruby in that helmet, he could instead put a topaz in there for Magic Find, and reach the 300 cap (or have MF on a single piece of gear).
It seems pointless when you are going to be grinding anyway for gear and not gold, and if you were grinding for gold, would the extra 30% from 90 to 100 really make a difference?
While true that if you just want to cap out MF, you could toss a topaz in the helm and call it good once you reach early 90s, but Paragon still provides the other bonuses. The 10 levels gained going from 90-100 as a barb will provide 30 more STR, 20 more VIT and 10 more Dex/INT. You could also free up the helm slot for an Amethyst for bonus %life at that point, since bonus XP/Gold/MF would be rendered moot. At that point, would it be necesssary? Not really, but it would technically make you more powerful and more durable. In other words, mathematically speaking, you would clear faster and die less often. So, there is a point to it, but the benefit is minimal.
Alk at this point however is simply racing to 100 to be world first. I highly doubt he's putting in all this effort just so he can squeeze that last 3 STR out. So aside from the internet prestige that he'll obtain by earning world first 100, there really isn't much point to it.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Oh pitiful shadow lost in the darkness,
Bringing torment and pain to others.
Your damned soul wallowing in your sin.
Perhaps... it is time to die.
In case you are just checking in today, we had a developer journal for patch 1.0.5 on Crowd Control.

I wonder if they’re still as apt to fight after burning their tongues? (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
